I am chiming in with the crowd just to say that nothing has changed: Heritage is still the go-to spot for craft beer. Their selection is most excellent and the staff is extremely knowledgeable about what they have. I often ask for and take their recommendations for new and/or seasonal varieties and am seldom disappointed. Their selection of local craft beer is also great. They have one cooler that is always stocked with some of the big local names. I would like to see even more, but that is truly nitpicking. I will go elsewhere to buy other liquor, but this is the only spot for beer.

Thank you, Brian R. Beer geek heaven sums it up Johnny O likey Place is kind of small with a 50’s vibe and a little off the beaten path for me. In my *cough* *cough* years of existence living in the Twin Cities, I don’t think I have ever come across the intersection of English and Frost in Maplewood before. I guess that is what Unilocal is about, right? Finding great businesses you never would have on your own. Awesome beer selection here, including a large make your own six pack selection. Went with the following: Brooklyn Brewery Monster Ale(first time I have seen this anywhere, and it will be my first to sample), Lagunitas Sucks Brown Shugga Substitute Ale(also first time seeing this anywhere), Left Hand Sawtooth Ale, Great Divide Denver Pale Ale, Kona Fire Rock Pale Ale, and Big Sky IPA. Grand total? 12 bucks. Pretty reasonable, if you ask me. Guy at the register was a little slow ringing up the product. Took what felt like five minutes. He said he was filling in. No biggie.

Looking for craft beer? & a whole lot of it? How about hard to find imports? Stop your search! Heritage has it all! The other Unilocalers have it right, this place is crazy awesome. Each time I make a stop @ Heritage, I am impressed & wowed with their amazing selections & superior customer service & knowledge. Beer tastings are held twice a month or so… a great way to showcase their business as they have SO many beers that other stores just don’t carry. I don’t think I will ever buy beer anywhere else. A hidden gem.

They have a pretty good selection, but need to work on their customer service. I realized I needed another bag of ice(in addition to the one I had just bought) and they wouldn’t let me pay credit for a single bag, even though I just bought $ 50 worth of beer 30 seconds ago.

The. other Unilocalers have got it right: this is a gem for beer lovers. Big Ed is knowledgeable and passionate about the stock. You will find it at Heritage. That should be their motto. Not for wines. Not for single malts. But for beer. Yes, they have other booze there too, but who cares? And who’s gonna argue with Big Ed when he recommends a particular coffee stout? CHECKITOUT!!!

This has become one of the best«destination» beer stores in the metro. From humble beginnings a few years ago, Ed has employed the best beer minds and enthusiasts available. They can tell you about great beer without going overboard or making you feel unworthy. They have a fantastic Pick 6 wall, which includes every bomber in the store. Ed has become a monster. In a good way.

I wish this store was closer to me, luckily I make a stop whenever I visit my sister’s place though. This is by far the best all around beer stop I’ve found. They have a great selection of crafts and imports, by great I mean really really impressive, awesome, mind boggling, you get where I’m going. The guys working here are what really sets this place apart though. Big thanks to Tim and Ed who always have a smile on their face and who really know their beer. I really love that Heritage is now on facebook. Really great to see small places using facebook to their advantage. They posted as soon as they had Surly Smoke in stock and really make life easier for a beer fanatic like me. If you live in or near Maplewood you are one lucky Son of a B.

This is the place for craft beers and ales. From the outside this store does not look like much, but it is my favorite craft beer store in the Cities. There is a selection of wines and liquors, but the focus is definitely on the beers. The standard crafts are here as well as various local and international brews. The owner is the surprise here. He knows his stock and it great at recommendations tailored to the customers taste rather than the all too common spouting of whatever has recently become popular. He is also a very good salesman and once he recognizes you expect to have a list of new brews in stock. Walking out under budget can become a difficult task, but it is nice to always have something new to try. Pick one or two of his suggestions and just politely turn down the rest as he gets very excited discussing beer with his customers. The store is about a half hour drive from me and there are other craft beer shops which are closer, but Heritage is the only one I shop at regularly.
