Excellent food, great service and a REAL sub! If you are hungry this is THE place! A huge sub with loads of meat. I will come back when in the area.

Found this place on Unilocal because I was craving tuna from a deli and happened to be working in the area right down the street. Went there a whim for some lunch to find out they were sold out of there tuna, which means it must be good!!! I settled for a turkey wrap which beyond surpassed my expectations. Something about their meat was so light and fluffy and perfect… like butter. The owner was the friendliest person ever and comped our drinks. I think Shavedway has gained a customer for life… at least when I’m working in the area. Next time I’ll get that tuna!

The food here is awesome. I love the chef salad and Cuban sandwich. The owner Bill and his family catered our small wedding. Everyone loved the subs and wraps. Thanks Bill for the great food and service.

Yes I still adore shavedway Subs they are the best around. When I walked in it was like a family reunion I hadn’t seen the owner and here she catered my birthday party last year. Caught up on all the gossip found out what was new what was blue what was borrowed and what was old. Got a fantastic Cuban Sub, it is my favorite because it has a whip mayonnaise that’s just delicious and the way he presses the bread is fantastic. I was pulled between the meatball sub and the cube and because both are really delicious but I remembered how good the whipped mayonnaise is on the Cuban and decided to go with that the 8-​inch is the smaller of the two and is gigantic. I was able to use my checking offer this time for the free soda and got my favorite Birch Beer. I took my Cuban sandwich to go I spoke a little longer and hit the road thank you again shaved way for a delicious sandwich you guys are the best.

I’ve been coming here for years and it is my favorite sub shop ever! The way the meat is cut and right in front of you makes it so delicious. Then on top of that he has my favorite add on, sweet peppers. The sandwich melts in your mouth and is stacked high so it’s really filling. And to top off everything he has birch beer as a fountain drink. Literally the best sub shop I’ve ever been to and that I’ll ever be to.

First timer, small place walked in and ordered the Habanero 12″. I am now gorging myself on one of the best subs I have had. I have to admit that I looked over this place a couple of times for lunch but no more! I really like LaSpada’s but this place edges them out on taste. Happy to have given it a try and I am sure there will be more visits from me!

Decided to try out this sub place for lunch the other day on my break. I decided to phone in my order because idk how busy they are. I got there and the sub was ready to go when I arrived. There was only person working and i believe he was the owner and business looked slow. But the place is awesome! Help the business out and try this place. You won’t be upset!

A colleague of mine mentioned this place and I tried it today. One word-​Amazing. We ordered the meatball sub and the Cuban. With every bite it just got better. Do not drive past this place. You are in for a treat. Best sandwich I’ve had.

I was in the area for work and stopped by because it had pretty good reviews. I’m so glad I stopped by because the owner loves what he does and takes pride in his business which translates into is sandwiches. He recommended the Cuban and it was so incredible delicious. I wish I worked in the area so I could try the meatball sandwich that he also suggested. He told us that he’s a one man shop so if it’s busy, there might be a little wait but it’s definitely worth it. I’ll definitely be going back if I’m ever in the area again. This place deserves all 5 stars!

This is my second time here and this place does not disappoint the subs are awesome the owners great he’s very accommodating nice clean little spot if you want to eat in there a few tables outside or you can take it to go Or you can take it to go enjoy and Bön Appetit

I have been to a lot of sub shops in my life and I am happy to report that this place is one of my favorites.
This place defines what a locally owned and managed subshop is as the owner is Billy and greets everyone that walks in (usually by name if you have been here before) and amazingly he knows if this is your first visit and informs you that drinks are on the house for first time visitors.
The menu is typical of subshops and the only challenge you will have is deciding what to order and if you take too long to decide, Billy is quick to offer advice or even a little jab, sorta like the soup nazi on Seinfeld, but in a friendlier way.
I have had three different subs here on three different visits and they were all spectacular.
The Philly cheesesteak was definitely the best I have had as he puts a special twist on this sub where he hits it with some sweet bbq sauce and it seriously melts in your mouth good.
The standard turkey with bacon and cheese on a white sub was also spectacular and dare I say even better than Laspada’s.
The big hot mess is a turkey, roast beef, cheese, and sauce on a hot pressed subroll is the American version of a Cuban sandwich and also extremely good.
I also order the combo with the dirty chips (hooray) and a soda (Birch beer).
Unfortunately, this place is closed on Sunday, but the owner definitely needs a rest and it probably would not be the same without him there.

Great little spot for a delicious sandwich. The owner, Bill, is a sweetheart. He’s very passionate about what he does and helping the community. I’m happy I stopped by and I plan to be back. The meat was all so fresh. The environment was great. You can tell this is where the locals go. I highly recommend it!

Very good!!! I got a hot mess: roast beef, turkey bacon, cheese and bbq sauce. Just plain yummy! This was a pleasant drop in! The reviews brought me in. The owner bill, makes one hell of a sub. It’s full of flavor and extremely tasty. Not greasy. I got it on wheat bread. I love the combo of sweet and salty.

Recently on a Saturday afternoon I was craving a sandwich (I have strange cravings lol). Publix wouldn’t do so I checked my Unilocal app and found this awesome little gem of a place! Shavedway Subs is locally owned and I even got a chance to chat with the owner on my arrival. He knew immediately that my friend and I had never been there lol his exact words were «Grab a free soda on your way out I can tell you have never been here before» which I replied with «lol how do you know?» and he said «Cause I know everyone that comes here lol» haha! I believed him too cause the place was small and in a plaza that’s probably not super busy but you could tell they knew how to make awesome subs/​sandwiches!
I decided to go with the Cuban sandwich by the pictures and it was such a good decision. Completely stuffed full of meats they do not skimp one bit and perfectly toasted up. I dove right in on the car ride home cause I couldn’t resist! The smell alone was intoxicating it was that good! My friend got the Italian and loaded it up with toppings. She asked for extra cheese and they really hooked her up with extra cheese. Again they do not cheap out which I really appreciate. The bread was perfect and soft, quality meats/​cheeses (sliced to order I might add) and several awesome toppings you could not ask for a better sandwich shop, I can’t wait to go back.
On my way out I did make sure to grab that soda and to my delight saw that they have Birch Beer! Say What?!? If I am going to indulge in some soda this is one of my favorites! Side note it does say on your Unilocal check in that you get a free fountain soda with check in but the owner offered it up before I had a chance to even show him. Great guy and obviously loves what he does and pays attention to detail. The place was spotless clean as well which just shows you its a family owned type place and they really care about it. And they had the «people love us on Unilocal» sticker on the door so you know its a great place!

This place is down the street from my house, so when ever I crave a great filling sub I head over to shaved ways.
They have so many different kinds of sub. I’ve had the Cuban, the turkey and Italian and my husband has had the Cuban, BBQ cheesecake and meatball sub.
By far the best is the Cuban and the Italian sub.
The owner and staff are super friendly and they definitely don’t skimp you on the meat. A 12″ sub could feed about four people. The meat is very fresh and the bread is so soft.
Give this place a try if you haven’t already!

Ordered the Bigga boy. The sandwich had about 1 lb of meat and 2−3oz of cheese. I did not enjoy the sub as much as I thought I would. I like to have layers of flavors in the food I eat; this sub tasted of pure meat. I am rating this as a 5 star for now because the staff was very friendly and service was prompt. Also I went with a coworker who ordered the hot pressed Cuban which looked very good.
I will be back to try a less ridiculous sub. Expect an future update.

My sub was amazing!!! The bread was soft, the bacon was crunchy, and the toppings were fresh! The owner is very kind and I am soooo happy I stopped in, this place is a gem.

We always get Shavedway Subs for catering events at work. I’ve had the cuban as well as many of the other subs since we always have them cater. The meat is fresh and so are the vegetables. Cuban is large and packed with all the right stuff. Delicious and filling! We come here all the time since the boyfriend has been eating here from working where I am now too! We’re big fans.

Phenomenal! Was looking for a great Cuban sandwich on my vacation visiting my parents down here in Pompano Beach. Unilocal gave me 2 places to try. One had 4.5 stars on 55 reviews, the other had 5 on 12 reviews. Figured its a crap shoot at that point. 1 has more reviews the other had half star more. So i read more into the reviews. Talk about a passionate owner and «best cuban» swayed us here. I’ll tell you, I’d drive at least 30 – 45 mins for this Cuban if I had to do it all over again.
Place is small in strip mall type area. Could easily miss it if you’re not looking for it. Walked in owner asked if it was first time and it was so he gave us an excellent detailed run down of the menu. I was already set on the Cuban so I was sold. What an awesome, energetic, genuinely kind guy he was. He asked if we found it on Unilocal and I told him yes. He loves Unilocal because obviously it helps small businesses over the corporate chains. I have to say I’m a small business fan myself as well, especially when you get quality food like this over the commercially made, processed, cheaper foods that the chain serve.
Owner was fantastic. The sandwiches were unreal! Got a Cuban 8 inch on wheat with mayo and spicy brown mustard. Pork and ham sliced thin. Swiss was oozing out. Was sweet, smoky, and filling. Brother was a little more courageous and got the 12 inch… he almost had to be rolled out, haha. I will definitely be asking for extra pickles on my sandwich next time. They were great as well and added a nice sweet/​sour bite to the sandwich.
Mom and gf got the Italian sandwiches, one hot one cold and they loved them. Both took a half home.
Place is very clean (one of my first observations anywhere), staff was very friendly, lots of regulars (seemed as if everyone knew the owner and he knew them), again great food, free soda with a Unilocal check in haha.
Overall a great lunch. Wish I was going to be in Florida longer. My brother is already talking about going back tomorrow. .and my step-​father who didn’t get to go with us was a little upset, so I’m sure he and my mom will be frequenting this place once he gets to try it. Makes me a little bit jealous. Oh well, gives me another reason to come back to Florida to visit the parents!

I have passed by this place so many times I’m sorry that it has taken me this long to stop in. Unilocalers have made it clear that this place is a hidden gem. I can not agree more. It’s in a small strip mall on Atlantic Blvd. just south of Lyons on the south side of the road. The subs are made to order, no pre-​cooked meat here like some places. I was having idle conversation with the patrons that were there, they had great things to say. I had already placed my order but the regulars said the Cuban was awesome. Check the pic. The owner really takes pride in his business. He is a humble guy and really appreciates every customer. He evens knows his regulars favorite subs. No commercial atmosphere here. Stop in, you will be happy you did.
