My friends and I stayed the evening in some suites after skiing at Belleayre. We are from NYC and we were drawn in by the 99 cents pizza slice sign. I should have known this was not going to be the dollar slices you typically see in St. Marks. The pizza looked like it was baked in a Easy-bake oven(I digress). Their sandwich selection is pretty good. I ordered the hot pastrami on rye as well as the chicken caesar wrap. The sandwiches are not soggy and were made well! The portion for their heroes is very generous and many of my friends could not finish them. If you are looking for a place to eat in Maragretville, stay away from their pizza but do try their sandwiches.

Based on ice cream only! It was great, giant scoops of ice cream and its really cheap! Excellent ice cream!

The owner needs to pay more attention to the food and service of this establishment. 4 adults and one child and i couldn’t decide who’s plate was more disgusting! Prime rib that cost $ 9.95 should have been the warning. Fries the color of mahogany, square over cooked fish(fish and chip), prime rib that was pan fried, fake mashed, etc… It was an all around yuck fest. My 10 month old son was yelling…(not over the top obnoxious, otherwise we would have pulled him outside). Someone from the kitchen yelled«Go home!». My response was«WEARE !!». The waitress was fine and the place was very slow. No surprise. OWNERSTAKENOTICE! As a small restaurant owner i would never allow kids to run my business or food like that to leave the kitchen. Lastly, change your grease and serve some golden fries. Thats your gravy!!!

I was in the area for a wedding, found this place because it was basically one of the only places nearby. I will note, I’m from near NYC so I have pretty high standards for diner-type restaurants. This didn’t cut it for me. Service: I’d give it 4 stars. We were with a group of 12 and the waitress was great. Everything came out right, timely and she was pleasant. Restaurant: Not very clean. Old fashioned-y with black and white square tiles and lots of old signs for décor. The bathroom was weird(see pictures). One bathroom has two toilets with no separation… kind of defeats the purpose of having two toilets if only one person can use it at a time. Food: meh. I ordered the pea soup which just looked like bright green purée. I love pea soup but wasn’t a fan of this consistency or color at all. I also ordered an egg wrap with ham and cheese in it. The wrap was some type of seasoned wrap and the outside was pretty oily. I’d much prefer a plain wrap and it doesn’t have to be toasted. Wish they would have let me know the wrap would not be plain.

We just stopped in for ice cream. The server was pleasant. The ice cream tasted good but the chocolate peanut butter ripple had some freezer burn on it. Not the best in town like the sign said… check out the place right next door attached to the Cheese Barrel instead.

We have a place upstate, so we visit Margaretville a lot. The food is simple and cheap. They have a lot of icecream flavors which my kids love. We visited there fourth of July weekend and had icecream sundaes. I would recommend the place. But be prepared that the place is not the cleanest. The floor is filthy and the barstool area needs a good scrubbing. If you can get over that enjoy.

We came up to Margaretville for the weekend and stopped in Bun for an afternoon snack. I had the chicken tenders and my hubby has the turkey club. Both orders were good and came out quickly with large portions. We also really liked the curly fries. We will definitely stop ere agin the next time we are in the neighborhood ;)

Stopped here traveling through the catskills just last week. This place was simply fantastic. Got nachos for the appetizer which were amazing, you wouldn’t expect nachos to be this good at a place like this either. For the main course I had chicken quesadillas which were also great. To top it off i had a red velvet cake cone and it was some of the best ice-cream I’ve had in a while. Low prices, friendly service and clean bathrooms would stop here again.

Went to the bun n cone one summer evening ane enjoyed some great hard serve chocolate and peanut butter ice cream. The two-holer ladies room will take some getting used to.

Just what you’d expect from a hometown burger/cone joint. Quick service, low prices and fried everything. The only thing I did not like was the quick draw lottery TVs inside. I expect them in a bar, but in a family friendly restaurant it was a bit of a turnoff. I didn’t like my 8 year old watching it.

I am so happy they reopened up after the Hurricane and Flood of 2011 !!! I have eaten here over a dozen times. The food is typical diner food, reasonably priced, and everything has always been good — from burgers, soups, salads, to sandwiches, and even nachos. The décor is accurately described by a previous reviewer, and puts you in a happy mood. The one criticism I can make(but wont prevent me from going back) is that the whole place can use some minor renovation and upgrading. The ice cream is another story… and a good one. The soft is always just right, and there is a great selection of hard. Sometimes we go twice a day. The hardworking owners always seem to be present and appear to take pride in running this place. The servers are very young, and have always been pleasant, seeming to take the lead from the owners in providing ‘service with a smile’

SO excited to review the Bun ‘N Cone. This diner was around before I was born, and it is still going strong! Its even open until 9 or 10 in the summer for ice-cream, when every other business is closed. The food is average, like any greasy spoon. Nevertheless, 5 stars for the flair, personality and overall awesomeness the Bun N’ Cone brings to Margaretville– the town just wouldn’t be the same without it.

Every time we visit family here my husband & I always stop at Bun ‘N Cone. The burgers are always cooked medium, but other than that they’re decent. Where they shine are their magnificent skinny fries and yummy zesty curly fries. The milkshakes are delicious! I appreciate the nod towards the diner culture with the 1950s & Marilyn Monroe retro décor, which makes it wonderfully over-the-top tacky. The service is always fast and friendly, the establishment run down but spotlessly clean, and they always open at 7 am, even if it’s MLK day and they just got 2 inches of snow. :) Plus they’ll serve burgers and fries at 7 am too, which is always appreciated.

This place was a saving grace for me and my friends last Labor Day weekend after the atmosphere at two other local establishments proved a bit hostile to our kind. Though the Bun N Cone was closing, a very sweet waitress was kind enough to wrassle up some burgers, fries, and shakes even though the kitchen was *this* close to closing and her family was waiting on her to leave. She was nothing other than sweet, friendly, and extremely helpful, making us feel at ease and very grateful. I wish I remembered her name! Waitress, I will forever have a spot spot in my heart for you and the Bun N Cone! (It’s worth mentioning that the food was great too).

I love this little place. Again, I seriously haven’t been up there in probably 7 years, and probably will never make it up there again, but the food is little diner/mom-&-pop shop good. The basics: burgers, fries, ice cream, etc. It’s an adorable little place. And really, with a name like Bun ‘N Cone? You know what you’re getting, and you can’t go wrong.
