Janet’s Shear Genius

Janet, the owner of Janet’s Shear Genius hair salon ruined my hair! I have to go to a color specialist to have the color Janet put in neutralized! I went to Janet to have my hair foiled blonde to get rid of the grey. I asked for blonde and she colored it brown. I mistakenly asked her to fix it by adding more blonde, as I originally requested, she then bleached my hair which turned it yellow and white. Burned my scalp and fried my hair! WARNING: STAY AWAY FROM THIS SALON, JANETS SHEAR GENIUS, UNLESS YOU WANT HALLOWEEN COSTUME HAIR! I wish I could post a picture of what she did to my hair! Btw, I waited a year and a half to get my hair colored only to have her destroy my hair! I’m heart broken

I originally choose this place because it’s very close to my home and it was convenient. However, Janet does a great job with my hair.
I am fairly pleased with how flexible she is at squeezing me in at last minute’s notice. The value is pretty decent, shampoo and haircut for $ 15 and she does a good job. I like my hair short and without the need for styling products and she gets it right every time.
Given that I’m your stereotypical male, I think this is the first time I’ve written a review for a beauty salon, but credit where credit is due I always say.

I waited several weeks to write this review because I was so upset I didn’t want to write anything out of anger. First and foremost, it cost WAY more than I expected or have paid anywhere else for the same services. Janet did not inform me exactly how much the service would cost ahead of time. I even mentioned the price of over $ 200 for a cut and a foil was a bit shocking and she just shrugged me off. She didn’t seem to really listen when I told her what I wanted or she would have known I was hoping it came out much lighter. I couldnt tell what color it was when I left because she rushed me out of there with wet hair because she was late to her next appointment. So after 2 hours of very rough handling (least gentle stylist I have ever had) and over 200 bucks I got to go home and blow dry and style my own hair for an hour. Nothing like leaving a salon and feeling like crap. Worst experience ever. Too bad for them because I recently moved to the area and was looking for a new stylist, and being from the service industry I am a fantastic tipper!

The shop is clean and very close to my house. I was tired of paying over $ 20 to get my 3 year olds hair cut. They do kids cuts for $ 11 and it turned out really cute.
The shop is very kid friendly. Have a toy corner where kids can play while someone else is getting fixed up that has not only toys but kids books too. My daughter loved getting her hair cut here and the price was right. We will be back!
