Did not live up to the glowing reviews. No smiling faces at the counter. Surprised that this was so expensive for food that tasted canned. Also, wonder what the health department would think of the inappropriate food temperatures — the meatloaf and onion rings were cold, the vegetables lukewarm. The chicken fried chicken was the only item that was hot but it was overcooked, almost burned and tough. The fried okra was pre-packaged with flour batter and no cornmeal in site and was also cold. Our lunch meal cost more than $ 25 for two people for simple meat and two with a drink each. There are too many great choices nearby to come here.

Very disappointing. We both ordered chicken fried chicken, which was either undercooked or something, as it was so tough we couldn’t cut it with a knife and fork. Owners happily replaced it with another entrée. The chicken in the chicken and dumplings also was very tough and chewy. The oil in the fryer hadn’t been changed in a while, so everything that was fried — onion rings, fried green tomatoes, chicken and catfish — tasted of the old oil. I love meat and three Southern cafes, but don’t think I’ll be back here.

Another place that I didn’t discover until recently, even though I’ve lived in the area for 10 years now. I have been MISSINGOUT! This place is really spectacular. I love divey, down-home places. I don’t give a rat’s butt about décor and atmosphere when I’m just looking for some homestyle food. this place reminds me of a little n’hood cafeteria I used to eat at growing up except the food is way better. I had the fried chicken, fried green tomatoes and sweet potato casserole here so far. The fried chicken is really out of this world. I’d put it second to Buckner’s down in middle GA, which is the best fried chicken in the world. The tomatoes were perfect and the sweet potatoes were solidly good. I can’t wait to get back here.

I ordered the gyro plate with chicken. The food was awful. The greek potatoes were oily and did not seem to be cooked well. My coworkers ordered other dishes and their fool was bad also. I will never ever eat at this restaurant again. I would give 0 stars if that were possible.

UPDATE: 10/12/2015 — I discovered that Come-N-Get-It not only serves Southern Food but that the family is Greek and have a great Greek menu as well. I thought I’d check it out. The Gyro Pita Wrap was delicious! The meat was spiced just right and the Tzatziki sauce was fresh and had great flavor. Now I know where to get my Greek AND Southern Fix. 9÷13÷2015 — Oh My Goodness — I found my new Southern Food spot ! The minute I saw them lighting up the smokers in the parking lot of this small family restaurant I knew I had to try the food. Before I went inside, curiosity got the best of me and I wandered over to the smokers to see what the young man, Ian, was doing. I was amazed when he put Meatloaf into the smoker. I had never heard of Smoked Meatloaf before. Right there and then the decision as to what to order was made. The Smoked Meatloaf was delicious and moist with just the right amount of smokey flavor. I got to pick my sides so with the owners help, I chose Squash Casserole, Collard Greens and Cornbread. Everything was yummy. I can truly say — I can’t wait to come back here.

Our favorite place for breakfast! Super friendly staff. The food is fantastic I’d recommend the Kitchen sink or the pancake breakfast. We haven’t been for lunch yet but hope to try more menu items soon. Wherever you’re coming from this place is worth the drive.

We randomly picked this place after car shopping, thought it looked like it might be a good meat and three type place. We happened to be there on a day they were smoking briskets so that’s what I ordered. Coupled it with mac and cheese and beans(nothing frozen or canned according to the staff). It was really excellent, a real whole brisket smoked 12 hours with your choice of cut. This is a great meat and three restaurant. If I found myself nearby around lunchtime, I would go out of my way to go here again. You should too.

I was starving after hiking Kennesaw mountain and decided to check this place out. The place has a homey, Southern feel. The dining room consists of four top tables with checkerboard tablecloths. It is cute. It is a quick service concept with you having to order and pick up your meal at the counter. Since it was slow, they hand delivered the food to me which was nice. I ordered the chicken fried chicken with mac and cheese and collard greens. The chicken was cooked perfectly. The menu boasts that it spiced according to their secret recipe, but the only spice I tasted was salt — lots and lots of salt. It overwhelmed the flavor of the chicken. The mac and cheese was OK; it was tasty but nothing out of the ordinary. The collard greens were bland to say the least. It didn’t taste like it was cooked with meat at all which was disappointing. It tasted like nothing was added to them at all. Lastly, the biscuit that came with the meal wasn’t soft or flaky. It was hard and dry, like they microwaved an old biscuit. There was very little flavor. The owner does come around and check on you which is nice. However, I think I will try other places next time I am in the area. I have to say that I was very disappointed in this place.

Meal had very little taste. Nothing was seasoned correctly. The white gravy was the best part of my country fried steak and veggies. The steak was mainly breading, very little meat. Mashed potatoes were ok, but the mac and cheese was the worst I’ve ever had anywhere. My wife and son’s meals were nasty too. The restaurant itself was very run down with random stuff everywhere. They are in desperate need of Robert Irvine and Restaurant Impossible. Won’t go back, don’t recommend.

I went there for breakfast on Sunday, ordered the $ 10 breakfast, I’m supposed to been everything out of everything I got one tiny piece of sausage. The eggs were normal size but all the other portions were very small, I’ve noticed that the lunch portions before are also very small. So I’ll pay them the additional money for my cuppa coffee and that’s really about it I have nothing really exciting to say about this place if you want unless if you want to spend money.

My husband surprised me by taking me here for lunch today. He knew I had been wanting to go forever, and we finally went! I really enjoyed the low key, hometown feel of the place and the friendly service too. My food was very good, had the fried chicken, spinach, creamed corn and mashed potatoes. Everything was good and the creamed corn was to die for! My husband loved his country fried steak and loved the Three Chocolate Pie! He sounded like a reviewer himself, describing the lightness of the mousse. lol Anyway, I really want to go back and try a different angle with the footlong hotdog and fries. I find this place A LOT better than Whistle Stop, and friendlier too.

I’ll call this a country cooking Greek Diner. Part meat and vegetables, part lunch counter and breakfast grill, part Greek home cooked specialties, with a smattering of Italian. You will surely find something you will like! Real food by real folks. It was our first visit and we found the staff very engaging and welcoming. We overdid it and sampled the Greek salad and dinner plates with Country Steak and the«Traditional» Meatloaf. Both were really well prepared and the vegetables delicious. The mashed potatoes I had with the meatloaf were«rustic» will little bits of potato, clearly not boxed. The salad was fresh made, with an interesting twist of being served on a little bed of tasty potato salad and generously topped with cheese. We had ordered the coconut cake and it was a huge slice that had to go home with us for later. It was jam up! I think me and my wife have things we want to try for about our next 4 visits. Cheeseburger and milkshake is on my mind and I think she is looking for some baklava. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Had another crazy week — long hours — very little sleep — my day got away from me — and I wasn’t going to have time to cook if I wanted to eat dinner before 8pm(something I’m trying to adhere to) so I decided to give this place another try. I called in and placed an order for take-out. When I called in — I said specifically, «I was there before — and the portions were pretty small — can I pay extra for additional meat?» The young lady was friendly up until this point — but after my statement and question — I got a very chilly, «No.» Oh well. I placed my order and ventured in any way — hoping the last time was a fluke. I’m glad I did because this time — I literally had 3 X the amount of chicken I was given previously — and my food was comp’d because of my last experience. And as I said in my previous review — the food was very tasty. This next part is wordy — so feel free to stop reading here! ************************************** So. .. here’s why they don’t get the elusive 5th star — and here’s why even though I’m a fan — I probably won’t be back. When I spoke to the cashier — she asked my name(I’m assuming for the purposes of delineating my order from all other call-in orders) but here’s where things get a little funky: Clearly the owner is huge ‘fan’ of Unilocal and he takes these reviews VERY personally. I think another reviewer even mentioned it.(I can’t even really be mad at him — because if I owned this type of business — having a ‘pleaser’ personality — I would probably be the same way.) But when I came in to pick up my order — the female cashier I’d spoken to on the phone was no where to be found. Instead — the owner was at the register — he introduced himself as said owner and said he was comp’ing my meal because of my dissatisfaction last time. I was 100% surprised and bowled over — impressed like never before. But then… dunh-dunh-DAAAH. When I said, «that’s really not necessary.» He insisted and I finally agreed and told him I appreciated it. BUT…he went on to say, «I hope you do — and update that Unilocal review — because those reviews really hurt us.» Then he went on to give me mini lecture about all of the religious community that supports his business but their reviews get filtered. And how his competitors post all sorts of negative reviews daily. And we discussed the«single review so your ad gets filtered,» Unilocal algorithms and all that jazz. I want to reiterate — he was polite during the entire exchange — introduced me to his son — shook my hand — thanked me for giving his place another try. I completely understood his position. And there’s a HUGE part of me that admires that fact that he is proud of his religion and incorporates the fact into his business model. But I also realize that to run a successful business — you have to realize 1) unless you’re a church(heck! even if you are a church), if you wear your religion on your sleeve — you open yourself to anti-religious ‘persecution’ and 2) you can’t please all of the people all of the time — and you can’t take each review as a personal attack. If you read my first review — you’ll note — I said the food was good — just scarce — and the people were friendly. This time — the cashier was sorta hostile when I commented that the portion was small the last time(and asked I could pay for a larger portion) and the owner felt compelled to lecture me when I arrived. It was a nice, calm lecture — but a lecture, nonetheless. And even though I got WAAAY more food — the fact that he acknowledged my Unilocal review — I couldn’t help but wonder if the larger portion was given simply because he knew I was a Unilocaler. I felt like the situation would have been better handled if he’d just charged me the normal price and given me the ‘normal’ portion of food — and not mentioned my previous Unilocal review. That way — if the larger portion was, in fact, the norm, then I would have viewed it as a totally organic, honest, second experience — and updated my review accordingly. In fact — since I told the cashier — my portion was dissatisfactory and asked to pay extra for more chicken — all he had to do is say he was comp’ing the meal because of my comment to the cashier and NOT mentioned the previous Unilocal review at all. Maybe — he didn’t trust me to update my previous review — which I’ve noticed a lot of people on Unilocal fail to do — so again — I sympathize with his position. Oh well — I still think the food is very tasty — and hope this business thrives.

After driving by this place several times, we decided to give it a try. So glad we did. We came for Sunday brunch and got breakfast foods. The biscuits were large and fluffy. I had the pancakes, eggs, and grits. My husband tried the French toast. It was all delicious! Tasted like something Grandma would make! I only gave 4 stars because my pancakes were a little more well done than I like. We will be back to try the fried chicken.

After passing this place several times driving around Marietta I finally decided to give it a try. This is defiantly a family owned joint. There was the kids(and friends of family maybe) running the food out and cooking while the Owner and Wife took orders. They have a small breakfast menu and a much larger lunch/dinner menu. The owners are really friendly and nice. You can tell they have a lot of regulars that come by especially after Church on Sundays. I think the owner knew we it was our first time being there, since he gave us free pie and $ 2 off the bill. Or maybe he just felt like being nice who knows. The food was simple Southern cooking. No frills nothing fancy which is what I expected and wanted. I got the friend chicken with mac and cheese and coleslaw. It was pretty good and filled me up. My boyfriend got a chicken biscuit and cheese grits. I liked the random plates they had for serving the food. It made it feel more homey. The owner went around a few times to make sure everyone was enjoying their food. The ice cream/shake machine broke while we were there but they fixed it in a timely manner. I would come back another time and try something else. Cute little place to grab a bite to eat and hang with some local business owners.

I’ll tell you right now why there are so many varying reviews on this place. If you come in and get the fried chicken and some sides, and a dessert, you’ll walk away with a 4 star rating or higher. If you don’t come here for the fried chicken, and you get something else(maybe to be healthy?) you’ll sit around looking at everyone eating the fried chicken and going mmmm yummmm mmmm while you are eating whatever it is you are eating(grilled chicken, hamburger, etc) with envy. Someone else hit the nail right on the head, if you are a small mom and pop restaurant don’t try to cater to everyone with a huge diverse menu. Do a few things you are good at and let that be. The people that work there are very friendly, the service is good, the owner gives back to the community and is a great part of it, so it’s very sad for me to land on a 3 star here, but they definitely can improve the operation and have room to get this to 5 star.

Will not be coming back… As a lover of Southern style food, I’ve been wanting to eat at this place for a very long time. While walking in there was a huge menu on the outside wall with a lot of types of food. This made me think of all the times that Gordon Ramsey has said that there is no way small restaurants can have a huge diverse menu and keep the quality consistant and still serve everything fresh. Inside, your order at a counter and then you pick your food up. This part I actually like because that means the drinks are self-serve and I hate to wait for servers to bring me re-fills. This type of service also means you generally pay a little bit less. I did notice that was both southern style food and Greek food on the menu. I then saw that the owner was Greek so that made sense. There was a display case with at least 20 desserts. Cakes, Pies, and Baklava all looked delicious. In fact they looked so good, that my wife and I decided to split a meal so we could save room for dessert. It was dinner time, but we still ordered breakfast, the«Southern Buttermilk Pancake Breakfast… Pancakes, Sausage, and Hash browns. The picture showed a biscuit on the plate and my 9 year old son just wanted a biscuit so this worked out fine. Our order was $ 14.00 which seems a bit pricey for self service food. Especially just one pancake meal, and a couple extra drinks. I later found out that we were charged extra for the biscuit. There menu showed a picture of a biscuit but the description of the meal didn’t list it. Hmmm. Our food was brought to us by the cashier because we were the only people there, and she was kind enough to bring us an extra plate, even though we didn’t ask. Very thoughtful. The first thing we noticed was that my son’s biscuit was hard, yet spongy. As if it was old and then microwaved. It was also a bit burned on the bottom. We asked for a new one, and they brought us out another rock hard old biscuit. My pancakes were not burned, yet had burned flakes on them as did the hash browns. This let me know that they were cooked on a dirty griddle. Because of the burned taste, I only had a few bites. The texture of the pancakes were also a little strange. Had these been cooked earlier and then microwaved? I didn’t even bother asking for something else. I was just too irritated. My wife also just ate a few bites and didn’t finish. The sausage patties were a bit tough, as if reheated or microwaved. The syrup that we were given was in plastic packs. I would have liked to have had a few options of syrup in bottles on the table. But this place seems to like easy and convenient instead of quality. All in all, not one thing on my plate was even average. I guess that’s a problem with ordering breakfast food at dinner time. You get microwaved leftovers. The owner was sitting at the counter on a laptop. Because were the only ones there we we were waiting for him, or anyone else, to come by and ask us how our meal was. No one did. If one person would have come by our table, they would have noticed that we weren’t eating our food. If someone had come by, fixed the problem, then maybe they would have saved us as a customer. But instead I feel like once they had my money they didn’t care anymore. We decided not to get dessert, because I didn’t want to give this place anymore of my money. Even though they looked delicious, I was wondering how old they were. After all, I couldn’t tell if this place did enough business to justify having 20 cakes and pies in a display case, and I couldn’t trust them at this point to be sure that everything was fresh. I went into the bathroom to wash my hands. There was a funky/musty smell and a an air freshener container sitting on the sink. There were four or five rolls of toilet paper sitting on the handicap handrail because there was no toilet paper holder. While I’m not a germaphobe(I’ll eat at the greasiest of spoons with a «D» rating if the food is good) I don’t like the idea of toilet paper falling off and rolling across a bathroom floor then getting put back up. The fact that this place won’t spend $ 5 on a toilet paper holder sends a signal. The toilet looked very clean, but there was a moldy area in the corner which I assume is where the funky smell came from. While the bathroom was not dirty, I wouldn’t call it clean either. I am soooo disappointed, because I had been wanting to visit this place for sometime. I love small non-chain restaurants. The ones I like I will go to again and again. I wish this would have been one of those places.
