I always read the weekly web based magazine to find out about obscure food companies. Since I’m a pickle addict I was intrigued when I read about a company called McSweet out of Washington. The company was created by a bartender who’s mission was to create the perfect cocktail onion. His onion was so popular in Seattle area he started a mail order business. The company is now ran by Jim McCaslin and he has an awesome product line. He runs McSweet’s by himself with no employees and his customer service is outstanding. When you call up his company you’ll deal with him directly and you can tell how much pride he has for his product. I’ve tried every product he’s got which is pickled cocktail onions, asparagus, green beans with dill, spicy garlic, olives, giardiniera(carrots, cucumbers, garlic, green beans, and red peppers), and his flavored vinegar. His vinegar solution has a light sweet flavor but not overkill. The veggies are so fresh it tastes like they were just picked out of the garden and maintain a nice firm texture. My favorite is definitely the asparagus. These are soooo awesome when added to a bloody mary, but every single item is excellent. I really recommend you check out the webpage and give it a try. I’m hooked and you will be too! FYI: Bristol Farms carries the pickled garlic and cocktail onions, at least the Newport Beach location does.
