Country fried steak was on point. I love the breading and the meat was very tender with lots of flavor. House salad was fresh and really good. Service was really good as well I was asked if I needed help from at least 3 different servers.

Just got the chicken fried steak lunch special. While it was good it’s just not the same as when it’s not on special. It’s about half the size and not as crunchy as the full price meal. Maybe they make them a little ahead of time and hold them? It was still tasty and that wouldn’t stop me from coming to this great little restaurant.

Home cooking at its finest! I love everything but you can’t beat the chocolate pie!

Great food and super friendly staff. Thought I’d try the classic chicken fried steak to put them to the test — and they passed with flying colors! It was so tender you could cut it with a fork. No excess breading and just the right amount of gravy. The green beans were tasty, as were the mashed potatoes. Had the chocolate ice box pie for dessert. The waitstaff was really friendly and helpful, even got to talk to one of the owners for awhile — they’re really involved in the local community, which is always great to see. Will definitely be adding this place to our list of favorite places to eat. Great home cooking in a friendly atmosphere.

A quaint homey place with fabulous food and prices. The enchilada plate was just like my Mom used to make. Cheese enchiladas smothered in chili with lots of meat and flavor. Husband had pork steak which had a pan fried glaze and seasoned with coarse ground salt and pepper! A yummy experience if you want country home cooking.

When we come into town, this is one of our first stops. Last week it was as good as always! Great service, nice people, delicious food. Wish we could go again before we leave, but it will have to wait until the next trip! Check it out, you won’t be disappointed!

I’ve been here once. I need to go back. I had the special, turkey and dressing. It was very good.

Excellent local, home-cooked meals, I like the chicken fried chicken hoagie with seasoned fries. I love their white gravy with the fries. The have excellent cajun catfish and top notch cheese burgers, which are lean and delicious. This Goerke family has been satisfying local tastes for over 20 years in the area. The restaurant is in a charming historic building that is probably almost 100 years old, when Marion was a railroad destination in 1877.

People love this place, if you look for greasy and plenty of food, this is the place to go. The atmosphere is excellent and normally you need to make line to get a table.

I have been going back to GG’s [local name] for many many years. It has great home-cooking at affordable prices. Chicken-fried steak, catfish, and an assortment of Mexican foods to satisfy all. Pepsi products and Dr. Pepper [a plus!]. Located just a mile from the town border, it will not be something you forget! Great service, awesome food, and the feel of family all in one location.

If you miss the Old Goerke’s down home cooking, you need to go by Gg’s in Marion. It’s right on 78 next door to Penshorn’s. The food is fabulous and cheap! They are open for breakfast and lunch. The lunch specials are hard to beat. Remember the wonderful enchiladas at Goerkes? You can get them at Gg’s now!
