I had no problems with Dr. Gailitis, but won’t be returning due to the unpleasantness dealing with Mary Ann of his office. I went in for a routine eye exam that would have been fully covered by my insurance. At the end of my exam, the doctor asked me if I had any problems. I told him sometimes at the end of a long day at work staring at a monitor my vision get blurry. He said just put in eye drops to lubricate them. When I got my insurance claim, I was charged a deductible because Mary Ann had filed my claim as a medical issue due to the blurry eyes comment. My insurance rep said I’d get my deductible back if the claim was re-filed as an eye exam. When I called Mary Ann and asked her to re-file, she got nasty about it and refused. The insurance rep also talked to her but she had the same attitude. I had to request a hearing with the insurance company appeals board and plead my case to get my $ 50 deductible back. They sided with me, but it took several months before my money was returned. I won’t be back to due to this one unpleasant person there.

In 2005, I decided to take the plunge and undergo Lasik surgery. My operation went well, and corrected my vision to perfect. However, I had a small hitch during the healing process where epitheleal cells got trapped under the flap of one eye, and since this was very painful(as if an eyelash had fallen onto the eye a got stuck there), I had to go back into surgery to peel back the flap, have the cells scraped and then close the flap again. Today I have no problems with either eye, and I still have perfect vision. The surgery was quite expensive(around $ 4k including an insurance discount) but being able to see when I wake up in the morning is worth every penny! As a side note, the office is beautiful and the staff very pleasant and helpful. Overall, I would recommend Dr. G to do your lasik surgery.
