My first time in Marion, IL and I found this store via Beer Advocate, where it has a high rating. When I entered the store, I was the only customer inside, I was not greeted and the two guys behind the registers just continued their conversation like I wasn’t even there, nor did they offer assistance of any kind, until i was checking out. Which does not bother me personally but could be off putting to others. The selection for beer was better than I expected for this area, but they do not carry everything in the states distribution. They do have some older stock on the shelves, which can be good or bad depending on your personal taste, so you could find certain beers that may have flown off the shelves in other locations. If you are in the area and looking for your craft beer fix, stop here!

I was discriminated by not being a local here today. Although the the prices are quite fair, the fact I was told they don’t sell specific items to «non-local’s,» which I’ll add my mother is a local and came in with me and I’m visiting for the holiday, left me very disappointed. Not a way to run a business.

For this area, they have an outstanding craft beer selection. That is as far as I got in first visit. No clue on wine and whiskey selection, didn’t look.

A great little beer store in Southern Illinois. While driving back from Illinois to Texas, this and 17th Street BBQ(even though this BBQ is not as good as the Murphysboro location, still very good) are becoming a regular stop of mine. Everything is very clean and well organized. A cooler with plenty of singles, and six packs. Then there are a few rows of more singles and more six packs on the shelf. Selection is on par with anything in the state outside Binny’s and anything in Chicago. It puts any of the crappy beer/liquor stores in Carbondale to shame. Jolly Pumpkin, everything from Founders and Bell’s, some rarer items from Mikeller, Black Xantus. I could name much of the selection, but it does not really matter. You will find something, and most everything that has distribution in the area can be found here. Maybe not the drop dead selection that can be found in Chicago, but really good none the less. Plenty of wine and whiskey as well. Service is top notch and friendly. They know their stuff, and are happy to strike up a conversation. They will help you carry everything to the car, and informed me this week(the last week in December) is %20 off all craft brews. For my bill that was over $ 25. Prices without the discount are just a tad high, but not bad at all, or maybe that is just the difference between prices in Southern Illinois and Champaign? This is a regular stop of mine when I drive back and forth from Houston to Illinois on occasion. An all around very nice store.
