Been going for several years now and my children now are happy clients too! Always a warm welcome and the service is amazing. I have very course thick chemically treated hair and Lauren has made it do things it has never done before. She has truly transformed my hair from me hating it to loving it. Thousands spent elsewhere and here is where I should have come all along! Highly recommend!

I’m also sorry to say, I spent over $ 200 for cut and color and it was far from worth it. I had to hold my tears back as I walked out and not a single person in the salon could even tell what color my hair was(definitely a red flag). I mean I guess I can say I’m lucky my hair wasn’t burned off and that I still have my length. My hair was cut wet and she didn’t cut it again after blow drying it, so my layers and my bangs don’t blend into the rest of my hair and I have to wear it up every day because I’m so embarrassed. Moral of the story. Not everyone has a good hair day, but speak up if you’re not happy, I’ve seen them do really great work there and if it’s not what you want I’m sure it’s fixable.

Sorry to say… I had a bad experience here. The salon boasts being a Ouidad curly hair certified salon. I don’t want to mention the name of the stylist, but she really did a bad hack job on my hair. It was just OK for the first few days, but after that, I noticed that it was cut in a pattern of a 70’s shag. The ends were cut jagged. You don’t cut curly hair that way! The hair was messy and frizzier than when I walked in the door, and continued to frizz to the point where it was unmanageable, and no curl existed. Everyone that is raving about this salon in these reviews probably has long, straight hair. That’s the trouble with stylists today — that’s all they know how to do — work with a straight hair cut, straighten it by blowing it out, and give Keratin treatments. This does not apply to everyone that walks in the door. I am very disappointed. Another thing that was not mentioned to me when booking was that they prefer not to use credit cards. When I booked the appointment and they knew that I was a new client, they should have mention this fact. When they do accept them because that’s all you brought with you, the merchant fee for using the card is placed on the client and not the business. I have never heard of such a thing!!! What nerve!!!

The entire staff is welcoming and makes you feel comfortable from the minute you walk in the door until the moment you leave. Lauren G. has been cutting my hair here for 5+ years. After years of bad haircuts, I won’t let anyone else touch my hair. Having curly hair, it’s difficult to find someone who understands how different parts of your hair can grow at different rates and every piece curls differently. Lauren will cut wet or dry, depending on what look we’re trying to achieve. Prices are reasonable compared with salons that offer similar services in the area. If you have curly or hard-to-tame hair, this is the place for you!

Well trained, continually educating themselves on cutting edge techniques, very friendly, a very CLEAN salon. If you have curly hair, this is the place for you. If you don’t have curly hair, this is STILL the place for you. The staff is a great team that works so well together, led by their Team Leader, Onita. They are highly skilled color technicians and are constantly working to improve upon their already amazing skills. I was never ever unhappy with my hair or the service I have received from Chips Salon. I have been going their for over 10 years and fear the day I may have to change salons(if I move or whatever). I have never been so happy with a stylist and my hair has never looked as good as it has since I started going there. I am very picky about stylists and I have been to quite a few around Monmouth Cty. Chips is my place for now and for always(unless I ever have to move lol).

I had my hair cut here last night. I have SUPER long hair. Down to my butt and I absolutely cherish it. I only get my hair cut every 6 months because of the fear that a stylist will take it off. This is another reason why I am picky on who cuts my hair. WELL. Lily was absolutely ah-freaking-mazing. She didn’t take off too much knowing that I was afraid. She layered it and angled it beautifully so it has a amazing flip. She also did my hairy eyebrows. No pain whatsoever. And believe me I hate getting my eye brows done. Another thing. I feel so awkward in the cut chair. I’m bad at conversing with people. Lily made it so easy. The rest of the staff is great too. So friendly, easy going, and fun! Definitely found my hair stylist forever.

Being a resident of this area for all my life I have tried SOO many hair salons, and I have to say Chips Salon is FABULOUS, and exactly what I was looking for in a Salon! Only being there a few times, the overall atmosphere is fun, friendly, and professional. It is a mix of both younger and older stylist. The first time I went I was taking my changes considering I had short hair, I put my trust in the stylist, Harleigh, and she did exactly what I wanted. From the moment I sat in her chair she asked me all the necessary questions. and from their she asked about what products I use and like. She is super down to earth, and was very personable. I have not yet done color there but they do have a cute color bar area sectioned off in the Salon with a TV, and an area that has food and beverages which is also a nice touch. I highly recommend this salon for an affordable haircut who lives in the area :)
