This is a pretty cool little place on Main Street in Marion. It is a stand alone with some outdoor seating, but it seems most people just grab to go or eat in their cars. They have a couple of different options: BBQ, Hot Dogs, Burgers, and other typical BBQ joint dishes. I went with the BBQ Plate, so that is what most of this review will pertain to. The BBQ Plate was around $ 8, if I remember correctly. It came with a big pile of pork BBQ, hushpuppies, fries, and slaw. The BBQ came presauced and they also included some individual packets of Texas Pete. The BBQ was kind of odd. I feel like some of these areas through the mountains don’t stick to a traditional Eastern or Lexington style. The BBQ wasn’t really chopped, minced, or pulled. It was just kind of just a pile of pork. Hard to explain. The sauce wasn’t really much of anything. I guess I would describe it as tangy. No smokiness to speak of. The BBQ wasn’t terrible. It just definitely isn’t something I would go out of my way for. The fries were very good and crispy, and the slaw was alright. The hushpuppies were probably the worst part. They were so dry that I couldn’t even finish off a whole one without drying out my whole mouth. We ended up getting some apple sticks and ice cream for dessert. The apple sticks were basically baked apples with fried battered around them. They were very good, especially with vanilla ice cream. The ice cream that they serve is the type that you got in the cafeteria as a kid. I’m talking about the kind in the little styrofoam tub with a wooden tab to eat it with. May have been the nostalgia, but it tasted really good. This hut shares a parking lot with a gas station, and if you want to use the bathroom, you’ll have to use the gas station’s(Hut’s bathroom was out of order when we went). There are a couple of tables where you can eat beside the hut. The employees were friendly and this place has some local charm to it. The Bar-B-Que Hut is not something that I would go out of my way for, but if you are traveling through Marion, it is a better option than all of the chain fast food that is in the area. Also, I think that if I came back, I would opt for the burger. That seemed to be what most of the locals ordered.

Awesome hotdogs, fries and onion rings, looking forward to trying the broccoli cheddar cheese nuggets next time. Quick and courteous service. Great prices. Outside seating available. Must stop on any visit to marion or for a good lunch.

The food is good for the price. And far better than any of the fast food places in town.

Oh gosh. This stuff was good. Just be prepared for this roller coaster of a dining experience. You’ll start off mildly curious, but before you know it you’re digging your face into pounds of classic barbecue fixins. You’ll end your ride miserably full and not proud of the pork massacre you just witnessed. But hey at least you decided to look past that half-rate KFC up the road, and to that I say well done.

Very excited to try this place. Was definitely packed. Cars pull in, cars pull out. I peeked through the order window and there had to have been 40 burgers(hand formed) cooking on the grill at once. Service was quick and friendly, Yes, they do accept credit cards. The prices are very good, especially when there’s a special. I only paid $ 5.50 for a large BBQ sandwich, fries and a drink. The sandwich comes with slaw and pickles on it. The barbeque was good, average to maybe a little better than average. What I didn’t like was the giant super soft sesame seed bun it was served on. The crinkle cut fries were crispy and hot, just like I like them. The outside dining area was pretty grubby and could have used a good wipe down. As I was leaving I couldn’t help thinking that maybe, based on the number of burgers cooking, that I should have gotten a burger…

There is a sign up at the BarBQue Hut saying that they accept debit and credit cards, so the policy must have changed. Good prices, 1 lb BBQ for $ 6.99!
