Not a lot of great places to eat in Mariposa, especially for lunch, but Short Stop is a wonderful exception. They have consistently great sandwiches and prices as well. I always know I will get a good bite to eat when I stop here. Fresh ingredients and friendly people– I will frequent this place often.

Great place to stop for a bite. Stopped by today after leaving Yosemite and reading the Unilocal reviews… thanks all. The spicy Californian and the chicken with bacon were great. Fresh ingredients, perfect size. Funky location but definitely worth the stop.

What a find! Stopped by this hidden gem of a place on the way to Yosemite. Not only was the food delicious, but there was something for everyone — my husband the carnivore, my in-laws who have a lot of opinions about how food should be, and then me, the gluten-free foodie with the severe food allergy. Everyone was pleased with the variety on the menu. The Shortstop folks turned my pesto-chicken-veggie sandwich into a gluten-free lettuce wrap, and voluntarily assured me that it would be prepared separately to avoid gluten contamination. It was scrumptious, like a home-made, gourmet, healthy, comfort-food sandwich made with love. It is outdoor seating only here, and they do not have their own bathroom yet, so you have to go across the street to use the rest-area restroom, but the food and service is so great, who cares! My only wish was that they would serve hot tea or hot beverages. With the outdoor seating, if there’s a slight chill in the air, it would be nice to have something warm to drink. Make that change, and I would give this place 5 stars, in a heartbeat.

OK, I’m officially addicted to their California Spicy Black Bean Wrap!!! It is perfect with your choice of cheese, avocado, red onions, tomatoes, salsa and a smidge of balsamic vinegar, sour cream if you want. I’ve had at least one a week since I discovered them. My order is tacked by their phone so all I have to do is call and say I’m coming in. And yes, they’re on my speed dial. I

Having lived in a few states(5 from east to west) I’m always on a quest for places like this. Great atmosphere, delicious sandwiches, awesome/down to earth owners, and extensive yet not confusing menus. I ordered the chicken pesto which was a hot sandwich. The chicken was moist, the pesto was so fresh as were the vegetables. The owners have grown some of the produce used in their sandwiches. The French roll they placed these ingredients in was also very tasty. Great and fresh tasting,… and reasonably priced for the quality of sandwich. It may take 2 minutes longer than assembly line Subway(although I’ve waited longer in line at Subway) but quality is well worth the wait. Enjoy!

How stinkin’ adorable is this place? So glad my local friend brought me here for lunch. The menu is pretty vast; and how can you beat the list of wraps and sandwiches that are only! $ 3.00? Everything was fresh and delicious! And apparently the sweet irony of the place is part of it’s charm. Despite the name, they do take a bit of a time to make even the simple orders. Not forever, mind you, it’s just not Subway-fast. Also; it’s outdoor seating only, so enjoy that mountain air!
