A small, tucked in eatery; what a great surprise. My companion had to see what the cinnamon bun was all about… It’s Major! Excellent menu, great portions and terrific food.

Nice place. Friendly and prompt service. Restaurant is very clean and provides a nice ambience. Food came out quickly. The breakfast was really good. Especially liked the home fries. Menu had a good variety of options. Definitely recommend this place.

Had eggs benedict here this morning. The hollandaise sauce was obviously store bought, the potatoes were burnt to a crisp, and the ham was like cardboard. To make matters worse, the one thing that was good was their coffee, but they don’t like to share it. I had an empty cup most of my meal. Mind you this place is not busy, instead the staff would rather stand around regaling in fishing stories than actually serve their customers.

Took two friends here .it’s their first time and we all ordered different items. Joe had the pancakes with no sugar syrup, Anna had a Belgium waffle and I ordered biscuits and gravy. Each of our meals were delicious and came out piping hot! The pancakes(two cakes) were huge and fluffy and joe devoured both in one swoop.lol.Anna loved her waffle(shes a waffle snob so they MUST be THAT good) and my half order of the biscuits and gravy was rich and creamy and the biscuits were soft and flaky. I really enjoyed my meal! Best part the three breakfasts were under 20 dollars total! wow! I am glad I turned my friends on to a new place that they liked. I had to break them out of the lesters routine as The Gem serves such better HOMECOOKED from scratch meals. I will be back for sure!

Phenomenal food, service and ownership. Chicken sandwiches are a great«go-to» and the cinnamon rolls are exceptional too. Can’t wait to come back again(and again, and again…)

I just can’t get over how good this place is. It’s become an all time favorite, and not just for Breakfast, the lunch is incredible. Today we had the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and the Grilled Chicken Panini. The Buffalo sandwich was perfect, covered and fried with panko, real blue cheese plenty of hot sauce and perfect bread. This sandwich is bold and packs a punch of flavor. The panini was totally different, sophisticated full of complementing flavors. Every bite has chicken and the taste of goat cheese. They don’t skimp. The cinnamon role needs no more added to what else has been said. It’s down right wickedly good. It’s gooey soft, and melts in your mouth. This place is nothing short of a culinary experience. Be prepared for a pallet blowing experience. Keep up the good work, don’t change a thing.

Drive too fast and you might miss this little place, but what a mistake that would be. If you are in the Margate, Coral Springs, Coconut Creek are in the AM, this is a must. The cinnamon rolls are made from scratch, warm and gooey when brought to the table. Everything was made to order and brought in a timely manner. A great first experience, we are def coming back.

There’s a party in my tummy!!! Pros: I was looking for a good brunch place near coconut creek and I found this gem of a place. I had the gem signature salad and my daughter had the pancakes. They were both delicious. My salad was fresh and very tasty. IFYOUCOMEHERE, ORDERTHECINNAMONBUN!!! This place is also very clean. Cons: We also had fries, which were not crispy and kind of oily. Maybe the temperature on the fryer was too low. The greens in my salad could have been greener. I’m grasping at straws. This place is amazing. I’ll be back.

OMG. This place is AMAZING. Hands down the best breakfast I’ve ever had. I ordered an egg white omelette, scrambled with ham, potatoes, onions and cheddar jack cheese. It was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of each ingredient and the perfect portion. My bf got the Farmer’s omelette and it was equally delicious. It’s a small place so we had to wait about 5 minutes on a Saturday around 10:00am. Service was good, coffee was fresh and prices are less expensive than the diners in this area. We will most definitely come back again and again!

Hands down 5. Everything was exceptional, from the insanely good cinnamon bun to the Italian omelet to the hash browns to the coffee to the. .. And don’t forget the grits. Kudos to the people who work there — they care.

I love this spot! My boyfriend and I come here regularly for breakfast and it truly is a hole in the wall, diamond in the rough. The service has always been great — we always go around 10 and we’ve never had to wait for a table(and there’s only around 8 of them total). The portions are generous and the cinnamon bun is to die for — we nearly slipped into a food coma after devouring the whole thing! Lots of options for vegetarians such as myself!

One of the better cinnamon rolls I’ve had, as advertised here in Unilocal.Presentation is kind of a zero on plates. Speed is also not their thing. If you don’t have a lot of time don’t come. 20 min wait, 15 min to taking an order, 18 to the cinnamon buns and 35 to our food. When it came out there were minor errors that put some people behind others. If you can’t flip tables in a ten top restaurant you are going to lose both money and repeat business. The last time we trekked out here to try it they were closed on an open day. It happens. Nice people, but this place requires more patience than I have and it’s not worth the trip out to this area.

Come here all the time and for some reason keep forgetting to check in. Loooove this place mostly because it reminds me of my mommas cooking that i dont get to eat anymore since she is in california. I usually go on weekdays since its less busy and seem to get better service that way, food is consistently great and dining areas and bathroom are always clean. Went in this morning and my fiances meal was forgotten then brought out well into everyone elses meals. We had to ask for the ketchup, syrup, and butter after our meals were delivered. We felt very rushed when asking questions or even wanting to ask about putting in a to-go order. Like i said i mostly go on weekdays so the rushed service could be a rare occurance but with the gem eatery gaining popularity on Unilocal more servers or kitchen assistance might be needed on the weekends. In the end, the food is great and I love that im supporting a real family and not a corporation. Definitely give this place a try or just keep coming back. :)

Stopped in after a consult in the area. Had to wait a few min for a table as there are maybe 10 – 12 tables max. Servers was very attentive and on their game. I had to try the cinnamon roll based on all the Unilocal reviews and it was delicious. Hot, light, fluffy, sweet and YUM! It was really great! Did I say Yum? Also had the Ultimate Breakfast Burrito, which was stuffed with lots of spinach, peppers, onions, potatoes, bacon, eggs and cheese in a flour tortilla and… just because I also ordered the eggs Benedict. It was simple and classic Benedict with Canadian bacon, English muffin, poached eggs and topped with their hollandaise sauce. It came with home fries, which were basic and delicious. Crispy, simple potatoes cooked to perfection and perfectly seasoned. Overall it was a great breakfast and experience. I can’t wait to go back.

After reading such great reviews and drooling over so many pictures I decided to check out the Gem Eatery for breakfast one Friday morning. I had taken the day off and I wanted to try a new breakfast place and this was the first place that popped into my head. The name truly suits the place because it really is a hidden«gem» of a place. I would have never in a million years have found this place had it not been for Unilocal. Its tucked way back in a strip plaza in an area I rarely if ever drive past. When we arrived we grabbed a table quickly and there aren’t many tables so I understand why it can fill up fast. It was Friday after all so no big rush like they get on the weekends(we asked and the waitress said they usually have an hour wait on sat/sun). We got coffee and looked over the specials. I decided to go with one of the specials of the day, a BLT with scrambled egg and cheese served on a Kaiser roll and hash browns. I am not kidding when I say this sandwich was absolutely amazing! The bread was soft and made there fresh, the eggs and bacon were overflowing. I LOVEDIT! My friend got a basic breakfast, scrambled eggs, bacon, pancake and cheese grits. Now the breakfast part was good but let me tell you there was nothing basic about these cheese grits. THEYWEREOVERTHETOPDELICIOUS! No joke my friend has got me into grits lately I honestly never really ate them growing up but even she agreed that these were THEBEST cheese grits either of us had ever had. They were so creamy and cheesy that we decided to order a large side of grits to go to eat later LOL! Since we were there we HAD to get one of their famous giant cinnamon rolls. And wow was it huge and just like everything else we ate, it was delicious! We couldn’t even make a dent in it(we tried our best) but it reheated nicely later at home so nothing went to waste. Our waitress was also super nice and kept our coffees cups full no matter how busy she got. We absolutely fell in love with this place and once again thanks to Unilocal I found a new favorite place to eat. We will be back FORSURE! Make sure you get the grits and the cinnamon roll you will not regret it!

FLANCAFECONLECHE. You will need to know nothing more than this. If this place was closer I’d be here every day for the flan café con leche — I got mine iced. It’s delicious. The place is tucked into a shopping center — and I would have never stopped here if it wasn’t for Unilocal. It’s crazy how many GEMS there are to discover(see what I did there?). Good ol dinner grub, breakfast anytime and«down-home» service is what you will get here. Can we talk about the massive cinnamon bun. So massive that two of us couldn’t finish it. It was delicious, but just way too big. But we tried… I promise we tried. I don’t have many regrets, but not boxing that up and heating it up for dinner that night is one regret I will live with forever. I went with breakfast for lunch cause YOLO, and had the 2 eggs, bacon, homefries and toast. Good ol breakfast. This is the kind of «diner» that I like — you don’t feel disgusted by the place, but the food is still cheap, tasty and slathered in grease/butter(read: delicious). Only one server, but she managed it like a boss!!! Seriously, she had an almost packed house and was excellent! So, I had 2 coffees, my breakfast, the cinnamon bun and a veggie omelette —- it was only $ 21!

I really wanted to love this place, but the experience was just okay for me. Clyde, my cousin Gary, and I went there based on all the five star reviews on Unilocal. They have a regular menu and a separate menu for that days specials. We ordered off of the special menu. I ordered grilled chicken which was lightly breaded. It came with a green salad with walnuts, watermelon, and feta with balsamic dressing. I liked the salad, but it overwhelmed the chicken. The dressing on the salad was a bit heavy. The watermelon added a nice flavor and the walnuts gave it crunch. The chicken was good and very tender. It had a light lemon butter sauce. Clyde and Gary each ordered the 11 oz. New York strip steak. It came with soup or salad and one side. They both got lentil soup, which they liked. Clyde really liked his steak. He said it was tasty with a nice glaze. He also had mashed potatoes. Gary cut into his steak and said there was gristle running through it. He tried it and said it was tough. Clyde tasted Gary’s steak and agreed that it was chewy. We told our server and she took the steak to the kitchen. A few minutes later the owner came out and insisted both steaks were cut from the same piece of meat and they were both the same. Gary pointed out that his steak had a line of gristle running through it. The owner acted annoyed, but offered to replace his steak. Gary didn’t want to take a chance on another steak so he asked for a hamburger instead. The hamburger came out in a few minutes. Gary wasn’t happy with the hamburger either because it was rare and he had ordered medium. He didn’t send it back or say anything to the owner. I felt bad since it was my idea to go there. When so many Unilocalers like a restaurant it should be great. Clyde and I are going to go back. No, we’re not bringing Gary. I’ll update my review after we go. With all those great Unilocal reviews I want to give this restaurant another try.

I began my meal at the Gem Eatery with a delicious bowl of lentil soup. It was followed by a main course of New York Strip steak cooked perfectly medium. It was very tender. I had a side dish of creamy mashed potatoes – excellent. Everything was great. I enjoyed it immensely. I had a luke warm bud light to go with it(but the waitress warned me it wouldn’t be cold.) The restaurant was decorated beautifully. The bathroom was immaculate. Parking was very easy. I enjoyed my dinner very much. The waitress was very helpful and friendly. The chef came out when my cousin had a problem with his meal, but he wasn’t particularly friendly or helpful. I on the other hand was completely satisfied with my scrumptious meal. I would gladly return for another round of delightful food.

A new fave breakfast spot. Right off State road 7⁄441 just north of Atlantic on the west side, tucked right next to a Thrift City, Gem Eatery is a «gem» for sure. Hubby and I love breakfast food, I’ll eat a good pancake any day so based on our good Unilocal folks and friends reviews and in conversation, we beelined here as soon as we could. The place is small, homey, my favorite kind of place. We walked in on a mid Saturday morning and were told by a very nice waitress to sit anywhere; it was about half full, not too busy. We sat near the back near the kitchen. My observant hubby noticed upon entry that this was also a bakery – we were close to a video screen that looped pictures of fancy cakes, cookies, catered events and other bakery fare they offered. Then this very happy, friendly gentleman came out of the kitchen with a HUGE tray of HUGE freshly baked cinnamon rolls — I kid you not – I thought we had wandered into some episode of a Food Channel bakery challenge show or guy fieri or something, I thought cameras were going to trail him going through the restaurant. Lol. He just wanted to get the scent of fresh baked buns throughout the place. And tempt the customers, maybe. Epic. Anyway, our minds(and calorie consciousnesses) were set on having a simple breakfast. The menu is pretty straightforward. A few combos, seemed like most items were la carte. I selected to have one pancake with bacon crumbles cooked into the batter. I asked for white chocolate chips to be added. That pancake was so good. And huge. I could only eat half, thanks to our sweetie pie waitress who advised me to order only one. It was chock full of actual pieces of crispy bacon. Hubby had a combo with pancakes, eggs, home fries and bacon. A little slice of watermelon added color made his plate look more appetizing. Those home fries though… Lol! Going back soon for Cinnamon rolls. And my own order home fries. Love!
