Dive bar with a friendly atmosphere and an amazing selection of craft beers. Their on line menu will help in making beverage choices. Our first time there and people were easy to talk to and the bar tender was friendly. They do offer a seating area to eat if the bar is not your style. You pay for food separate then your beverage, but food is served fast and to order. I enjoyed the roast beef wrap, and I’m not a wing person but many there raved of how good they are. Worth a stop to escape the busy holiday rush and get some simple me time. If you like shooting pool they have a table as well a phone charging station and decent juke box too. If you like sports they have TVs situated all around for your viewing enjoyment.

It’s a local dive bar that the locals don’t hangout in. Don’t let the name fool you on a Friday or Saturday night there isn’t an open seat in the house yet alone Elbow room. Definitely a weird crowd, from the corporate world to the crackheads. If your lucky you’ll be solicited by a prostitute from one of the many near by fleabag motels. Very good place to people watch.

This place has been on my list for a while to check out. Stopped in about 5:30 pm on a Saturday. Found a few seats at the bar which wraps around a center island. A decent size crowd at this time. We got a beer list which is pretty long. Ordered up a couple of the Cape May King Porter Stomps(Nitro) From Cape May NJ, and has a 7.4% ABV and is a Baltic Style Chocolate Porter. Very good with a nice taste to go with our food. We ordered up a Cheesesteak for myself and a Roast Beef wrap for my wife. The food was good and the service was quick. The bartender was friendly along with the obvious regulars. We had no problem feeling welcome here. This bar is small & Divey, but make no mistake the place lives up to its reputation for good food and brews and a nice atmosphere. A Pool table and tv’s are around the walls. Will definitely return.

Jay’s Elbow Room is the definition of a dive bar. Its not the best location — Make sure you put your blinker on before turn onto the lot otherwise you may be rear ended by the person behind you doing 80 mph on rt 73. It is a tiny location with an equally small patio area with cheap well made bar food and a nice selection of craft beer on rotation. Whenever I am in the mood for an in-season craft pint I know I can always find it here. The wings are nicely cooked and satisfy my craving. Did I mention the food here is cheap? The chicken tenders were delicious but I found the fries bland and a little on the soggy side. The burger was nothing special. So moral of the story stick to the fried proteins and you are set. I haven’t found the service to be horrendous or offensive but it does take a few for someone to acknowledge you either at the bar or table. Regulars definitely get preferential treatment around here.

This is a dive bar. 8 piece is just $ 7 and a pizza with meatballs is only $ 7.25. People here are pretty friendly and everyone kind of knows everyone, so they’re pretty chatty and a nice. They’ve got a bunch of TVs around the bar with all manner of sports going. College ball, hockey, baseball, etc. So the meatball pizza is quite flavorful. While it looks like pizza you’d get out a box, it actually tastes really good. Likes of flavor and really fresh. I’m somewhat impressed. My wife orders hot wings with honey and they were good. They were slightly hotter than I like, but unbearable especially since I only had 2. They came with celery and dipping sauce. Great place all in all. I really enjoyed my experience here. I like the environment and I think I’ll come back here, especially for their $ 1 lunch special.

Great dive bar! Good wings, prompt service, lots of choice on tap. Came with some friends who had recommended the place and was not disappointed. Highly recommend the Bay fries.

Dive bar delight. It looks old and dirty but closer inspection reveals its just old. The pay phone near the bathroom was a marvel to see even if there was no dial tone. Being from Rhode Island all the dudes looked like extras from a Kevin Smith movie to me but the girls looked cute enough especially if you still like big hair. Had a great time drinking till almost three am on a Thursday morning. This place was probably dangerous at one point but now I’d venture it’s just an experience. 10⁄10 would bang.

My favorite South Jersey dive bar for over 25 years. Friendly bartenders. Reasonably priced drinks. Classic chicken wings. Tons of TVs showing your favorite sporting events. They even have craft beers now. Say it ain’t so! Despite that, Jay’s is the epitome of a local, enjoyable dive bar.

This is an awesome dive bar in Maple Shade area of New Jersey. Ny girlfriend and I been wanting to try here for lunch, and it did not disappoint. The place definitely had that 1970s basement bar feel to it, so don’t you guys dare update it! You will be shocked to know that they have an amazing beer list. They have a great craft selection in bottles and taps, as well as the usual stuff like Bud. Our waitress was nice and attentive to us. She made sure to check on us regularly, so thanks! I also really enjoyed the food. The wings were nice and crispy with a good buttery hot sauce. My burger was juicy and thick, so I felt satisfied after eating it. I would definitely recommend Jay’s if you like dive bars, good brews, and delicious bar food!

Been going to Jays Elbow Room for about 5 years and it’s always been there as my go-to spot for a quick beer with friends. It’s also been the ideal place to go to get out of the house and avoid«accidents» that happen with prolonged cabin fever. The inside décor has been updated over the years and the tables are the perfect size to squeeze 4 – 5 friends in. If you’re friendly, they’ll even sqeeze two tables together for you. When the weather is good, you can go outside on their recently completed and renovated deck. The drink prices are absolutely unbeatable. If you don’t wear a fedora or act like a beer snob, you can get a bud light draft for $ 1.87! If you’re feeling fancy, there is usually a craft beer on special for about $ 3. On the weekends, I’ve even had rum and cokes for $ 3! They have a decent sized craft beer menu too if you’re into it! The food is the ideal definition of bar food, cheap and greasy. During Phillies(and I think all Philadelphia sports) games, you can get yourself a hot dog for $ 1. The burgers are great as well and once you make that decision, you gotta get a basket of old bay fries too. After a few beers, you might even decide to order some nachos for yourself. Big mistake because the Nacho orders at Jays are MASSIVE, so all your buddies will try to help you finish and love you for your original selfish decision! Jays’ll even let you order an egg sandwich, the least expensive meal on the menu. So if you’re looking for a chill place to go drink with a group — it’s always a good time at Jays!

It’s a dive bar. Different people from different walks of life. They have a decent craft beer menu(draft and bottled) I think they have daily beer and liquor specials. Come on in, it’s a good place to grab a quick beer and talk some ish. Try it out.

Went here recently and it really is the quintessential dive bar. And when I say dive bar don’t think I mean it in a derogatory sense because I don’t. It’s not dirty or dangerous, it just kind of feels that way. It is the kind of bar that you see in old movies where the characters would go in to drown out their sorrows in alcohol while surrounded by a haze of smoke. The haze of smoke is obviously gone but it still gives off that vibe. It’s small but doesn’t feel too cramped. The clientele is the exact people you want to be in that kind of a bar: regulars sprinkled with an adventurous few. Do they have food? I have absolutely no idea. Maybe they do maybe they don’t but that is not the reason you are at a bar like this. No, you are here to have a drink and have fun.

I have been going to Jay’s since the 80’s, nothing much has changed in this place. Updated some of the TV’s, but the feel is what it has always been. They have nicely priced drinks, and the food, while bar-fare, is moderately priced and good. The clientele has been the same, no changes there. If you are looking for a late night place to go for a drink, and enjoy the divey feel, this is the place to go. Don’t expect 5-star treatment, but, also don’t expect to be disappointed, it is a great place to relax and let loose.

They have $ 1 lunch specials here! I’m not nearby for lunch but would definitely give it a go if I was around the area during that time because the food here isn’t bad. I’m giving this place 4 stars because it is the best place to go for wings in the area. Must eat them on spot because they do not travel well. It really is a great place to get your typical fried bar foods. I got the chili here one day and did not like it at all, but that’s just my opinion. Definitely a great place to stop for a drink and quick bite.

The place is something of a local legend, everybody I know who grew up around here has a Jay’s story. This is your classic, quinicental dive bar: nothing fancy, well worn with very little changes made, in or out, over the years. The wings are every bit as good as the other reviews you’ve read, deep fried crisp and tossed in hot sauce. The craft beer selection on tap was very impressive, I was pleasantly surprised. If you’re looking for a place to hang for a few hours on a Saturday night, I’d highly recommend Jay’s.

I cannot say how many times I passed Jay’s Elbow Room, all the while wondering about it. So about eight or nine months ago, I ended the suspense and checked it out. Jay’s exterior is not misleading as to what you will find inside. This is a dive bar with a frat house vibe. For example, the walls could probably use a coat of paint, even in the bar’s subdued lighting. But no one comes to Jay’s for that kind of ambience. I’m certain this detail would not phase the two fellows who just shimmied in front of my table, supporting one another in a brotherly drunken embrace to protect one another from stumbling. The music pours out of the jukebox like the drinks from the bar – neither seems to have an end as to variety or supply. Some patrons are raucous, most are spirited, and no one comes to Jay’s expecting a quiet setting to study for exams. Jay’s menu offers a variety of typical dive bar foods: wings, patty melts, burgers, wraps, hoagies, steak sandwiches, pizza, and club sandwiches. A couple of the unique offerings that I have tried are the fried pickles and cheesesteak club sandwich. So stop wondering what you’ll find inside Jay’s! And stop wandering in search of a place to hang out into the early morning hours. Come to Jay’s, be sure to check any pretentiousness at the door, and get to know some of the best bartenders and waitresses in South Jersey.

This is a great dive bar. It doesn’t get better than here for a Jersey dive bar. The atmosphere is great, there is always an interesting crowd and a story to go home with. If Tommy is your bartender you’re set. The food here is great for a dive bar and the kitchen is open pretty late. Drinks are cheap and they have a surprisingly good selection of craft beers if you’re into that. They are always running specials.
