Played here a few weeks ago with some buddies, as I do every few months due to the convenience of the course. That was my last time playing here. The course decided to let an extremely intoxicated 5 some go out in front of us on a very busy day. What ensued was a painfully long front nine watching these guys hit 2 or 3 tee shots on each hole as well as having no regard for anyone around them. I called the clubhouse after about 7 holes to ask them to speed these guys up. After hole 9, we were instructed to play through. Long story short, these guys proceeded to pick fights with us on several holes, and we came very close to blows on #15. It was very obvious that these guys were told we complained by the staff at the course. After making the management aware of the situation and the miserable round they created, they said«we hope to see you again». They will not. On top of this incident, the greens are in poor shape and littered with crabgrass. You can play much better courses in the area for the same price.

My golfing buddies and I tend to play all over the place, wherever the rates can be reasonably booked. However, I and another friend would probably consider this our home course. It’s close to where we live, it’s reasonably priced(either via online bookings or Valpak coupons) and it’s well maintained for a public course. It is a short course but just the constant elevation changes make this one of the more difficult courses I’ve played. It can get crowded on the weekends though so be prepared for a 4.5 hour round. Practice facilities aren’t bad, the GPS units in the cart is a nice feature, and the staff in the pro shop is very friendly.

A short course, but it still has some challenging holes. Can be completed in under 4 hours if not busy. Very good for the average golfer.

Love this course! I go here all the time to play. The greens are the best I’ve seen and the course is pretty well taken care of. Staff is great too. The Asian lady at the club house concession stand is hilarious, and the food there is actually really good! Love to play golf here. Not to mention the carts have GPS on them. Very helpful.

Its a middle of the road golf course. I don’t have any complaints about this place at all. I have golfed there dozens of times over the years. Sometime the conditions are bad and sometimes they are good. It happens sometimes but so far the managment of the course, although having gone under change, still seems to be pretty good in my book and I used to work on a golf course for 7 years.

Years ago, the golf course at City Club Marietta used to belong to Marietta Country Club. Marietta Country Club has since moved and the City of Marietta now owns the course. The course is managed by Classic Golf Management and is a public daily fee course. It’s attached to the large Marietta Hotel & Conference Center(Hilton Atlanta). I played many times at City Club Marietta in the early-to-mid-2000s. It’s not my favorite course in the world because it’s short(only 5,800 yards from the back tees) and it’s compact. All the holes are laid out next to each other and often times, you’ll see balls in your fairway from groups playing other holes(and vice versa). The plus side to this is the rates at City Club are less expensive compared to other daily fee courses in the metro area, going only as high as $ 58 for a weekend morning round. There are a lot of coupons floating around for City Club, which can get you on the course for significantly less. It’s certainly a good value. I played at City Club this past Saturday and for a municipal course, it was in decent shape, particularly the greens. Compared to other munis in metro Atlanta, City Club has some of the best greens all-around condition-wise. I don’t recall seeing a single green with dry patches of grass or splotches of dirt. The greens were a little slow, though. The fairways, on the other hand, could have used a lot of improvement. Parts of some fairways were in bad shape, especially on the back nine. There were plenty of times our balls landed in the«fairway,» yet not on any grass. One thing that has set City Club apart from many other courses in metro Atlanta over the years is the use of GPS navigation systems in each golf cart. I can’t think of any other public course in Atlanta that uses these. The GPS is extremely helpful because it tells you how far away your ball is from the pin and various points on the hole(e.g. yards to: back of the green, front of the green, bunkers, water hazard, etc.). It also has a marking for each golf cart in the vicinity, so you know where everyone is. That way, if you’re playing a blind shot(of which there are several on this course), you’ll know when it’s safe to hit. All golf carts need GPS! The clubhouse and practice facilities(driving range, chipping/bunker area, and putting green) are so-so. You hit off grass(as opposed to mats) at the range. The staff and rangers seem nice enough. There’s a man who sits at the turn with a small grill and table where you can get freshly grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, snacks, and cold drinks. Be careful not to eat the grilled stuff too fast after buying them or you might burn your tongue. When parking at the course, don’t park at the hotel and conference center. Instead, drive to left of the hotel and conference center and into the back, where there is additional parking a lot closer to the clubhouse and golf course. Additionally, you can just follow signs to the bag drop.
