Went here based on reviews… not sure who wrote these reviews, but they are way off… Let me start by saying that I come from an Italian family, so I am a tough critic, but none-the-less, a restaurant advertising themselves as Italian, should be quality. Sauce is everything, and I’m always very scepticle when ordering sauce out, bc after all, nobody makes better sauce than your own family. This sauce was horrible; it tasted like sugar with pepper spice. The service was spotty, there were only 3 tables and 1 server, and we def did not get the attention we deserved. My friend had food stuck to her water glass, so she complained and got a new glass, after drinking the new glass noticed there was food floating in her new water(gross). All in all, a very bad experience. Worst Italian I’ve had in Ulster County. I feel bad bc it looks like the owners put some work into the place :-(

The Hidden Cellar has amazing food! I had the eggplant florentine and it was delicious and a huge portion. My only critique is service was pretty slow for a Wednesday night, as they only had one server working. Definitely recommend if you are not in a rush, the food is worth the wait!

The food, atmosphere and service were all outstanding!!! This is a nice place to go if you just want to sit and enjoy your meal. We ordered to home style meatballs for an appetizer and Chicken Parm — mine was with marinara and my husband had it with fra diavolo. We will gladly go to this restaurant again for«date» night.

Local family here pass by this place everyday but finally decided to give it a try seeing the reviews on Unilocal and by word of mouth seemed like a nice place for a birthday dinner. Unfortunately this place should’ve remained hidden. Coming in for a birthday dinner for five decided to make a reservation for the five of us for 7pm. We arrive and have to look around to find someone who works there. When we do track someone down we are told that it’s going to be a few minutes and that they are running just a little bit behind. It’s Friday night and you’re semi busy, can’t handle your business it happens we suppose. We are hungry and don’t make much fuss about being sat at 725. We are sat and given waters by a bus girl who was very nice throughout this joke of a «meal». After ten minutes we meet our first member of the staff who advises that our«real waitress» will be over soon but she will get our drinks. Another ten minutes goes by and we finally meet our waitress Amber(lovely girl, very nice) who takes an appetizer order and dinner order finally we are making some progress. Appetizers come out in a reasonable time along with warm bread. Food is solid and things seem fine. ONEHOURLATER we are still waiting for entrees and have been told that the kitchen is backed up 10+ times although we see tables of similar size around us getting entrees though they arrived fifteen plus minutes after us. Tired of this same excuse we ask to speak to a manager who has not yet come to explain our situation or give us any idea about when we might you know eat dinner. A skinny rough skinned blonde woman comes to our table and places her hands on the table without giving a name(I’ll edit with a name once we speak to ownership) Here is what this peach of a «manager”(using that term very loosely) has to say: So I know you’ve been waiting but the kitchen is backed up. Did you guys not have any salad or appetizers(small tapas style, good but small serving for five people)?» We say yes an hour ago now what are you doing to fix this? Waiting this long is a joke. Back to this«manager”– «But you had salad and appetizers correct?» When I asked her not to change the subject and explain what she is doing to expedite the kitchen and serve our entrees after an hour she became flustered and can only muster this incredibly unprofessional, termination worthy response«Would you like me to just bring you your check and you can leave?» We say yes because dealing with this person has ruined our appetite. So your first response to a table waiting an hour for entrees while others around them who arrived later are getting food is to see if we can just leave? Very nice. This woman is not fit for the service industry. What she is fit for I do not know. Ownership should enjoy this story about her sending $ 150 out the door. Place is nice enough but until this joke of an employee is gone don’t waste your time. Just look for the skinny rough skinned woman calling herself a manager but hopefully they keep her hidden like she was for most of the night.

Their food is incredible! I had gone to a close friend’s party this past weekend, and Hidden Cellar catered. The chicken parm and penne ala vodka has absolutely the best flavor. Outstanding! If I lived closer I’d probably be eating here every week.

I had a lovely meal here this past Saturday with my husband. It was a celebratory dinner and it was the first time we had dined here. The atmosphere and ambiance was really nice and cozy. The place kind of has a warm, family dining feel to it, and its also nice for a couple as well, to relax in for a nice romantic dinner. The Hidden Cellar came recommended by a friend, and it did not disappoint. We had made reservations and got seated in a nice little cozy corner table, which was just what I was looking for! I love it when I get seated in what seems to be the best table/seat in the house! Jacqueline was our server and was very prompt, cordial and informative. We thoroughly enjoyed our delicious appetizers(Lobster Crab Cakes and Calamari) and our dinner entrees(Chicken Marsala w/spaghetti and Veal Saltimbocca with a side order of broccoli rabe). Everything tasted so fresh and home-made. The bread that was served before dinner was very fresh and fluffy– so nice! We will definitely be back again very soon!

Love this place. I’m happy to see a place close to home that I enjoy. The food is phenomenal and the portions are huge! Love their mozzarella wedges and chicken francese! Everyone is very friendly and welcoming as well. I definitely plan on going back.

This is our go too for takeout on busy nights, but it’s very nice inside and I wouldn’t normally think of it for takeout. We just live closeby. The atmosphere to me is romantic, but plenty of families go there too. The food — excellent. Never had a dish I didn’t love. Gnocchi is excellent and I see it’s on the regular menu now so I don’t have to wait for it to be a special. Penne ala Vodka is a family favorite. Chicken parm ranks up there too. Bread is homemade and the hosue salad dressing has great flavor. The bar is cute and a great place to wait and enjoy a drink. super cute inside.
