I am not a vegetarian. But when this tiger decides its time to chow on some grass, it HAS to be Shivam Chat. Its in an ol’ beat up complex and the place is rather run down. If there are 3 customers they get overwhelmed since its run by a husband/wife team. Its certainly not the place you want to take someone for a first date. Now for the most important part. Screw the ambiance and everything else… when it comes to food, the taste is divine. I have catered food from here for large(100 people) events and eat there with family 3 times a week. Everything there is tasty. The Thali is delicious and the chat is out of the world. The samosa is the best. Do yourself a favor. Just put your blinders on and go eat from this place.(The blinders are to keep you from observing the general ambiance and service). Its worth it. I love this joint. Although they appear to be indifferent, both the owners, Rajendra and Seema are lovely folks, as I have come to know them after so many visits there.

The best authentic indian chaat and food so far in marietta… Their samosas are very delicious… And cutlets are very very yummy… The host gave us a very warm welcome… Their parathas reminds me of home made parathas back in india Simply loved their food and will come back here again and again and again!!!

I’ll call it a subtle wrapped surprise! :) This is one very quite little place in quite a remote neighbourhood. We generally go there on weekends to visit a nearby groceries store. This one time we were hungry and this was right next door, so we decided to enter. The interiors do not say much about what your in store for if you order, nor are they very exciting and earnestly beckon you to come in. Its just there… But i must say, that the food was really really good. It was flavourful, tangy and spicy, good portion size and operated by a very hospitable owner/order taker. We had the Pav bhaji and Dahi Vada. The Dahi Vada came first and true to its nature, it tripled our appetite. Beautifully whipped cold yogurt mixed with tamarind & mint chutney and just the right spices. The vada was super soft and completely melts in your mouth along with a spoonful of yogurt(Dahi). Pav Bhaji in comparison was hot, no excess butter, crispy onion salad and a spicy aloo bhaji. The experience was awesome. I would go there again and again.

Love the little hidden gems like this spot. Never had Chaat before. Was good. Like a layered bowl, chick peas, onions, tomatoes cilantro, crunchy noodles and yoghurt with samosa. Healthy and filling. I felt a world away in this place. Which means authentic, not fancy, including the service and apparent disinterest of the staff of my presence. But that is part of the charm.

Can I just say how disappointed I was with this place. I mean the place has 4 stars on Unilocal ! When we walked in, the place looked run down and smelled of fried oil — there was clearly no proper ventilation in this place. I was afraid to touch anything in the place because it seemed dirty and sticky. We did order the allo tiiki chaat — and frankly I wish I hadn’t — there was only 1 tikki and loads of chana. Not worth sitting in the place and inhaling the oil laden air for 15 minutes. Please save yourself the time and avoid this place.

I was pretty satisfied with my meal overall. Very humble place, but very fresh food – homemade-tasting. The daal was garlicky, but fresh and flavorful. Loved the bhoondi raita. Subji was average-good; hits the spot during the workday, I guess. I didn’t try the chaat – got the thali– I’m sure it’s decent if similar to the thali. Only complaint is that my rotis had a lot of ghee on them, which I guess you can ask to avoid in the future. I will be back! Also sampled the masala chai, which wasn’t bad but a lil too sweet.

Walked in before buying some grocery next door! Will never walk in again. Their food was stale, right from the freezer heated and served(I saw that) The pav bhaji was horrible and so was the aloo tikki chat. The place looked like a beaten down place and now am not so sure about the hygiene in the kitchen. Pls avoid.

UPDATE: Recently renovated this Spring. I have now been here 6 times. My favorite is still the Samosa Chaat. Its price changed a little, $ 4.49 but hey you got to pay for the new walls! Still a filling meal for under $ 5! This place is awesome! I stopped in a Saturday evening to get a quick bite. I asked what was good on the menu and she suggested I try the Samosa Chaat. I was in heaven at first bite. Chickpeas and little fried dough rolls covered in a sauce which was then covered in tomatoes, cilantro, onions and topped with a couple of spoonfuls of raita? Oh yeah and it had like a handful of crunchy dried noodle things on top, kinda like fried onions without the fried or onion. It was sooooo good and somewhat spicy but not overdone. Lots of flavor I just keep eating and eating, I had hold to myself back and just enjoy all the flavors instead of inhaling it which is what I wanted to do. Its been 3 hours and I am still full. By the way my photo has probably 3 or 4 bites taken out of it before I restrained myself and took a photo. UPDATE: I went back again the next week and had the ALOOTIKKICHAAT, similiar dish chickkpeas, but different flavors. Instead of samosas buried, it had 2 little fried potato pancakes and had a green sauce dripped on it. This was more spicy than sweet. Again I inhaled it… LOVETHISPLACE!!! A generous plate full for only $ 3.99. They are open Tuesday through Sunday 11:30am-8:30pm. The atmosphere is simple lots of little tables in the front, a counter to order in the back. A display fridge with water, sodas(.69) and some foreign fruit juices. In the back I could see the same lady who helped me pick out my meal frying up some flat bread(chapati? naan?) Very reasonable, I can’t wait to go back. I can’t believe this place hasn’t been discovered maybe because its still new? I think it has been open for less than a year and the Eastgate Shopping Center is a really slow and old plaza. I have been shopping at the Shivam Grocery store 5 doors down in the same plaza for several years now and their store has great prices on many basics like cilantro, limes, ginger, fresh vegetables or spices. I will upload the rest of the menu later but in the meanwhile I will write SOME of things from the to go menu he gave me. PS I don’t know what half this stuff is but I plan to try it!
