My wife and I were fortunate enough to stop at this truck on our drive from Northern Virginia to Dallas, Texas(that’s a long drive, lemme tell ya). You know men when we drive, at least generally, we’re all about getting to our destination ASAP/STAT/YESTERDAY. But the wife, the wife always wants to stop some place nice. Some place quaint. Cute towns. Sites to see. Views. Side routes. You know. So I’m driving, but I want to keep the wife happy. «Wendy’s?» The wife is tired of Wendy’s. «We always go to Wendy’s.» In this case she means on cross-country trips, and she has a point. So she convinces me to check out this little town that has more options than just the regular fast food, and while we’re driving through we see this little food truck. We don’t even see the sign, but we have a good, lucky feeling about it. Do we stop? Not yet. We keep driving down the road to make sure nothing else catches our eye. I make a U-turn and head back to Mark’s. It’s unassuming. It could be great. It could be okay. It could be sub-par. We won’t know until we try it. We park and walk up to the truck’s window to order our food. A quick look over at the menu and we both know what we want: BBQ sandwich platter w/2 sides. I get beans and hash browns casserole, and the wife gets beans and coleslaw with hers. The girl who took our order was nice and polite. The prices — great — especially for people used to Northern Virginia prices(thinking of moving to NOVA? Don’t). We wait a respectable(but pretty short) amount of time before we get our food and then the girl calls us over to the window and hands us our styrofoam boxes. Gee-whiz, let me tell you: Good. Food. The sandwiches were made with good meat, good sauce, and good seasoning. Just really well done. The sides? Wow. The beans were fantastic, but the hash brown casserole? Out-of-this-world. Given the opportunity I would have eaten myself to death with that stuff. Overall the wife and I were happy we stopped. Did it take a bit longer than your average fast food place? To be honest… not that much. Either way, I’m happy I went — and you will be too. Just remember, this is a food truck so call ahead to see where they are! Enjoy!
