Technically it is called the Walkway of Lights and NOT the Trail of Lights. Austin’s light display is called Trail of Lights. It has been a staple in Marble Falls for a long time. It is free to park and free to enter. They do want to know where you are visiting from. Some years they ask for your zip code, others the actual city you live in. It is on the banks of Lake Marble Falls. There is an incline on the top walk way. It slopes down to the lake. My father who is 80 has a bit of an issue with the incline but others shouldn’t. The entire thing has a few inclines through out. It is not flat but nothing most of us can’t handle. It does tend to be the same year after year. This year they added one or two new things. Santa is usually at the end on the weekends for photos. At the half way point there is a trailer for snack for purchase. Only bathroom facilities are porta potties on the outside of the walk way. I encourage donations so they can keep this tradition alive. We come every year. Thank you city of Marble Falls.

This is a nice exhibit that you walk through. What is amazing is that it is free. You can make a donation if you wish. This is located in a really pretty area. It is along the banks of the river at US Hwy 281. The hardest thing is finding how to get to the entrance and find a parking spot. Parking is free also. When you walk up to the entrance you are met by someone with a clip board. All they want to do is to find out where you are visiting from. They tell you to follow the trail and to take your time. As you enter the trail, you see the sponsors that have donated to cover some of the expenses. It is a nice trail that you follow, and the crowd moves along pretty quickly. You see lots of pictures being taken, and everybody seems to be having fun. I know we did. Will I return? I take my family every year, so I will be back.

A visit to Marble Falls during xmas time wouldn’t be complete without visiting this FREE walkway of lights at Lakeside Park. They say the lights reflect off the lake, but you can’t see that much walking amongst the bright lights. Did I mention free? They do have about 3 or 4 donation boxes along the path, in case you feel charitable. This light display is placed all through the park and half way through, they have the Boy Scouts in a food trailer serving hot chocolate, nachos and popcorn, all for $ 1 each. Parking was pretty easy I thought too

Best Trail of Lights in the Texas Hill Country in 2010-11. There is no cost, but they do accept cash donations! Combine a trip here with a trip to see the lights at the Courthouse AND the Pedernales Electric Co-Op in downtown Johnson City, and you’ve got a sure winner for all ages! At the PECHQ(in johnson City), they have a trailer with $ 1 hot chocolates and so many lights, it shines like THESUN!
