I love Impulse. Have been going for a couple years now. They always do a great job and are careful not to stain me. Very professional. Lately have been going back to Erin — she’s awesome! But honestly all the stylists I’ve had there were top notch. I highly recommend.

As a long time customer I felt I needed to write about my experience. I have been going here for years to see Katie and I have always come out of the salon extremely happy. I’ll say it over and over again — Katie is an amazing colorist. She’s done all types of color on my hair(highlights, lowlights, base color), and I can’t count the number of times friends as well as random women have complimented me on my hair color. Katie is very professional and always does a great job. I went to at least 5 other salons that didn’t meet my expectations before finding Katie at Impulse, and I can’t recommend her highly enough! Also — what brought me here in the first place was a Groupon and I’ve been continually happy with my services so I’ve continued to come back.

I love this place I drive all the way from midtown to get my hair cut. It’s very relaxing and I love the employees they are all so polite. I see Ryan for my haircut but he is also a GREAT colorist

Meh. I went here on a Groupon a few weeks back. I got the top level which included cut, style and ombré or balayage. I discovered after base color was applied that the deal did not include base color, so that was another $ 60. i wasn’t thrilled because that was not made clear on either the Groupon or when I was initially consulting with the stylist. No huge deal, I chalked it up to a misunderstanding. I got an ombré treatment and while the color is done very well, it’s not nearly as «ombré» as I would expect. The cut leaves a lot to be desired. I have very thick hair which requires being thinned out, especially for an angled bob type style. Well, she cut it too close to the scalp so I have chunks that want to stick out and I have to work to tame them down so that it doesn’t look all wonky. Also, there are a couple of uneven pieces that I’ve had to trim off myself. I’m glad I didn’t pay full price for this but perhaps if I had, the job would have been better. While there, I heard the client and stylist next to me making snarky remarks about Groupon customers. So, who knows. Anyway, I won’t return to this place. While it’s not the worst hair cut and color job I’ve ever had, it’s by far not the best. I should have stuck with my normal stylist but the Groupon deal was there and it was closer to home. Next time, I’ll travel to my regular stylist, who is better and much more reasonable even without a Groupon.

Stylist was good but price is WAYTOOHIGH and not disclosed! At the register to pay, the fee was double what I was told. When I asked why, I was told everything was a la carte… EVEN A BLOWDRY. It’s a crock. You can go to many other good salons and pay ½. Insulted my intelligence. Won’t go back.

HORRIBLE! DONOTGOHERE!!! Strange experience, indeed. When you walk in, it’s a really cute and nicely decorated salon. The strange part? There’s a cut out window where the stylists can stare right at you while you wait to be called back. This has happened to me a few times, and I think it’s quite creepy. I tried smiling at one of the girls and she just gave me a mean look and walked away. Okay, so on to the haircut and color. LOVE my color! They are great at color. However, my haircut is so messed up that I now have to go to another salon to have it fixed. No, I don’t want to go back to Impulse to have it fixed after spending TONS of money, because obviously, as trendy as they are, they do not know how to cut hair. Even if you have a picture, they still DONOTKNOWHOWTOCUTHAIR. My cut should have been a slice of pie, but since my stylist(not saying her name because I don’t want to get her in trouble) was in a hurry because her other client was there, she hurried and chopped my hair all up. It’s not even in the back at all. People at work were laughing at me when I walked in the office. I am mortified!!! I will never go back. Dropping a couple hundred + on a haircut and color I should be more than happy, and I am very upset and disappointed. Thanks for nothing, Impulse.

Today was my second visit w April at Impulse. I actually got a haircut with her 3 days ago(my first visit here ever) and I loved her and my haircut so much, I booked some time w her today to get balayage added to my hair(she didn’t have time on Tuesday — which was fine, I booked my spot that morning). April is super knowledgable, very personable and sweet. The only negative thing I’ll say on my 1st visit to the salon/her on Tuesday was that my appt was at 4:30p and she didn’t come get me until almost 5. I get it, everyone is busy. Like I said, I still made my appt for today. My appt was at 10am today and she came and got me about 10:25. I was fine, I had my coffee! After some discussions together, I let her work her magic. I was finished around 1p. My hair looked AMAZING! While it was a little lighter overall than I expected, it still looked fabulous! I mentioned this to April and she said if I wasn’t completely happy and I would like to get some low lights added back to darken it, she would be happy to do so. That’s great service! I really think I will get used to it and not take her up on her offer. The opinions of my friends and family also say to keep it how it is as it looks wonderful! Now you’re probably wondering with all these great things I am saying, why did I only give it 4 stars?! Well the negative part came when it came time to pay. When I asked April how much the partial balayage would be on Tuesday, she quoted me $ 95. I just paid $ 55 for a haircut on Tues, I could handle $ 95. However, as she was writing up the ticket I saw her keep adding different columns of costs: $ 95, $ 30, $ 35…for a total of $ 160!!! Whaaat?! When I asked her what the other additional costs were for, she said for toner($ 30) and for the blowdry($ 35). This would have been nice to know in the beginning. While I agree I should have to pay for the toner(though $ 30 seems quite expensive for toner!) I do not agree that I should have to pay again for a blow dry. In my opinion, a blow dry/style should automatically come with the service when you get a cut and/or color. I haven’t been to a salon where that is an additional charge. By itself, of course, not with services you are paying for on top of everything else. I think with me being a brand-new client and having 2 appts within a couple days, the least that could’ve been done was the blow dry for«free» today… after spending $ 250 for these 2 appts!!! I had such a great experience and was very upset that it had to end that way. While I love my hair, I am not sure my wallet can handle $ 250 each time I need a refresh! And even if it is that expensive, I would like to be made aware of this upfront and not be surprised at the backend. I would highly recommend April. Just make sure you know exactly what you are paying for.

Update: The salon owner called me and wanted to know more about my experience. This kind of customer service, is rare and incredible. Thank you for reaching out to me. That kind of thoughtfulness makes all the difference in the world. Thank you Impulse. I had high hopes. This place fell far short of expectation. Thankfully I only used a groupon, for a bad hair cut instead of paying full price. Although, I can say that from walking in to walking out, I spent under 40 minutes there for a shampoo and cut. I have fairly long hair, I don’t expect to go to a salon and walk out in under an hour. I kept telling myself that at least I got my split ends taken care of. I kept telling myself that the hairdresser must have just been overly aggressive with giving my ends a curl under and that it would go away once I washed my hair myself. My hair looks slightly cleaner, but it wasn’t what I asked for. I asked for essentially a trim with a few long layers at the end, a a couple of shorter layers that framed my face. Much to my horror as I got home and spent some time looking at the aftermath, I realized that I had gotten a long version of «The Rachel.» Not flattering to my very round face. I didn’t get the long layers I asked for. The end of my hair looks like a blunt straight across the bottom cut.

After having seen a few 1 star ratings that were taking down their ratings, I decided I had to write a review. I was here on Saturday afternoon for the very first time as a walk-in. I was actually quite terrified since first, I had just been to the skincare place next door and asked for an eyebrow wax and they told me to come back on Tuesday because they were fully booked(how hard could it be to squeeze in a 10 minute wax?) and second because I got to Impulse I found out that the same person was doing my eyebrows and my hair. Usually, someone that is good with waxing is generally not good with hair(based on my own personal experience). So, I was concerned she would get one or the other horribly wrong. I was happy that they were kind enough to squeeze me in. They were terribly busy and they could’ve easily turned me away, but they find a spot for me 45 minutes after I got there(and yes, they told me I would have to wait that long) I couldn’t have been more wrong. Stephanie, who is rather new to the salon(has been there a year) did a BEAUTIFUL job with my brows. I have thick brows which are not easy to do without plucking too much but she did a terrific job. Then, the hair. Again, I didn’t have high expectations. But again, I was utterly surprised. Stephanie styled my hair beautifully without the need to use a flat iron. She is about the only stylist I’ve ever been too that hasn’t had the need to use a flat iron… and my dry hair thanks her for it! The most astonishing thing was the price. Eyebrows and hair was 60 with tip. Couldn’t be happier after looking for the right place for me all over Atlanta for more than a year and surprisingly finding something so close to home.

I am new to Marietta having come from Los Angeles. I booked an appointment with Staci for color and cut, after seeing the job she did on a friend’s hair. I am beyond impressed and have to say that this is one of the best color jobs and cuts for me ever! I’ve had many top stylist in Los Angeles do my hair and the job done today was better than any of them. Thank you Staci!!!

BEWARE –Overcharged — with no reply when asked. I also purchased a voucher to use at Impulse Salon — The first time I went there they did put me with one of their ‘less-senior’ stylists. I thought that she did a very good job with my trim/cut and full highlights. I scheduled the next appointment that day, to get 10% off my next visit. I asked my stylist what the cost would be for partial highlights(and trim) the next time. She mentioned the 10% off and said that she doesn’t charge as much as the ‘senior’ stylists. I believe she said $ 55(which apparently did not incude the cut). When I went back for my next appointment, she was running late, due to her client before me coming in late. This caused me, her and the cashier receptionist to be the last ones in the salon. We were all in a hurry to get out because the place was really closed. The cashier told me I owed $ 120 and that the cut/trim portion was $ 30. The website states a partial foil ranges from $ 70+ so I’m assuming my cost(with a less experienced stylist) should have been $ 70, plus $ 30, if the cut probably wasn’t included. I paid with a tip, then proceeded home. Later, I realized that I was probably overcharged because their posted value of partial highlights with cut shows to be a value up to $ 125. I did not use a senior stylist and was supposed to have a 10% discount. I emailed twice asking for a break-down of the bill, since the receipt for my credit card only shows the total plus tip. They did not reply to either request.

I got the keratin treatment done with Staci. Online it said it would be $ 150 per hour. It took an hour including the haircut and wash. She charged me $ 300! When I called they said she charges a flat rate, but I was NEVER told that prior to the appt. When I told them this they didn’t offer to refund me or sound apologetic at all. It is absolutely false advertising and ridiculous to charge $ 300 for a treatment when it only took one hour. I would never have booked the appointment. I will never go back.

Erin did my hair today and she did an amazing job. She was also very sweet. I totally recommend her! When i met with Erin today I had a heavy, heavy highlight. It was at the point where it looked like a color job on top and the under section of my hair was too dark. It didn’t look natural, the way a highlight should. Erin gave me balayage highlights and lo lights — it was just what the doctor ordered! it was my first time with balayage but it’s def what I’ll be asking for again. Erin took her time and was very nice, she didn’t rush or do anything sloppy. I’ve been getting my hair done for ten years and she really impressed me. She softened the color underneath so I can wear my hair tied back again(yay!) and she gave me very soft natural lo lights that will help me grow my hair out from the far too heavy foil highlight that was done about a month before.(Please note: Erin and her salon did not do the foil highlight I was unhappy with.) She managed to keep me blond while taking into account that I am looking for lower maintenance hair that I don’t have to highlight as frequently. She got rid of the severity of the over processed blond. Erin did a fantastic job adding dimension to my hair. If only she were in the NY area! Thank you Erin!

Dawn is great for highlights!!! The staff is professional and like I said there is no one better to go to than dawn for highlights. Been going here for over 10 years and have been every shade of blonde under the sun. I always get compliments. She never does just one tone – there are always so many layers of color that if I keep it subtle people always think its my natural color. HA! Thanks Dawn. She is hard to get into so book in advance. I also see April(Dawns former assistant) to get my hair cut because of how busy Dawn is and she does a great job. I have long hair with long layers and she keeps it healthy and easy to style and takes a lot of time making sure it is what I want. Easy to get to off of Johnson’s Ferry near Paper Mill.

I came to this salon after my hair designer/stylist Zahra transfered her services to this location. I have enjoyed cuts and color from Zahra for years and she always does a good job! The experience inside the salon is fun, whimsical, relaxed, and friendly! Everyone loves to talk together while getting a cut ‘n color! Even though Zahra was booked with cutting hair for a wedding party, she still managed to fit me in and do a great job! I love the casual feel to the place yet the professional service is outstanding!

I have been getting my hair done at Impulse salon for about 4 years now, and I am surprised to see no reviews of their work on Unilocal! Lindsey is my stylist, and bar none, she is the BEST colorist in the place! Everytime we do my color I like it more. I have no real vision when it comes to hair, I just know what I like, and Lindsey is able to create it for me everytime. I never want the same thing, so she has to be creative with me… She is excellent and I highly recommend her service. It is difficult at times to get the appointment you want, so plan ahead. All of the stylists at Impulse are exceptional… I’ve also been to Brandye, Zahra, Caroline and Shawn for shampoo and styling. Each of them brought something different to the table, but each of them left me feeling gorgeous as well! It is worth the wait to get an appointment with a stylist at this salon. Appointments are hard to come by because they are all so good. Do yourself an favor and come in for a new look you’ll love!
