I ordered a cake for my parents 25th anniversary which was supposed to be a really big event! We had people come from all over the country and world. I paid ~$ 240 for the cake and had it custom designed because I wanted it to be special. So then let me explain to you how everything went wrong. 1) I had ZERO correspondence with them after I paid for the cake 2 months in advance. They never updated me to be like«Hey your cake will be ready this time, come pick it up» or «thank you for your payment. Literally heard nothing for 2 months and had to call them myself to make sure the order was in and that the cake would indeed be made. 2) I go to pick up the cake, which was supposed to have falling pearls on it. They used sugar pearls on all areas of the cake that was flat and then icing pearls on the sides of the cake, which looked horribly inconsistent. 3) It was a cold day in January so I honestly don’t believe their bullcrap about it being«warm outside» but the cake pearls were melting off the cake when I picked it up! And the cake was DAMAGED! The fondant had melted into the cake and looked ugly. Plus the layers were separating and the bottom tier had cracked. THEWORSTPARTIS, THEOWNERCALLEDMEANDTOLDME «I hope the lighting in your venue is bad enough so people won’t notice» EXCUSEME?!! DOYOURJOBFIRSTANDMAKE A PRESENTABLECAKE. 4) The cake was given to me in an open box because they didn’t have a box big enough for it. So much for being the«best bakery» in town and you don’t have a box to carry cakes over one tier high?! Yeah ok. 5) Finally, I at least expected the taste to be good. I ordered a black forest cake and was given a chocolate cake with cherry filling that tasted like it was baked the week before! Imagine my embarrassment having to present that cake to my parents for their 25th anniversary. They claimed they would give me a refund and gift certificate and then proceeded to take 2 weeks to deliver it by email. Moreover, they sent the wrong amount too. Really don’t know who the manager is because everytime I call nobody except a high school girl who works the counter is around. But this place just has a horrible business attitude. Such a big waste of my money to people who don’t give a shit about making an event memorable. PLEASESTAYAWAY!

Wish I should have listened to the bad reviews!!! The cake that i ordered was a big disappointment too! The cake decoration was not bad though, but not beautiful and most of all It tasted awful. Most of our guest did not like it. For those who wants to place an order from them please think twice! Its not worth the price $$.

I searched far and wide for the perfect groom’s cake to surprise Mr. Yellowjacket, and came across a Tech Tower shaped cake on the Sugar Benders website. The price was surprisingly reasonable, so I ordered one. They did a fantastic job! My groom and guests were so impressed. Please go look at the photo — words don’t adequately describe it.

Undortunately, the custom baby shower cake I ordered from them was a big disappointment. I paid $ 70 for delivery to ensure it would arrive safely — and got a lopsided cake! I notified them immediately that I was unhappy with the condition it arrived in, both by telling the delivery driver and emailing the owner pictures from the venue. I asked for minimally the delivery charge to be refunded since they blamed the damage on the delivery(which they provided!). For reference, the damaged cake cost 200 plus $ 70 for delivery. They actually accused me of causing the damage, even though I pointed it out immediately, and only offered me $ 30 back! I told them I expected at least the $ 70 delivery refunded, and they refused. They stopped responding to my emails and never actually refunded the $ 30. So, in summary, awful treatment by them, damaged cake, would never recommend.

I went in a couple of weekends ago, only to be told by the staff member with a very bored affectation that I couldn’t possibly have any food because the chef had gone on a delivery. I could come back in an hour or two. Since I only wanted a sandwich, I’m fairly certain that a chef was not required. I’m not actually sure what the function of the staff member was, other than to tell people that they couldn’t be assisted. Fail.

This was the absolute WORST customer service in life! My partner ordered a cake for my birthday via email because we were coming all the way from Texas for my birthday party. The cake was suppose to be the shape of lips(replica of my brand logo) with my brand name«purplekiss by Chanel» across the top. She made my cake a WHITE round cake with 2LAVENDER sheets of fondant on top with HAPPYBIRTHDAYCHANEL with a BLACKSHARPIE!!! She agreed to fix it and said I could pick it up the next day. I agreed even though that was the day AFTER my party. They said someone would call me by 2pm so I could pick it up, so when no one called, I called them. She told me she hadnt remade my cake and wasnt planning to because she was about to leave. Then told me she wouldnt be able to speak with me any further about it until Tuesday morning. I explained to her I live in Texas and I leave monday. She said its not her problem. She then put her FRIEND on the phone who didnt even work there who said«im an architect and I think she did pretty good, you’re making her really upset so bottom line, youre not getting your money back!» Then hung up in my face. This cake, that I never recieved was $ 160 and Im back home in Texas. This business should be shut DOWN!!! She doesnt even deserve the one star I was REQUIRED to give to post this.

Excellent! Creative takes on breakfast, lunch and baked goods. Very creative cakes. Awesome neighborhood spot for a quick breakfast or casual lunch. Definitely worth making a part of your regular rotation!

I ordered a cake here for my 5 year olds birthday specifically because they claimed they could do any character cakes as long as they had pics. I supplied pics. I paid an extra 45 bucks for delivery to my party location. To my horror when I opened the cake at the party, the cake was badly damaged from the flimsy box it was delivered in. I called to complain and they did nothing, they didn’t even refund me for delivery. Even if the cake hadn’t been damaged, it was hideously amateur looking in its décor. Even my sons name was not piped on but written with some type of marker in a sloppy manner. Not at all what I had expected for $ 200 cake. Also taste was horrible. I called back several more times to speak with with owner but she never answered or called me back. I would have been better off with a cake from SAMs club and sticking some figurines on it. Do not wasted your time with this place considering the bad customer service and subpar product.

Have tried this bakery 3 times now. Each time I’ve been shocked by the attitude of the staff and presumably the owner. Clearly, my business isn’t important to them and for that I will go back to the bakery I never had an issue with even if it’s further away. Not to mention the last cake we got was so sweet we threw most of it away and when we tried to pick it up at the agreed upon time, it wasn’t ready and we had to return hours later. Today, in one last attempt to like this place, I went into the shop on Saturday afternoon to order a cake for an upcoming event and was told that there was noone working who could take my cake order. Instead, I was instructed to send them an email with the details of my request and someone would call me the next morning(Sunday???). What bakery can’t take cake orders during business hours? Says it all…

Everyone has been on both sides of customer service, so to me, the customer service was the biggest disappointment. To summarize: the part of the cake about which I was the most excited was where it got completely botched. I’d ordered a cake in the shape of a ship in an effort to work in our company’s logo. I sent them an image of the logo for color and design purposes. They got the colors right, but instead of triangles(the shape in our logo), they just stuck rectangular pieces of paper on sticks as the sails of the ship. Also, the sails were supposed to be in fondant, not paper… I can’t imagine making a cool-looking cake and then throwing paper on top of it for the big finish(??). Anyway, cake disappointment aside, the customer service was the real one-star problem. I walked in and asked if the woman at the counter was Veronica(the person who I’d been working with via email). The woman just looked at me and said«no.» Didn’t offer to get Veronica, just waited for me to say something. Veronica comes out with my cake and sees the look on my face — obviously disappointed with what I saw. I explained why I was disappointed and instead of offering a solution, she just said something along the lines of, «well, your email didn’t specify.» Call me crazy, but I feel like if there is ANY question about what the customer is wanting, you ask. You don’t just make the cake and hope it’s right. I was so upset and frustrated with their non-willingness to attempt to fix the situation that I walked out and sat in my car. I cooled off for a minute, went back in and asked if they could at least take some paper and cut the shape of sails correctly. The response, «Our printer is off-site.» Keep in mind that this was not a special print job — it was a colored piece of paper cut into rectangles. I got back to my office and saw an email from them, in which there was the sentence, «However, we followed the picture in terms of general shape and design and the specifications of the email on the color.» I replied and noted that a rectangle is not the general shape and/or design as a triangle. Anyway, sorry for the long post but it really is beyond me the lack of effort to fix a situation. Considering we were only a few hours away from the party, there probably wasn’t much they could have done, but it’s crazy to me how someone can expect to have return customers if providing good customer service is not at all a priority. Thankfully there are plenty of other bakeries around!

Sugar Benders made my 40th birthday cake and the cake was beautiful, but it was not fit to eat! No one ate their cake at my surprise party. We collected the slices from everyone and returned the uneaten cake! The cake requested was lemon and we received a vanilla cake with a lemon simple syrup poured over a previously frozen cake. When my sister took the cake back she was told that the owner needed to see the cake. She was offered a refund after she called back two days later and there was no offer to remake the cake. The owner did admit that the cake was vanilla and that the texture was off. I recommend McIntyre’s if you must buy from a bakery. I normally do my own baking, but they were trying to surprise me.

My fiancé ordered a cake from here for my surprise birthday/engagement dinner. He ordered a pillow cake, which was very pretty. The taste, however, was awful. We had several people in attendance at the dinner and everyone agreed that the cake did not taste fresh. The cake tasted like it had been frozen some days prior to our dinner party and then thawed out. It was supposed to be vanilla flavor with real strawberries mixed in but it just tasted blah. The icing on the cake was super thick. For appearance, the cake gets 4 stars, but taste was definitely a 0. We had cake left over and decided to leave it at the restaurant. No one wanted to take any home. Flavor is definitely important and it was clearly lacking and was not fresh. Overall, I’d give the cake 1 star.

Wow! I’m beyond shocked by the service I received, or shall I say didn’t receive. I stopped in at 5:30 pm on my way home from work to pick up desserts for my birthday. I saw on scoutmob they had a free deal and were listed as open until 8pm. I walk in to see no one at the counter but I could hear people in the back. A women hears the door and comes out from the back pretty disheveled and says«hey!» I reply«hello» as I look at the dessert case. She then says«we’re closed. We close at 5.» I say«oh! Okay.» And walk out. Why wasn’t the door locked? There were desserts in the case… you didn’t wanna sell those? Do you hope I’ll come back again??? Very very rude and I will NOT be back again!

We’ve been trying to go to this place for a few months now. Unfortunately every time we remember to head to this place it would be closed. Finally made it to this place but unfortunately they were out of the key lime pie(I think) they are so famous for. Tried a few of their treats which in my opinion were ok however my wife enjoyed it. We will have to come back for the key lime pie to give a more proper review. They do have some stuff for those who are allergic to gluten.

I ordered a custom cake from this bakery for my promotion ceremony and was extremely pleased with the product. I called and they were able to fulfill my request with only one weeks notice! I emailed them a picture that I pulled from the internet and was impressed with the results. My coworkers were so amazed and I’ve had to provide the contact info for this bakery to a couple folks for events they were planning. I was not expecting the cake to taste good, it was delicious! Awesome customer service and outstanding creations.

This review is on sugar benders bakery I am very dissatisfied on the cake I received. I ordered a Jordan shoe box cake(white chocolate with strawberry filling) when I picked up the cake it looked nothing like the the cake pic I sent in and it didn’t have the strawberry filling. The plus side was that it tasted OK. The cake I picked up looked like it was a jewelry box not a shoe box the color was brown not black like the pic I sent. When I spoke the cake decorator/owner on the phone(she was not there when I came to pick it up the cashier called her) she said that since she was not the original cake creator of the pic that it wouldn’t look like it(I understand that BUTITDIDNTLOOKCLOSETOITATALL) but she could’ve said that on the phone or email when I placed the order that she was unable to create that cake instead of trying to get $ 143 out of someone maybe I could’ve came up with another design or so something. She also stated that some cakes are photoshopped to make them look the way they look the cake that I sent was a real picture I’m sure of it. She said the reason the cake color is DARKBROWN is because that’s how it looked on the picture from her computer monitor I really do not see how it looks different on hers and it is clearly black on my computer, iPad and phone. Veronica also stated that I have to take the cake or leave it as well as lose my $ 71.55 deposit she never once tried to make me feel a little satisfied at that point she was very rude in her words and it’s very sad because she is the OWNER. I will say and confirm that she did give me a $ 30 discount on what I owed which was $ 71.55 but they way that she spoke that wasn’t enough. I WILLNEVERRECOMMENDORGIVE A PENNYTOTHISBAKERYEVERAGAIN. Veronica PLEASE stick to the simple stuff so that you don’t have any more complaints or angry customers but I’m sure you don’t care.

I’ve had better and I’ve had worst. Sugar Benders is kind of the middle of the road for me. The display is really nice, The cakes, cup cakes and other desserts are beautiful, but let’s face it. when it comes down to it, Taste and Flavor wins. I tried the mini cheese cake and although it was pretty it was really blah taste-wise. It was so blah that it almost did not taste like cheesecake. It did not even taste like cream cheese. The toffee bar was much better than the cheesecake but super sugary and very thick. It tasted almost like shorting was used instead of butter. It wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t great either. I probably wouldn’t order it again but if someone gave it to me, I would take a bite. My friend ordered 24 cupcakes which cost about $ 60 and for the price they were OK. At $ 2.50 per cupcake they were a little small but I guess we would not expect really big light and fluffy cupcakes. They were really pretty but kinda think and lacking something. The win for Sugar Benders and the reason that it went from a 2-star to 3-star in my book was the chicken salad on the croissant. The chicken salad was pretty tasty and I enjoyed it. I was not too dry or runny and the strawberries made for an extra touch.

My new go-to place for custom cakes — not only gorgeous looking cakes but most importantly, great tasting too. I first fell in love when I had their cake(«raspberry» and«mixed berry jams») at my friend’s daughter’s first birthday party — she said she got the cake from«Sugar Benders Bakery» and they became top-of-mind when I needed a custom cake for my friend’s baby shower. It was my first time getting a custom cake from a local bakery(vs. Publix or Sam’s Club) and I knew the cakes would be pricier(this is coming from someone who thinks the $ 25 cakes from Korean bakeries are expensive). My requirements — strawberry cake(my friend’s favorite), feed 12 – 15 people, blue icing, custom message. I nixed fondant when I found out they start at $ 90. I got buttercream instead and I thought it looked great b/c they did a great job making it all smooth. I ended up selecting a design by googling«baby shower cakes» and found a blue cake w/fondant polka dots that I really liked. They said they could do it for $ 45 plus $ 15 for the fondant polka dots. For the cake, they use fresh strawberries — when we were cutting the cake I was expecting to see fresh strawberries but it’s actually ground up in the cake so that the strawberries are subtle but clearly there. OMG that was probably one of the best cakes I’d ever had and having everyone(and most importantly the guest of honor) rave about it made everything worth it. The four-layer 9″ cake easily fed our party of 12 — and we had half a cake left for my friend to share w/her family. If you want certain themed cakes, they can make custom 3D edible designs too(e.g., Pooh-looking bear) — however if you want to save $, you can buy the plastic characters and they will work them into the cake design. Definitely book early. You’ll need to put down 50% deposit when you order your cake. One tip they shared — when driving, safest place for your cake is the floorboard on the passenger side. By the way, you should also check out the desserts in the display case — thanks to Scoutmob I tried their Crème de Menthe Brownie … not your ordinary brownie at all! Yum! FYI — they’re located in Paper Mill Village.

This was needed. A bakery in east Cobb that has more than cupcakes(not that I don’t LOVE cupcakes). Good value and you can tell everything is fresh and made when you order it. I enjoyed the breakfast croissant and toffee delight. The toffee delight doesn’t look huge but it was so rich and dense that it could easily be shared. Everyone is way nice. I will be stopping here for a sweet fix after Moxie Burger or after getting my hair done next door. They also have lunch and brunch. Will have to try that. They can do wedding and special occasion cakes, too. A nice display of them are in the front window. Owners were super nice and knowledgeable. Nice to have a locally owned company to go to!
