I really want to review this place well, b/c it is really cute, but quite frankly our food straight up stank. I had the tortilla crusted buffalo steak and it had a very odd, not good taste. It came with mashed potatoes which were awesome. I ate those. My husband had pasta with seared tuna. The tuna was great, the sauce was seriously just not good. We also ordered tortilla chips and salsa which was outstanding. We really wanted it to be good. I’d go back for lunch to give them a second chance if you were paying.

If it wasn’t for Texas Nation, I don’t think I’d spend most of my brunches wanting to denounce my citizenship in California Nation. If their Sunday Jazz brunch bbq and the amazing brisket sandwich they serve were any indicator of the greatness that is Texas, I would say that Texas is pretty damn great. For starters, nothing on their brunch menu is over $ 15. The choices include brisket, sausage, ribs, chicken and basically anything that is popularly barbecued in Texas and the standard coleslaw/bread/potato salad sides. AND then there’s the live jazz. AND everything is so rustic-y, country Texas chic. Despite all this, the restaurant is pretty modest — nothing about it boasts of wanting to be a part of a corporately owned chain.

My review of the service and food remains, however, I stand possibly corrected on the credit card given info from Unilocaler Tony R: «I work in the credit card industry and what you are probably seeing online is the pre-auth approval. When restaurants swipe your card, they automatically add 20% for the pre-auth for the tip. Then they add the real tip after you sign and that gets batched with all of the other credit cards that night. But it sometime takes 2 to 3 days to clear all of the banks. »
