Mai tais here will ruin Mai tais for you everywhere else. I definitely recommend making a trip here for a cocktail(or a few) on this beautiful beach even if you are not staying here, you will not be sorry! Also highly recommend lunch at the hau tree, always super delicious and quite possibly the best French fries anywhere. If you aren’t staying at the resort and want to have a beach day here, bring your own towels and chairs as the ones they have there are for resort guests. The left part of the beach is public though and still outstandingly beautiful

My newfound favorite drink was discovered right here at this bar: lava flow. A delicious blend of coconut pineapple and strawberry. I can’t even begin to express how yummy this thing is. Fiancée had himself a mai tai. All right before he decided to propose on the beach :) so this place now has a special place in my heart. Jacob is the coolest bartender ever and makes sure to give you a little extra extra. The bar is right on the most beautiful beach on the big island so it just does not get any better than that.

This is one of the best beaches on that coast, for sure. Gorgeous! Now about the bar… It looks out on said gorgeous beach. The drinks at this bar are super yummy(and go ahead and ignore the signs that say ‘No liquor beyond this point” because no one really enforces them, and it’s fun to sip your drink from a beach chair. The food was exceptionally mediocre and pricey, and there are very few vegetarian options. Go to the beach here, but eat at the Fairmont’s beach bar because it is yummy. In fact, my advice would be to always eat at the Fairmont unless you are at the Four Seasons, in which case, go back and forth.

I had lunch here with my family last week and it was so delicious! The service was exceptional and the food was memorably yummy. The beach was just beautiful and the people around were all so friendly. Highly recommended and will definitely return again.

Let me say that I dream of this place when I am away from it. It is one of my favorite places in the whole world– I may be a bit biased because our house is at the hotel, but it really is THE place to be on the Big Island. or anywhere for that matter. The beach is unbeatable, the liquor is STEE-RONG, the glasses are tall, the boys are sexy(the girls are too), the bodies are bronzed, oh and you’re in f*cking Hawaii… must I go on? The Frederico– a fruity, bourbon(JD) drink– love them, not too sweet and 2 will knock you on your ass… and that is a good thing of course. The Tropical Itch– if you’ve never had one, this is the way to go. kind of the«tourist that is very serious about drinking» drink… like a tropical Long Island + a 151 floater… 2 of these = making friends with EVERYONE at the bar. or the whole resort… and u get a back scratcher so it’s totally worth your dignity… and you can’t go wrong with the ol’ faithfuls… Pina Colada– coconut/pineapple rum drink, Lava Flow– same thing with strawberry purée swirled in(delicious, but sweet, and fun to look at), and last but certainly not least, the Mai Tai– pineapple rum drink… classic. Aloha to Jacob, Sheldon, Joanne, and Lito! damn near family at my home away from home, see you next week! :) oh yea, and ask Joanne what Lau Lau’s are…

This is the place on the Big Island for drinking, people. During our stay, me and my lovely luscious lady took in and took down a few truly memorable drinks and some over-the-top bar nibbles. Hers: Lava Flow: It must be had to be understood. Creamy, strawberry, alcoholic yum for her. Free Pineapple garnishes: Thanks, Sheldon and Lito. She raided both of your stashes for no charge. Classy! Mine: Pineapple with Rum and rum and a rum chaser: It was a slight nod to tropical, big wave to drinkingness. ‘Nuff said Cheap, delicious Maui-style potato chips: Took the bulk home with me. This is a great place with occasional surf and you can get there without staying at the attached resort, from which I have also detached the bar for this review. Props to my new«bruddas» Lito and Sheldon for their service and smiles. Much aloha spirit, for sure. They work the day shift. Tip them well. The prices are not cheap, but not outrageous, either.
