Expensive but combined with the great service and even better food, it rates as a good value when you want something special. Wine list had great selections. A bit of a surprise to find something this good in Marquette.

A lovely setting to enjoy a delightful meal. The menu selections were unique and intriguing. We saw the chef out talking with patrons and he seemed like a very nice man. From what we gathered he is also the owner. From the host to our waiter everyone was top notch. The prime rib was perfect and the whitefish out of this world. Would recommend to anyone having a special night out.

The best steak I’ve ever eaten hands down no questions asked! Baked potato was HUGE and done excellently. Great service with friendly people. Definitely enjoyed it if I’m back in town and looking for a higher end meal I wouldn’t think of going anywhere else.

Celebrated an early anniversary dinner here, while visiting our daughter during NMU Family weekend. Beautiful restaurant and location and extremely professional servers. However, just a little disappointed in a few details that kept the experience from being what I expected. For example, my water glass had dried food on the rim and the time we waited in between our appetizer, soup/salads and entrée was a little long. It also took a little longer for our water glasses to be filled after being completely emptied. Food was tasty and fresh but for what we paid, I guess my expectations were a little higher. I enjoyed looking over the menu and choices on the wine list though, and the hand pressed coffee with dessert was a definite highlight for me.

DON’T GOHERE!!! The food may look nice but the owner waters down his sauces and uses cheap produce instead of quality ingredients just to save a few pennies. Not only that, the owner is the RUDEST person I have ever met in my entire life! He treats his employees horribly and doesn’t care about the patrons in his restaurant nor anyone else; the only thing he cares about is himself. Even if the food tastes fine most of the time, please DONOT support an establishment who treats people so poorly and screws over everyone in their path; especially his employees who are doing all the work to make him money!

Excellent food and service! Matthew was a phenomenal waiter. We had a party of 10 to celebrate the NMU homecoming win. We had a mix of whitefish, hickory ribeye and salmon dinners. All meals were fantastic. Dessert was amazing! I Highly recommend this place for the food, atmosphere and service.

This is a pricy restaurant, but generally you get your money’s worth. My wife and I go there for special dates and anniversaries. We usually get the prime rib which is excellent and generously portioned, and as I said you pay premium here. I’ve had the scallops and a few other offerings and it is very well prepared. My wife loves the lobster bisque, it is a bit pricey for how much you get. They could up the amount you get a bit. The bread plate they serve is very good and makes up for the scant amount of bisque. The atmosphere is nice. One thing that was a bit annoying the last time we were there was the servers coming too often to refill our water. It was actually obtrusive. My wife and I were trying to have a conversation but kept getting interrupted with water refills. It was our anniversary and they give us a nice card signed by staff. A nice touch. If you want to eat at a fancy restaurant, which means you pay some money out, this is a good place because I feel that you get your high dollar’s worth. I am not wealthy by any means, but I enjoy treating my wife to a nice dinner on special dates and this is an enjoyable place with great food. Don’t come here if you are frugal or looking for bargains. This is not got you.

Run, don’t walk away from this overpriced fiasco. More pricy than a good dinner at the Palm or Morton’s and the food was absolutely terrible. I ordered Filet and Crab legs. The wedge salad featured a small amount of old lettuce, followed by a completely overcooked filet,(I’d ordered it medium) and cold crab legs. I returned the plate and was brought a grossly undercooked steak and the same cold crab. Others at the table had similar experiences with burnt onion rings, the smallest piece of Salmon imaginable over glossy coagulated risotto. The service was on a par with the food. The young lady tried, but did not measure up to the caliber needed for a restaurant in this price range.

This resturant really doesn’t deserve one star. Nothing was cooked properly, over cooked filets, burnt scallops, risotto was like paste, and the list goes on. The chef absolutely does not know how to cook, certainly not in this price point. The service was on the same par with the chef. She mixed up everyone’s white wine. We were all drinking out of the wrong glass. New glasses had to be brought and wine re-poured. Request for an additional glass took the better part of the meal to get. Requests for ice just never happened. This meal was very expensive and you can get much better food in other restaurants in Marquette for less than half the price. It was a major rip off! This is the first time I’ve written a review on Unilocal but I don’t want to see anyone else waste their money.

We went through Marquette on the way to Copper Harbor on a Sunday night. Everything in town was closed — we saw this place and curb appeal was low. Walked in and were seated on the cozy screened patio overlooking the water and ore dock– gorgeous. Food was amazing — best meal of our trip. Table of 6– we had wine, steak, filet, planked salmon and all of us loved our selections. Good for casual or special night out. We will be back next time we are in town.

We visited the Chop House and were met by an angry hostess(apparently having a personal bad day, from over hearing her on the cell phone) who simply pointed to the table where we should seat ourselves. This should haven been out first glue. Later we received a one and a half hour wait on a steak order with Au gratin potatoes. We were told the Au gratin potatoes caused the hold up. Yeah, odd but the Au gratin potatoes were cubed potatoes and melted butter, Really! I guess thinly sliced potatoes with onions cooked or baked with a topping of either browned bread crumbs and butter or grated cheese, or with both, isn’t in the cook book of there chef. Maybe that was the reason for the wait? Alicia, our server was great, kitchen and hostess reason for a single star. Total experience $ 264 perhaps our expectations we just to high?

Stopped in first time for dinner as my wife liked the place(she just has the salads). Nice atmosphere, good service, all in order. I ordered the 40 dollar NY strip. Expensive for me and for the UP. The thing about steak is the restaurant has to start with quality meat. It is impossible to make an average steak better. Quality meats are expensive. I happen to love a juice tender NY strip. They missed the mark as mine was dry and tough enough so that by the end of the meal my jaw ached. Sorry but that’s the way it was. They are skimping on quality and cutting corners where it counts(for them) and for that price it’s not acceptable.

This is an upscale restaurant with outstanding food, great service and a wonderful atmosphere. Steaks, chops, veal, seafood and plenty of wine and drinks. For a special occasion or a business dinner, I would strongly recommend the Chop House. It is located right on the main drag.

We’ve been meaning to try Elizabeth’s for a couple of years and finally went in today with friends to try their Restaurant Week $ 25 dinner. Got to say, we thought the whole experience was fabulous, from the décor, to the professionalism of the wait staff, to the menu choices, to the wine list and local beers on tap. The food was inspired, delicious, and presented beautifully. We had a lovely time and will be back often.

I stopped in for a solo dinner on a business trip. Began with a martini at the bar — grey goose for $ 10 — no complaints there, except the size of the drink could have been a little more generous. Overall the services great — attentive, friendly, competent. The disappointment arrived first as a ceasar salad, served in the oh-so trendy way of leaving the head of romaine intact, and drizzling the dressing over the top. As a dedicated caesar salad lover, I can’t stand this trend — and the head of lettuce itself was mostly the dark, dry, wilted outer leaves — no crunchy juicy heart on that plate :( This was followed by more disappointment in the form of house cut, 20oz prime rib. The portion size was nice, but the cut was very dry in the center, and very moist on the outer crust, well, lack of crust. It was served solo, sitting a lake of au jus — that the chef no doubt, hoped it would reabsorb. I have the suspicion that this piece of meat was cooked earlier in the week — that would explain both shortcomings. The side of brussels sprouts with bacon and mushroom — another swing, another miss. Though the dish did take me back to my childhood — they were just like mom used to make — over cooked, drained of any sense that they were once dense, crispy, flavorful little veggies. These were more the consistency of mushy breakfast cereal let to sit in the milk too long. The wine list was OK. Overall — left disappointed. I get the sense that they could do much better, if they can get the kitchen to raise the bar and meet the standard they seem to set in the front of the house.

14 oz aged ny strip was deliciousness from the start. Earthy flavor that only perfect aging and charing can deliver. Grilled asparagus coupled with a whisky old fashion is the bomb. Enjoy!

Had the Mother’s Day buffet Sunday. Outstanding! Everything was done to perfection, as if it was ordered off the menu. Always a lovely setting and you can even here the people you are sitting with. Just love this place

This was a fantastic restaurant. I started with crab cakes and raw oysters. Both were amazing. I was surprised how good the oysters were considering how far Marquette is from the ocean, but they were just as good as anything I have personally eaten out on the coast. For dinner I had the bone-in tenderloin which I have never seen on a menu before. Apparently there are only two of those cuts per steer. It was great! I can’t leave a review without talking about how great the service was! When we walked in someone was waiting there to open the front door for us and take our coats. Then we were seated and between the wait staff and bussers, our waters were never empty and plates were removed soon after we finished eating. Outstanding!
