This is a great family spot, the daily specials are good portions too. It’s usually very crowded so expect to wait at least 30 minutes usually Thursday & Friday evenings.

So so tasty! After a long day of family stuff, I along with 9 other family members made our way here with only an hour to spare before closing time. I really gotta give their staff credit for being so cool with a large group, in the middle of the week, at the end of the day being loud and having no idea what food we wanted. The pizza was great, you can order by the slice or entire pies, wings were great(supposedly so cause I don’t eat meat but others really enjoyed them) the pasta and eggplant were good(not the best I’ve ever had but pretty darn tasty n I’m an eggplant snob!), and the service was great. The side salads were not exciting but really who comes here primarily for salad anyways? Additionally, the bill was really reasonable for such a large group! If I lived closer I’d definitely come back n recommend it to others!

The best of the best. The crème de la crème. Listen to me. Listen to me right now. GOHERE. Seriously, if you’re in Maplewood and don’t get their pizza, you’re insane. It’s a staple and for good reason. They have a ton of unique slices that they execute amazingly. Their famous ziti slice is absolutely to die for and I always get the bbq chicken slice as well. Fan favorites also include the french fry pizza and seafood pizza. SOGOOD.

As soon as you walk in it smells very strong of garlic. When people ordered a pasta dish, which seemed very popular, we noticed the cooks fried lots of garlic. We thought this is obviously a key ingredient to a pasta dish they make here and they wouldn’t possibly put that much garlic in pizza. I ignored my instincts which told me if they don’t know how to make a basic simple good pasta sauce they probably have no clue how to make a good pizza sauce. We ordered the«Godfather Pizza» with bacon, pepperoni and sausage. The description sounds good. The best smell on earth, especially when you are hungry, is of fresh hot pizza, but the first thought I had when we got our pizza was not«this smells so yummy» it was«what is that strange smell?» It smelled like burned bacon ranch garlic dressing. I love pizza and I have no idea how they managed to f$%^ up the greatest food on the planet. The foundation of a pizza is essentially hot bread and cheese, so like how on earth can you make that taste bad?! They didn’t just make it taste bad. It tasted disgusting! The sauce tasted like ketchup with a tube of burnt garlic paste. Oh my God do they love garlic at this place. The garlic was so dominant it may as well have been an order for garlic bread. I don’t want to seem anti-garlic, so let me make it clear that I think garlic can add lots of flavor to food, but too much and it leaves food inedible. A good pizza sauce should have lots of tomatoes, some onions, salt, pepper, a dash of fresh garlic, oregano and basil. The crust was another problem. It was supposed to be a pan crust but maybe they don’t know what a pan crust is. The crust was so so so thin, greasy, soggy and sloppy. You can’t hold a slice up. Everything will flop and slide right off that soggy sorry excuse for a pizza crust. They need to hire or train people to make a good sauce and crust. Basically learn to make a pizza! The sauce and crust are the two most important components to a good pizza and those are two main problems with this pizza place. The sauce is not really a tomato sauce with Italian herbs, but more of a garlic sauce. The crust is a soggy, sloppy greasy disgusting mess. I had a way better pizza at Costco.

I enjoyed the food a lot and the only reason I gave it 3 stars is due to the chaos that occurs once you order your food. Our server did the best he could but I felt really sorry for him. He was kind of guessing and yelling out who ordered what. Our food came out at different times so I was waiting to eat and looking over my shoulder to see when the rest of our order would come out. The restaurant was cramped but I’ve seen worse. I think they are probably great for take out and should probably find a better system for tracking orders and ensuring that table orders come out around the same time. It’s confusing for the service staff and frustrating for the customer but the food was wonderful. I just wouldn’t eat there. I’m going to stick with take out

The food was really good but it’s the system that killed it. The service was really nice but the system they had is terrible because they literally have to call out the order and you tell them if you ordered it. Our waiter is the reason why I’m giving this 3 stars. He was really nice and my mom forgot her debit card so he kept it safe until I went to go get it. Overall I wouldn’t really recommend it unless you like watching as other people’s food are being called out as you sit there and wait for your food.

I have eaten from here 4 times now I’m ready to give a review. On the menu Grandma’s Pizza clearly says«pan pizza» well I got regular crust. I asked for calamari well done… I got a container of greasy calamari. They need improvement in some areas, the have potential to be really good though.

I grew up in Millburn, & before la strada was sold, it was our local go to, BUT once we all got our drivers licenses, it was all about Maplewood & Roman Gourmet or Village Trattoria(I THINK there’s a story that the owner of Village, trained under Roman Gourmet, however I could be TOTALLY wrong). I’m almost 30 now and whenever we visit the pops, we head back here. My sig other agrees it’s worth the extra drive despite really good options in walking distance from our Millburn home… Came back today before driving back to DC, first thought of getting some premade slices heated, then decided on a medium speciality then just got real and ordered a large half grandmas special(something like that), and half chicken vodka … It took a full 20 – 25 minutes but O-M-G, especially the grandma one, sweet and tangy sauce, paper thin crust that’s chewy AND with a fantastic crunch, and fresh basil & mozz… I’ve always liked their vodka sauce but I think Id have liked the buffalo chicken possibly more(more of a kick). Can’t wait for our next visit and«fix»!

Food is ok, employees start putting up chairs, cleaning and giving you funny looks if you come in 1 hour before close time. If they want to close at 9, then don’t advertise that you close at 10!

Pizza is below average. I get forced to go here every now and then when I have a client or co-worker who insists on it. Everything is eh. Some of the pizza combinations make no sense. Service has never been great. Roman Gourmet is a block away… food is MUCH better and service is MUCH better. Avoid.

Our favorite pizza spot in town — they introduced us to the glory of the drunken grandma pizza(vodka sauce rather than marinara) and it’s our go-to. If you want something other than pizza, menu also has hoagies and good pasta dishes. For the latter, it’s nice that they have 2 sizes, with the small appropriate for one and the larger good for sharing. The pieces of bread that come with pasta and salads is also surprisingly yummy. Not much ambience inside but appears to be a place that groups of teens like to sit and hang.

This place didn’t do it for me. Trattoria is a very grand word for a local pizza joint. We ordered a few slices for a late lunch and as much as my husband enjoyed his, I really did not enjoy either of my two slices. I had the baked ziti pizza which was pretty tasteless and the margarita pizza which was just ok as it didn’t have basil and the sauce tasted completely canned… This would not be my first choice for pizza in the neighborhood however I could see how it could appeal to some looking for huge slices and very american toppings like baked ziti, bbq chicken, etc

BESTMEATLASAGNAEVER! Be prepared to split it with someone as the portions are HUGE! All the food is really good. And the service is as it should be. Happy people, doing a great job at providing their customers with excellent service. I work in town, and their Chicken Cesaer is my «go to» lunch choice from them.(Can’t eat the lasagna every day ;-)) Go and enjoy! You can thank me later!

The best pizza in Summit(that I’ve had so far). The seating is a little tight, but the food more than makes up for it. Their margarita pizza is amassing — a new level of yummy. The buffalo chicken pizza is also great, but I can’t eat more than one slice(the sauce is a very rich and creamy). This is a good place to go with the family. I’ve heard people complain about the service, but I’ve never experienced any issues. Make no mistake, this is not a «fine dining» atmosphere, but the food delivers. This is a BYOB and there is a liquor store a few doors down. One problem — they do not deliver. Seems like they should, given the great quality food and limited space. I see plenty of people get a pizza with ziti on it — seems kinda crazy to me. I’ve not yet tried it.

We ordered from Village Trattoria as our friends have raved about their pizza as being the best they ever had, including NYC contenders. We ordered a large pie, half roni, half sausage peppers and mushrooms. I was hungry so I also ordered the chicken fingers and fries. Hubby went to pick up and used a $ 2 coupon we received in the mail. Service was good. Okay so here is where I disclose my preference for a specific kind of pizza sauce that is very common in NYC — the first flavor notes are usually oregano and tomato with a tad of sweetness. Village Trattoria’s sauce is yummy but not my favored kind, as the first note is salt and tomato and not much on the Italian seasonings. I doused my slice in oregano and it achieved the balance for me. Now for the crust, yanno, I really do a judge a slice on how well it holds up to being folded in half and this offering had a floppy pointer. So I tried reheating the slice in the oven for a few minutes, from 400 to 500 degrees. It improved the slice but not enough to make a good crusty fold. That’s okay, you know what they say about pizza, good bad mediocre, at least you still had pizza. The chicken fingers and fries were awesomely priced and they included honey mustard for me at no extra charge. Good value. I can see myself swinging by to pick up a roni slice and chicken basket for a quick meal for days I don’t have it in me to use our pizza stone.
