Avoid Lens Crafters. They play flim-flam games with prices on glasses, and this is true whether you have insurance or not. Also, follow up service is very poor, when you have to return for adjustments or problems. First off, frames are grossly overpriced, with the exception of a very few cheap frames they have set aside out of sight. The overpriced frames are targeted at people with vision plans, since their plans normally allow approximately $ 150 for frames. By selling outrageously overpriced frames, Lens Crafters will collect money from both you and your vision plan. If you do not have a vision plan(insurance), they may reduce the frame price by a few dollars, in order to get your business, but they will make that loss up later with their hidden charges. As far as lenses go, they will up sell you to the most expensive lenses they have, then lower it a little, if you refuse to spend that much money. Next, comes what I call the Lens Crafters shopping list, which is when they take you to the cleaners with all sorts of additional and hidden charges for scratch resistant lenses, high-index lenses, coating, tinting, progressive lenses, transition lenses, Crizal lenses, eye wear insurance protection, edge polishing, etc. The list goes on and on and can be confusing. Of course, the sales clerk will tell you that you must have all these extras, in order to see well. The sales people at Lens Crafters are under tremendous pressure to up sell you as many unnecessary extra junk upgrades as they can. I knew one person who went to Lens Crafters with a vision plan and did not budge on exactly what his plan paid for and no more. He insisted on getting only what his plan paid for. They got really upset with him and told him he was sacrificing the health of his eyes, which was a lie. Translated, what they were so angry about was the fact they were making hardly any money selling him glasses. An important warning about Lens Crafters. The sales person will hurry through the summary of your charges, then ask you to pay. They generally don’t allow you to even see how they calculated the final charge. They are trained that way. What you need to do is to tell them you want a paper print out of the summary of itemized charges, line by line, which shows in detail each charge. Then, take your time reviewing each item and questioning anything you do not understand. Lens Crafters is infamous for adding extra charges that you never authorized. Better yet, I would advise anyone to never go to Lens Crafters. I simply do not trust them, and I believe they are a dishonest business.

Dr. Patel was very condescending pretty much my entire exam. The eye assistants(which did most of the work) were helpful and pleasant. I won’t be back if I have to have her do my exam.

This review would be kind of low. I thought 1 star, but one of the floor associates, Carla, saved the review. She is why I gave a 3. She was the most helpful there, and she is one of the few to actually know what she was talking about. She is a commodity for them and they need to make sure to keep her. I like dr. Travis. She is super nice. All I can say is ask for Carla when you go to make sure things are done right.

CHECK all the fees before you pay! I recently went in for an eye exam for glasses. Before going in I made an appointment online, which was very easy and convenient. The very next day I was seen by Dr.Patel. She was very professional and answered all questions that I had. Because I was a self paying patient, my exam without the extras was $ 65. After I had gotten my prescription I went on selecting my frame of choice. The ladies there were very helpful. I knew I would be out of pocket more for the lens, but upon check out the lady did not provide me the breakdown of how my bill until I had paid and received my receipt. So, surprisingly I ended paying about $ 350 for a complete pair of glasses since I went with designer frames($ 180) WITH what they said 40% off already deducted with their 1yr protection plan($ 34.99, in which I was not asked about but I guess it’s worth it since it covers any broken or repairs within a year). That would have been a total of $ 785 if not for their«40% off deal». The lens itself was ridiculously $ 330! I was given an hour to come back or wait to pick up my new glasses, so I decided to come back. Glasses was finished on time. Anyhow, it’s a ill bit more expensive then the discounted places(America’s Best, DoctorsVisions), but other then going back to get my glasses re-adjusted since it was bent unevenly, I would highly recommend this store.
