Let me start by saying that this review is only for the massage portion of the salon only. I am a client on the hair and nail side as well and have been pleased with those services. I plan on doing a different review for hair in a couple weeks after my next hair appointment. My stylist is awesome and I am so glad I found her after moving back in the area six months ago. Now, on to my experience with the full body massage. I have had two massages. I received three different gift certificates for 60 minute full body massages over the holidays and was so excited to use them since I just finished training for firefighting. When I went in January I was thinking I would have a wonderful hour long appointment filled with relaxation and muscle pain relief. Upon arrival, I was hopeful. Once laying in the massage room I started to realize this wasn’t like the full service spa I was used to after living in North Carolina. I was freezing and the room was chilly. There is a window with blinds in the massage room leading to the very busy main hall in the hair/nail area. You can hear hair dryers, shoes, and every conversation happening right outside. When the lady started to massage me, it got worse. She was very nice and apologetic for having cold hands but even the oil was cold. I would recommend a warmer for the oil and heated blankets. Especially in the winter. I expected to have an hour of massage time and ended with about 50 – 55 minutes. I left a tip and left disappointed. Fast forward one month. Same experience. I was called back for my 11am appt at 1103 and after undressing quickly, the massage started at six after. There is a clock in the room so I checked it after my last experience. The bed was heated this time although not enough in my opinion. She again had cold hands and cold oil. I commented about my back being my biggest issue and I feel like she barely spent any time there. Most time being on my shoulders and neck. The appointment ended abruptly at 1159 and I was told I could get dressed and make my way to the front desk. The front desk receptionist was very nice and while I was paying the tip she asked how it was. I told her and she apologizes and explained that I do not have to use the third certificate on a massage and can use it towards hair or nails. I will be doing this. The receptionist is amazingly nice and I have enjoyed all other experiences here minus the massages. I would recommend them for hair and nails and would say skip them for spa and head to Columbus instead. I called and spoke with the owner and he explained that the one hour full body is usually about 50 minutes after dressing and it allots for time in between appointments. If you don’t advertise it as a 50 minute massage, don’t tell me it is one. Also, if you need time in between appointments, don’t book them back to back although I’m not convinced that she had appointments before or after me. He also stated that depending on the size of the client depends on how long it takes. Bigger clients take longer to massage. I was a little shocked he made this comment. He also said its the same thing for their 45 minute pedicure. If you dont need a lot of work or go for pedis frequently, it doesnt take as long. I think, if it takes shorter for you to massage my body because I am healthy and smaller, work on an area longer. And with pedicures, rub the feet longer. It almost seems like if you are a frequent visitor of the salon, you get less time. Again, this is only for massage. LOVE the hair side and I am very happy with my stylist!
