Wonderful sweets served with confidence. The croissants are the best I have had outside of Europe(and better than most I have had in Europe). The San Marcos cakes are wonderful and have become a family staple for special events. At this point people ask me when I’m invited to their house if I’m going to bring something from Madrid. Don’t be afraid to ask for advice or to take a flyer and just try something random from the case. You won’t be disappointed.

Our favorite little bakery! Everything we have tried there has been absolutely amazing. We especially look forward to the blueberry scones and apple tart on weekends!

Best croissants ever but available only on the weekends. Excellent cakes that melt in your mouth. Friendly. Very clean. Overall, best bakery in the area!

Fantastic bakery! I specially love the variety of tortes(try the olive almond torte, gluten-free!). My husband enjoyed the lemon tarte and my kids loved the cookies. Will have to go again and try their croissants.

My wife and I were on a drive this past weekend and we happened upon Madrid Bakery. We thought we’d drop in and take a look around, BIGMISTAKE!!! We tried three different items, the scones, the apple tart and the little lemon pastry thingys and thought we’d died and gone to heaven! In fact, we were already back on the road, we took a bite of the lemon pastries, we did a U-turn and came back for more! To top things off, the two ladies at the bakery, the owner and her neighbor, were so much fun, so friendly and helpful that even if the baked goods weren’t so hot, we would have come back just to hang out with them! Great atmosphere, great people, an explosion of goodness in every bite, I rate this bakery a 1,000,000!!!

Best place ever. This is completely worth the drive from wherever you are. I took my dad, who has the biggest sweet tooth out of anyone I know. He had to leave and asked me to surprise him because he couldn’t handle all the choices. I got him the custard apple tart for his birthday and half a dozen little pastries. He was in heaven! The croissants are the best I’ve ever had. Take the time to stop in, it’s worth it!

I found Madrid on Unilocal when looking for a bakery to bring a nice dessert for Thanksgiving. There was a large selection of delicious looking cakes and desserts. I decided on an apple tart. It was amazing. Everyone loved it. I’m looking forward to Christmas when I’ll go back for another dessert.

If you have a sweet tooth like me and are looking for a very unique experience with delightful yet not overly sweet cakes and cookies, Madrid Bakery could also be your go to place:-) everything is really fresh and has been made from scratch! Love this place! Go check them out!

Just go. It could be difficult to find. The sign is small. Pull off into the parking lot where you see the Wayside Country Store. The bakery is in the small building to the left of it. Amazing, wonderful. We are dying to go back. Congratulations to the family who run this place. Everything was perfect. The éclair was the best that I have ever eaten. The almond cakes will change those who think«gluten free» means«not a real pastry». The almond cakes are traditional to Spain

The best éclairs ever!!! The woman who was working the day my dad and I were there about a month ago was very nice. Everything made from scratch in house. But honestly, I’ve never had a tastier éclair. Perfect chocolate ganache and filling!

I love to support local, family owned establishments and the Madrid Bakery is just that. More importantly, the products here are freshly made with great care and absolutely delicious! This is THE only place for our family’s birthday and special occasion cakes-we have tried them all and they are all fantastic! You can special order or walk in and get an individual size to see what you like. The Artisan nut cakes may not look like much, I even think they look a bit dry, but OMG!!! They are SO full of flavor and so moist! All that and they are 100% Natural, Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Grain Free, Leavener Free… perfect to take or sent(they do mail these cakes, they will not mail the others because they refuse to use preservatives and make an inferior product-kudos!) They also have several croissants, perfect for a weekend morning with a latte and the paper… the Palmiers and chocolate laced nut brittles are prefect gifts-for yourself as well as others. This is a true family business, Sergio the husband is the genius baker and deeply cares about the product he produces, everything but a few small items are made from scratch. Sergio’s sweet mother in law runs the shop with some help from his wife(her daughter but with 2 young kids and a PhD, she has her hands overly full). The shop manager is well educated about the products and can help you find exactly what best suits your needs. We are always greeted like old friends and it is made clear that our business is appreciated. This bakery is unlike any other you have experienced outside of Madrid. You will not find mix cakes with lard based icing here, lucky for you! Instead, you will find elegant cakes that are light and flavorful and more delicious than they are lovely(a feat in itself!). Grab the keys and hope in the car, you know you want to go, so do it you will be so glad you did!

Love love their cakes and pastries. I have tried chocolate san marcos and some small pastries and all were delicious. The profiteroles are light, buttery, crisp and all things good. I live and work a bit far and glad to know that they do sell their dry cakes outside too and they do mail out cakes: D

I’m very happy to find a local wonderful bakery. Thanks to Unilocal and all the reviewers. I tried their Chocolate San Marcos and it is very absolutely delicious. I will definitely go back and try their other deserts. Like other reviewers said that it is a bit expensive, but you get high quality gourmet product.

Friendly owner! Tasty food! Best dessert spot in Marlborough area, a little bit pricy(a slice of cake is around $ 6.50) but worth it.

What an amazing find. Thanks to Unilocal, when looking for a non-traditional but super-delicious birthday dessert for my fiancé in March, when we were in the process of moving and all of my baking pans were in boxes, I stumbled upon Madrid. Buoyed by the great reviews, I went there on my lunch break one day and came home with four individual slices/desserts — an éclair, a piece of the chocolate bombé, and two pieces of their signature dessert, the San Marcos torte, one vanilla and one strawberry. Oh man. Everything was sinfully delicious. I’d never had anything quite like the San Marcos before — a brulee-like top layer over moist, melt-in-your-mouth layers of cake and cream. Then this past week I went there again to get a birthday cake for a co-worker — bought an entire slab of chocolate San Marcos torte and got nothing but rave reviews from everyone. Add to that the delightful owner, so sweet, so friendly — and you’ve got an improbably wonderful bakery in the middle of nowhere. I haven’t tried their croissants(yet), but I can’t wait.

The absolute best bakery I’ve experienced in the US. The owner does it right at Madrid and treats everyone with such kindness. We are so lucky to have this gem right in our neighborhood. The croissants will transport you back to France with one bite. We have to ration our visits to make sure we don’t balloon up to 500 pounds a piece. If you want croissants, make sure to order ahead. People come in droves on the weekend to get their fix. The cakes and other sweet treats are equally amazing. Her flour-less cakes are a great choice for those gluten free folks out there. Definitely worth a special trip.

I have been meaning to get here for Months… Finally Got up Early and drove 45 mins to finally try Madrid.. Thankfully I got there Early… Because the croissants were almost gone already… so I purchase a few croissants. went to the car, couldn’t resist and took one bite of the Plain Croissant, Oh My… LITERALLYHEAVEN. I finished it and went inside to buy another 5. The croissants were crispy on the outside and soft and buttery on the inside. with a touch of sweetness. it was perfect… Also had the Almond Croissant… AMAZING… the apple and chocolate were also delicious… i had to also try a slice of the famous cake and i will be ordering this for my birthday. rich, creamy, decadent but not too sweet. The almond cake was really good. .wow. Yes I got and tried all this in the same day. just couldn’t resist… I Definitely Agree with all Unilocalers. this is the Best Bakery… Spoke to the Owner and she told me to call ahead to order and she will set some aside. that way theres no rushing to get there early and more time to snooze.

Ordered a San Marcos Cake(vanilla) for a birthday celebration. It was $ 32 for a cake that was more than enough for 6 people for dessert — you could easily serve 12 people with the same cake. Seemless order. The cake has a bit of an alcoholic flavor to it(possibly they use a little rum as an ingredient). Nice quality cake — great for something a little different. Near the border of Sudbury and Marlboro, in a tiny strip adjacent to the Marlboro General Store.

Came back here early this morning for croissants. They were awesome. We got the plain, pastry cream filled and almond paste filled. They were all perfectly sweetened, light and airy! We also got a slice of the coffee cake tortes that they have on display. This is also always delicious! *You must get here reasonably early in the morning to get the croissants on Sunday mornings. They only make so many and always sell out!
