This place has absolutely gorgeous views of Linville Gorge, Hawksbill Mountain, and Table Rock – probably the best in the Blue Ridge Mountains. On a clear morning, the sunrise is exquisite and on clear nights, this is a great place to view a North Carolina legend, the Brown Mountain Lights. The walk to the overlook is a fairly short, simple walk. Much of the overlook is rock-fenced off for safety, but there are a few areas where you can climb out and sit on the ledge. This place is located about a 15 – 20 minute windy drive down a gravel and dirt path/road. I wouldn’t say you need an SUV to make it, but I would not take a small car. It is definitely a well kept secret, and almost exclusively a locals spot. Make the drive. You will not be disappointed.
