Wow what a turn around from O’Shays! Great food and a good beer selection.

I liked the place. Almost empty on a Tuesday night, some kind of open mic going on in the dark corner on the other side of the bar. Lots of folks coming in with leather cue stick cases, so I’m guessing this is where the serious pool dudes hang out. Good beer selection(for Maricopa), incredible vodka and whiskey selection. Food was so-so. Catfish was a steal and very good, BLT was delivered on burnt toast. Friendly staff, I’m guessing this is a great place to hang out after you get off work at the casino. Big room, too. I think they’re still working out the details of what they want to be, so I’ll give them a thumbs up…

True Grit Tavern is like a second home. Amazing food and drinks. The staff are all so awesome. Let’s talk a little about them all. Stephanie is super sweet and has a contagious smile. She makes these amazing margaritas. I’m not sure what the secret is but it’s amazing. Janice is a lovely blonde sweet talker. Very hard worker and gives great advise on drinks to try. Ana is a very inventive bartender. Her Ana banana shot is super yummy. On Saturday nights she sings Karaōke while making drinks. She raps amazingly well. London is the cutest thing in Maricopa. He brightens up everything around him. Man is he fast on his feet and quick with drinks. I love him behind the bar or serving. His signature drink the London is to die for. Tell him what your taste buds desire and he will make up the perfect concoction for you. He also sings now and then it’s so cute! Daneeka is an amazing server. She is sweet, witty, and remembers what you like to drink. Gorgeous women. She is always getting people to laugh and try new drinks. Jessica is a sweetheart and she is feisty. She really stays on top of your needs. Shaggy is a really great server. He wants everything to be perfect for you and works his butt off to make sure your visit is amazing as does everyone. In the kitchen are amazing cooks. The reason I say they are amazing is simple try the food. I love the pulled chicken sandwich it’s the greatest. Best burger in Maricopa by far is at TGTs. You call it burger is fun and yummy. Fries are super yummy. They have a lot of cheese options to and toppings. You can be inventive on your burger. Some people even get the pulled chicken on the burger; like it’s a giant mountain feast of meat on a brioche bun. On to the drinks. They have so many draft beers it’s ridiculous. Every day they have some drink on special. Dollar mystery beers. A beer a good beer for 1 dollar. 1 dollar jello shots call me every week. The best thing the owner ever did for me was order my favorite drink. I was complaining that it was even hard to find in the store. So they ordered it and have kept it in stock ever since. This bar has been under other names. This is the best name and best owners it has ever had. I forgot to mention on Thursday Friday and Saturday they have a free shuttle. Drink and be safe. Wednesday night trivia is super fun and challenging. Thursday night karaōke and dance its super fun. Friday live DJ for dancing. He takes request and gears songs around the commonly requested. Saturday night Karaōke is my night. Love it so much. Always open pool tables is so awesome. Foods the best. Drinks are the best. Entertainment is the best. All around hands down best place in Maricopa for a good time. I hope to see you on Saturday night come give me a hug. I’ll be dancing.

I’m…actually kind of shocked. O’Shay’s was a shithole of a divebar. I get why some people liked it given our dearth of options in this town, but it was pretty lame. What’s funny is, not that much has changed in True Grit, yet it FEELS better in there. Sure, they just added some shitty faux-old west wood above the same ol’ bar, swapped out some tables for couches(that was dumb) and added a couple of signs, so it’s not like they did a whole lot. But it FEELS better! They also have probably the best craft beer selection in town(which is kind of sad considering it’s not a fantastic selection), and their food has gotten a lot better. Their chicken strips are hand-breaded and delicious and their burgers look great. It’s a place where no one can really feel out of place, even when those scummy looking dudes in the back play pool and try to look cool, or the weirdos on the couch poorly sing karaōke, or the old guys at the end of the bar leer suggestively at anyone with even half a boob. Despite all that, it’s still a better option than the I-Wish-I-Was-A-Classy-Bar Luxe, which sucks. It’s not a fantastic place, but in Maricopa it’s one of your best drinking options.

New owners, new food, new beer. Love the bartenders. We go often, so it nice to walk in and they know what we are drinking the staff is friendly. I am really enjoying this new feel. It kind of reminds me of a Montana bar which is awesome. :) The True Grit Burger is Amazing btw!!!

Let me start by saying they have a few good beers on draft… big blue van and two hearted… and a lot of local brews, I was impressed. When you walk in there is no hostess or assigned seating, you just find a spot. We waited for a menu, waited for a beer, waited to order, waited even longer for our food. There were 2 waitresses for the whole bar… not good service. We ordered the fried shrimp and chicken fingers and we were not impressed at all. There is not enough dining seating and I’m confused by the couches. In the time we were there 2 couples sat down and were never greeted and left, after that 2 girls sat on a couch waiting to get a drink order in, it never happened they had to go to the bar and wait again just to get 1 round of drinks.

We stopped in on Friday night and it was not bad at all the food was much better than when it was called O’Shays, but the Décor is the same. The beers are cold but could’ve been a little colder, and they need to fix the leak in the roof because nobody wants to sit around a bunch of buckets filled with water.

I absolutely love the new atmosphere here. Truely a «Cheers» establishment. The True Grit burger is the best in town. Succulent and really taste like a good cut of beef. Love rhe choice of the pretzel bun. The black bean burger is really tasty and the fish fry(catfish) is a great change from tje usual talapia. Great entertainment with team trivia on wednesdays and karroke on thursdays and saturday. You will enjoy…

Have been here a couple of times since it reopened and didn’t have to say I am pleasantly surprised. I like that the menu has been extended. I tried the steak burger, it was big and the pretzel bun made it memorable for me. I am glad to say that Kevin’s suggestion and service were great, even though he was a little under the weather.

Came here to check out the new place after we called and found out the owners are not the same as O’Shays; cause that place was awful. True Grit has some good bare bones and potential. They’ve got pool tables and of course the bar, some bar top tables and a few booths in the back. Honestly, I think they should ditch the big couches and just get more tables. Most people like their space, unless they’re already drunk. I don’t want to sit on a couch, from who knows where, next to a bunch of strangers. But I’m also a little bit of a germaphobe. I’d rather have my own table or two for the people I’m with. The drink menu is decent and hopefully growing but the food menu was practically non existent. Only a handful of things to choose from. No burgers yet, which was surprising. However, it does say on their menu(and the server told us too) that new food items were on their way. Also, while they have sports playing, we were informed as of right now they don’t show the fights. Dang, I’m hoping that will change. My boyfriend and I were out for dinner so because they didn’t have anything to choose from we ended up leaving. We’ll be back once they’re a bit more established. I hope they turn into a great place because, damn, Maricopa really needs more places for dinner and drinks.
