Classic, been around since I was born, always a fair price for a good cut.

Came into Marblehead on vacation. Shaggy hair. Read the reviews, hate pretentious Salons. Nancy cut my hair, great job. Easy, I look good and the reviews on this place right on.

This was the best haircut I have had in a long time and the barbers in this place are a bunch of jokesters… bring your sense of humor and your going to have a great time! I’m from out of town and was on a business trip to Boston so I decided to take a drive up the coast. I stumbled upon Silver Shears in Marblehead and walked right in the shop and got my haircut immediately. A real nice brunette girl cut my hair and the other barbers were cracking jokes the whole time. Real sense of family in this barber shop and they will give you a great haircut. Everytime I’m in town I will go back to Silver Shears. I recommend to anybody in Marblehead or the surrounding area to check it out. You will not be disappointed!

Completely random visit for us on a Friday afternoon. Visiting Boston from San Francisco, my boyfriend stopped in here to take off several month’s worth of shag. What better place than Marblehead? We’re thrill seekers. Walked right in, and instantly got«the best haircut» he’s ever had. No pain, no nicks/cuts, and he came out looking like a movie star in 15 minutes. $ 18 was it, and we headed over to Dunkin Donuts across the parking lot for a victory cocoa. If you need a clip, a cut, or a lawnmower, check this place out. They know what they’re doing.

A haircut is like therapy for me. Some people pay $ 150 for a shrink, whereas the clean feeling of a good haircut does the trick for me(and saves me a fortune). However, it’s only relaxing if I can trust the person holding the blades and know that I’ll be happy with the outcome. Out of 15 – 20 places I’ve had a haircut in my lifetime, there are only 3 that I recommend. I’m pretty harsh. Kenny at SS understood exactly what I was looking for on my first visit. It’s a great personable group there and they are always staffed appropriately. If you are not picky about who cuts your hair there is rarely a wait. Even better, if you prefer to see someone specific they have the courtesy to let you know if there are others ahead of you so you can estimate the wait time or return later. They don’t overlook those little details that improve the overall experience. As another review mentioned, the straightedge razor for sideburns and neck are a lost art at most barber shops. The space is clean and offers plenty of seating. Prices are very reasonable for the service quality and the staff clearly appreciates their loyal customers. What more can you ask for?

I live far from Marblehead now, but I still return to Silver Shears for my haircuts. What I like about it is that, despite being a busy shop, they always are staffed appropriately so I know I’ll be in the chair getting clipped within 10 minutes of arriving(no appointments necessary). I also appreciate the reasonable price for a haircut: $ 18, and it hasn’t gone up in the four years I’ve been going there. Obviously, I’m pleased with the haircut itself, or the rest wouldn’t matter. My favorite barber at the Shears is a guy who studies Norwegian by reading Donald Duck comics translated in the language. I’m afraid I don’t know his name; I’m not the sort who asks names of service persons, but he’s a nice guy who gives a good haircut and has an easygoing conversational style. The other barbers/stylists are pleasant, too. So if you are shaggy in Salem or Swampscott, or even Saugus, drive on up to the Shears for a quality cut, and then perhaps have a gambol about Marblehead afterwards, showing off your pimpin’ new haircut to the blue-hairs and soccer moms.
