This has been my go to place for groceries for years! The staff is very helpful and have they have a vast selection. Anything you could ever need you will find at this store including a bank, a Chinese express and a Starbucks. The wine and craft beer selection is also quite extensive. Also with the recent addition of the fuel saver card you can save quite a bit of money on gas. I was surprised by how much money I got off a gallon of gas after doing my routine shopping. Great store, great staff, great prices. That’s what I look for in a grocery store and they deliver.

Best Chinese food in Iowa. No place like Marion hy-vee! Great selection and if they don’t have it, find a manager and they WILL get it for you on the next truck. Wine and spirits has everything you could possibly need. Health market is good and growing. Best Chinese food in Iowa.

When we first moved to CR, I didn’t know much about the grocery stores in Iowa. What I do know is that when I step into Marion Hyvee, I get stared at with either open gaped mouths or open gaped mouths with spit dripping because customers think I am an alien and will eat their brains(I am Asian, technically I am a legal alien). Even the Chinese at the Chinese food counter stare at me because I don’t look like I’m fresh off the boat and speak English fluently. Even my Iowan coworker thought I was adopted. I’ve discovered the Edgewood Hyvee and the Lindale Mall Hyvee, these are my goto stores. I get less stared at.

Doesn’t accept can returns at customer service counter. You have to use can return machines that seldom work.

This is strictly for the food department, not the wine and spirits. I don’t know how people can shop at this grocery store without having a brain aneurysm. The prices are ridiculously higher than Fareway or Target. Here are last night’s examples: Coffeemate Creamer: Hy Vee: $ 4.28, Fareway/Target: $ 3.29. Jimmy Dean Sausage(sage flavor): Hy Vee $ 4.39, Fareway/Target: $ 2.84 Eggs, store brand: Hy Vee $ 2.35, Fareway/Target: 1.89(18 count eggs for $ 2.44) Kale bunch: Hy Vee $ 2.35, Target(Fareway doesn’t carry Kale): $ 0.99! Cuties brand Clementines 5lbs: Hy Vee $ 7.88 Target $ 5.99(regularly on sale for $ 4.99) I’m sorry, but these are some pretty basic expenses. If it was 20 cents, even 50 cents for a product here and there, that’s pretty understandable. But we’re talking a few bucks difference on lots of items(in case you’re curious, not a single item we purchased last night was cheaper than Hy Vee’s competitor’s). For this reason alone, I doubt I will ever shop here for groceries again. Maybe I’m cheap, or maybe I value my dollar too much. I’m fine with either description.

The spirits department is the best in town. They have wine tastings at least every other month and even throw in a few beer & vodka tastings here and there. Sometimes they are free, sometimes it’s $ 5 entry but you get a coupon for 5 bucks off any alcohol purchase. The employees are quite knowledgable & helpful. Prices are competitive but the real reasons to shop here are selection and service. The first Wednesday of every month is the 10% off paper bag sale.
