Canvas meets almost all my criteria for a great coffee shop. Good coffee with free refills, plenty of space and abundant power outlets, good music that’s not too loud, and tasty food for when lunchtime rolls around. For breakfast you can’t go wrong with the breakfast burrito. For lunch I recommend Esme’s Big Nasty for a savory and sweet tasty biscuit sandwich.

I had been here a few years ago and couldn’t remember why I didn’t like it so I thought I would give it another try today. Bad idea. I ordered a pimento cheese sandwich and coleslaw and it was terrible. I have never had spicy pimento cheese before and I don’t wish to have it again. The service was extra slow and all they had done was put a heaping mess of this awful cheese mixture between 2 slices of bread and put what might have been a heaping tablespoon of shredded cabbage doused in vinegar in a cup. Also, they had a slim selection of bottled drinks since their soda fountain station was being put in place. I would have expected a deli type place such as this to at least offer tea– which they didn’t offer at all. I will not be returning here

Came for lunch on a Sunday and sat on the lovely patio. I had the half and half. Half B.L.T and half canvas salad. Both were delicious and made with VERY fresh ingredients. Great spot !

My son and I visited after his Orthopaedic appt that was nearby. We came for brunch as it was around 11:30am or 12pm. So both of us were craving breakfast. I had the breakfast B.L.T with home fries. My son had the French Toast with a side of chicken sausage and 2 scrambled eggs. The Breakfast BLT was amazing and very filling! Fried egg, fried green tomato, lettuce, bacon with a green onion mayo on sourdough bread. The home fries were okay. They were seasoned with small bits of onion. I have had better home fries. The French toast was a homemade brioche bread that was hand cut. One piece was 2 inches thick! The other was probably about 1 – 1.5 inches thick. They were cooked perfectly as it was crunchy on the outside and soft and custard-y on the inside. The chicken sausage had great flavor! Had a kick to it. Almost too spicy but it was really good! The eggs were just like scrambled eggs should be. The inside was really cool. Almost like an ol’fashioned general store meets modem day café’. Plenty of seating inside and a few tables outside. Located close to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital and many of the doctor’s office right there.

I think this place is good at breakfast time I have tried their omelet with chicken onions green peppers(back in March) and it came with home fries and toast on the side… It was a lot of food(I was expecting only the omelet) but the home fries had a piece of hair in it and I was turned off after that… So here it is, Day three(I posted a review from yesterday’s visit), and I’m back… only because my we were celebrating my coworkers last day with us yesterday and today and this café is conveniently located within walking distance. Today, I ordered the Marcella and half of Caesar salad. The salad was good. the sandwich has this sun dried tomato and onion spread with chicken breast slices, I couldn’t eat it. That mixture was so gross Lol… This place just isn’t for my taste buds at lunchtime… However I am interested in trying their Cobb salad minus the avocados!

First time came here to meet up with a friend to carpool, stopped here for breakfast and was amazed by the quality of the food. I had a simple Breakfast BTL that I shared with my sister. I would definitely come here again and recommend this place to anyone who’s around Marietta.

This review is based on our breakfast experience. We came in on a Saturday morning looking for a no-frills but filling breakfast before heading up to Blue Ridge. My fiancé came here for lunch with a friend and said it was really good, but we found the breakfast to be lackluster. The place was pretty empty when we arrived, and we were able to look over the menu without being rushed by other patrons. I ended up getting the American with scrambled eggs, chicken sausage, potatoes and a biscuit. Fiancé got the Breakfast BLT with grits. There were several things wrong with my dish. First off, the cooks didn’t make true scrambled eggs: they cracked it on the griddle and mixed it up, so I had pieces of just whites and others of just yolks. And, it had been cooked too fast on high heat and was somewhat rubbery. Second, the potatoes had some weird seasoning on them; something orange. And, they were cooked with these huge pieces of onion that hadn’t been diced up, they were still in rings. I prefer the EVOO/rosemary style of potatoes that I can dip in ketchup. Oh, and they were cold. Last, my biscuit was stale and tasted like it was made yesterday. I couldn’t pull it apart to spread jelly/butter on the inside and the sides were really hard and crunchy. Overall disappointing. My fiancé’s BBLT was pretty good, though. The sandwich fell apart a few times, but that’s an easy fix. He didn’t like the grits though. Said they weren’t cooked long enough and tasted more like instant microwave grits. However, the coffee was good. They serve Jittery Joe’s. I’m willing to come back to try it for lunch, but I won’t come back for breakfast.

Excellent healthy food in a peaceful and lovely environment. My family has been camping out at the nearby hospice and we have made it our regular lunch place. For those griping about price I say that you get what you pay for. The food has been fresh and delicious and the selection is great. The butternut squash soup got universal raves from everyone in our family. Herbal Tess were a brand that I was not familiar with but wow! Also my sister enjoyed a delicious chai latte tea. We only tried one dessert but the amaretto lemon pound cake was rich and yummy. Pimento cheese was also A-1. With only one exception service has been great, splitting salads for us and making sure that we had everything that we needed. The only reason that I’m giving 4 stars was the annoyed employee who took our order yesterday. Lady, you across from a hospital. Would it kill you to be a little more kind and helpful?

Canvas Café & Bakery is a hip, stylish, little spot off the beaten path located in Marietta, off 75& Church. Don’t blink though because you could pass it! However, once you find it you will know you’re at the right place, and while their location is a little tricky to get to, they reward you with free ample parking. When you go inside you will find that the interior has a slightly urban, inner city feel, except it’s within the comfort of our own backyard, Marietta! Their menu is on a chalk board, as well as printed. You order at a counter and they bring it to your table. They have both indoor/outdoor seating, and indoor counter bar seating. The wait staff is informative, helpful, and friendly enough, without being overbearing. They too have an hip, urban appeal that compliments the overall feel of Canvas Café & Bakery. I have been dining at Canvas over the past 3 years and each time that I have, I have not been disappointed. I love their creative soecialty coffees(esp. black cherry mocha featured for Valentine’s) well as their teas. My favorite meal is the french toast with REAL fresh berries. The one serving is large enough for two if you are feeling generous. I also enjoy a side of fresh scrambled eggs since they are á la carte when ordering the french toast. In the past, I have indulged in one of their blueberry muffins along with a cup of their specialty coffee, and that too was extremely good! I was pleasantly surprise to find the muffin filled with whole fresh fruit and perfectly moist. As for pricing, although they are close to a major hospital where their prices could be high, nevertheless I have found them to be very reasonable for the quality of food that they serve, and for the ambiance. Speaking of ambiance — I would love to see them play lite jazz or easy listening music during Sunday brunch, just to make it feel a little more specail, inviting and relaxing… as Sunday brunch should make one feel. Overall? If you want to feel like you have gone into the city to dine, but really don’t want to deal with the drive, the parking issues or the Buckhead prices then just ease on down the road and give Canvas Café & Bakery a try.

Great place for lunch. Incredible array of salads and sandwiches. Bakery is excellent. And don’t forget to take home some cookies. I had the Cobb salad and took home 2 oatmeal raisin cookies… Delicious. Staff can maybe work on being a little friendlier.

Let me start off by saying that I have been here 3 times. The first time I just got a cupcake or something like that. The second time I got a sandwich which came with regular potato chips from a bag behind the counter. I find it weird that there are no chip choices. Who the hell likes regular, plain, boring ass chips? Obviously not me. Today I get a burger and want fries instead of chips. There is no «up charge» for substituting fries for chips. So now I have paid $ 4.24 for some fries with parmesan cheese and truffle oil on them. Plus I get some chips that I didn’t want. Who eats a burger without fries? Weird people. That’s who. The burger looked awesome until I picked it up and the stale bread started to crumble. Needless to say it is little things like this that drive me crazy and make me find other places to enjoy.

If you’re by yourself, do not order the fries. That is, unless you’re the size of an NFL lineman or want to be. Don’t get me wrong — they’re very tasty. But one pound of fried potatoes to accompany an already large sandwich that comes with more potato chips than you should be eating just isn’t a good idea. I’ve been coming to Canvas since it opened. It was one of the ‘favorite’ eateries of the old Atlanta Cuisine crowd and since it’s not far from my work, I’ve probably racked up about a dozen visits or more. Always great sandwiches and a nice space. This time I went with the Helena sandwich. Excellent. Surprisingly, I had never ordered the fries until this visit. I ate about one fifth of them. And exactly one of the potato chips, which are also very tasty. I walked out very full and very satisfied. Not cheap but worth it.

This is one of my favorite places to grab a quick sandwich, salad, bowl of soup or a cupcake! OHTHECUPCAKES!!! Locally owned located near Kennestone Regional Medical Center. Their menu covers everything breakfast and lunch and I haven’t eaten anything that I haven’t enjoyed. It’s my «go to» lunch location when meeting friends midday or someone for breakfast/coffee(and breakfast is now served all day-YAY!) My Addiction: the breakfast burrito!!! Fried egg, black beans, avocado, pepper jack cheese, potatoes and chipotle sauce all nestles in a grilled whole wheat tortilla. The flavors and textures are amazing! Breakfast Faves: French Toast, Bacon & Cheese Omelets and their coffee Lunch Faves: The Canvas Salad, The Marchella Sandwich, The Pimento Cheese Sandwich(I know right??? but it really is good), French onion soup, Tomatoe Soup. I’m a big fan of the ½ and ½ where you can get a half portion of any either salad, soup or salad. They are served with crunchy potato chips. Bakery Faves: The Peanut Butter Cookie, Red Velvet Cupcake, Chocolate Cupcake w Chocolate Frosting(these also come in mini cupcakes) and any of their breads(Banana or Zucchini). i often order cupcakes for work and they’re always a hit! They offer fountain drinks, bottles sodas/water, coffee, tea, specialty beverages, tea and more. There’s always seating indoors and on the patio(umbrellas available). Parking can be a bit sparse, but there is overflow in the lot right next to the building. Customer service is always great and food is served in a timely fashion. To go orders are ready when they say it will be and there’s a separate check out line for easy pick up.

Canvas Café & Bakery is a popular sandwich shop located north of Marietta Square near WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta. This café and bakery is like Panera Bread except it’s locally owned and operated. I’d also say it’s a small step up from Panera and the like. The owners put a lot of thought, effort, and investment into this business and it shows. It’s really nice in here. I stopped in for lunch, where the lunch/dinner menu is extensive. Everything is high quality and«gourmet.» There are over a half-dozen salads, over a dozen sandwiches, and over a half-dozen burgers. There are soups and sides(e.g. fries, hummus, pimento cheese) too. I was told by one of the employees that the most popular sandwiches are the Marchella sandwich and the Southwest Turkey sandwich. You also have the option of ordering two half-sandwiches of any type for $ 9.27. That’s what I did. Everything on the menu ends in 7 cents. I’m not sure what the significance of that is, but it’s just like the restaurant Local Three, where everything on the menu ends in 3 cents. Expect to spend about $ 10 for a sandwich, burger, or full-sized salad here. The two half-sandwiches I ordered were: Arthur Reuben — corned beef, Swiss and sauerkraut, and Russian dressing on marbled rye Marchella — grilled chicken breast, balsamic onions, goat cheese, tomato chutney, and basil pesto mayo on rosemary focaccia These two half-sandwiches came with a bag of Zapp’s New Orleans kettle-style regular flavor chips. Both sandwiches were made fresh and were filling and delicious. The Reuben came on wide pieces of rye. I was about to say there was too much bread, but there was so much corned beef and sauerkraut, that I think this was just a big sandwich all-around. The Swiss cheese was melted into the sauerkraut and the corned beef was thick, slightly juicy, and hearty. The Marchella was pleasantly surprising and I can see why it’s one of this bakery’s most popular items. The balsamic onions and basil pesto mayo made this sandwich for me on the very first bite — both are quite flavorful. If you’re not a fan of goat cheese, don’t let the goat cheese of this sandwich steer you away. The goat cheese is mild and light and is more of a soft spread than a pungent hard cheese. The chicken breast was tender. Canvas has a casual yet still somewhat sophisticated/elegant atmosphere. Indoor table and plenty of outdoor seating is available. Order at the register and your food is brought to your table. Fountain drinks and tea are self-serve. They also sell bottled drinks like Cheerwine. Service is friendly. Since the sandwiches are made fresh-to-order, there is a small wait(~10+ minutes) for them. There are two parking lots for this place. If the main parking lot, adjacent to the building, is full, there are well-marked signs directing you to an overflow lot. Note for spicy food fanatics: Canvas has a «Hell Burger» on its menu which is followed by the words«Warning» and«Caution.» This burger has all sorts of peppers in it, including a sauce which uses the ghost pepper as one of its ingredients. It might be worth checking out if you like spicy foods.
