Our(3 people) first farm experience and it’s wonderful. Very very nice people, super cute apartments totally farm style. We stayed in the chicken coop. My 4-year old daughter 1000000% loves it. Very very good for children! Fresh(free) eggs in the morning. Feeding animals, swimming with gold fish in the pond,…

Disclaimer: I have never been to another farm bed and breakfast, this is my only real farm experience. I have stayed in plenty of bed and breakfast places, never one this small and intimate. BUT I never had to look for another place because I absolutely love Olde Fogie! It is a little bit out of the way, about 30 — 40 min drive away from Lancaster/Intercourse/Blueball.. . There’s really nothing to note in the town of Marietta at all in fact. Biz and Tom have been in the B&B business for over 25 years and they are still so so humble. Their house/farm has only a handful of rooms, most with just one queen bed and plenty of knick knacks. The chicken coop room is probably the biggest with it’s own kitchen and a separate twin bed in the kitchen/dining/living room area. When you call for a reservation, Biz will ask that you send in about half of the room cost to her by mail. She will call you when she received it for confirmation. And you pay the other half when you get there, checks or cash only. This place does not have a credit card machine. They really do open their house to you because they offer their own kitchen to you, whatever you may need or want in the middle of the night. Farm chores start at 8 in the morning, totally optional in case you want to sleep in. It varies depending on the season but usually you start by feeding the pigs, horse and cows. Milk the goat and give the fresh milk to the barn kitties. Bottle feed one of the calfs. Collect eggs in the chicken coop(actual chicken coop, not the room). And then a parade of pettings depending on what animals are available, rabbits, baby goats, etc. While you are doing farm chores, Biz whips up an amazing breakfast. She serves the fresh eggs scrambled with perfectly crisp-to-burnt bacon, orange juice, blueberry and walnut pancakes(you can request plain pancakes ahead of time as well for those with nut allergies) and a fruit salad. Coffee is available too for those who are slaves to that. Breakfast is absolutely delicious, the pancakes are perfectly fluffy. I don’t normally like breakfast foods but I always have at least two servings of Biz’s pancakes! All in all a good relaxing experience with the nicest, most hospitable people you can find. I have been back to Olde Fogie twice, my mom is planning on visiting twice and I can’t wait to bring my boyfriend. It truly is a home away from home(although I never grew up on a farm).
