Haven Massage and Esthetics Studio

I was visiting from out of town and wrenched something under my shoulder blade. I was in debilitating pain that wouldn’t go away. After 4 days I booked a massage here with Misty. She performed a miracle. A chiro could not help me the day before. Misty employed a special technique called NMT (neuro muscular therapy) to manipulate the muscle under my scapula. She took the pain totally away while i was on the table and thereafter it was halved, even after leaving. Much better the next day too. She told me she was one of only a couple therapists in Louisiana who performed NMT and at the time I thought, «I’m already here, you dont need to sell me.» But she was a true professional. Her deep tissue therapy was not painful or uncomfortable as other deep tissue treatments can be, but it had just as high a therapeutic effect. I wish she would move to San Diego so she could be my regular therapist.

I’ve been to several spas in the area over the years and recently tried out Haven — mainly because I had a pinched nerve in my shoulder and one of the massage therapists, Misty recommended that I try massage to help work it out and relieve the pain. In the past, I had only had massages for relaxation and stress relief and not as a type of therapy/​treatment for specific pain, so I wasn’t sure if it would work.
First of all, I need to compliment Misty Burns. You can tell that she really knows her stuff! She’s not just doing a generic rubdown. She’s very knowledgeable about the human body and she spent great effort and care to really help alleviate my pain and not do anything to add to it. She even used some of the terminology that my doctor used to discuss my case, which surprised me. She was thorough and clear that it was not a medical alternative but worked nicely in conjunction to the medications and medical treatment I was already receiving. I went two weeks in a row just for work on my shoulder/​neck/​back area for the pain and combined with the medications, it really helped.
I have since then been back just for an enjoyable full body relaxation massage and of course thoroughly enjoyed that experience as well. I loved that Misty added in just a little bit of hot stone work into my massage. That was a nice touch and a pleasant surprise, as was the heated table when it’s a bit chilly outside.
The location is a bit small and kind of hidden among the other businesses on the very busy road. It’s also tucked away in the back of the courtyard of the building they are in. So you do have to keep your eyes out for it or you could easily pass it up. It’s definitely worth discovering — and ask for Misty!

Haven is the best! I have been going to them for years! Everyone is so nice and sweet. Love Jenny with my massages and Katie and Nikki for facials. I have spoiled my husband Gip and my daughter Maitlyn and now they always want to go. If anybody would asked me the best place in the world to go, well you know my answer. HAVEN!!! I was finally able to stalk Nikki my all time favorite esthetician at this location. It had been years since I had last seen her and yet she remembered my skin and was able to take care of me like no time had passed. She is the best for facials.
As for the space, it’s interesting. It’s in a slightly rundown 1950s era building that is «features an open courtyard, with abundant parking in the back. Haven is through the archway and is the 2^nd door on the left. The space is intimate and serene. They’ve done a nice job in small space. And the rooms are well appointed with everything you might need for your service.
They do not have a receptionist so if you’re too early for your appointment, you may have to wait in your car. The door is locked when everyone is with clients. 5 stars for Nikki; she is definitely worth my jaunt to the westbank. The space is more like a 3. So averaged out to a 4 stars.

I have been to Haven about 4 or 5 times & heading back again. I request Jenny as my masseuse & Nikki for facials. Both give an orgasmic experience. Please never leave. I have had hundreds of massages & my girls are the best. If I could afford to go multiple times a week I would. I leave very relaxed & not wanting to get off of the table. I always plan WAY ahead but the 2 times I called needing a fix quickly they never disappoint. My 1^st visit w/​Jenny I explained on my paperwork & requested tons of pressure. Just beat me. Jump on the table & dig your elbows in if need be. As I’ve explained I’m heading back soon for another visit & I know she will not disappoint me. I never fall asleep during the services because I want to experience the entire hour but it is so relaxing I have caught myself drifting off. I miss you girls. Can’t wait to see you. I’ve passed by this business for a while, so I finally decided to try them out. I called to make an appointment at the end of the day Friday, & they had availabilities the next day, which was great. When I arrived for my appointment, I was greeted very warmly by one of the masseuses. The setting was serene and beautiful. I opted for the Hot Stone Massage, and my masseuse explained exactly what she would do before we began. The massage was very relaxing, but I couldn’t help but feel a little distracted. First, I could hear a standing fan above the sound of the background music in the room. Then, my masseuse did not ask me about the amount of pressure she used on my body. While I don’t like a lot of small talk while I’m getting a massage, I would have liked the opportunity to tell her that I would have liked a little more pressure. Later, there were times when I felt cold during the massage. But in the end, the experience was really relaxing, which was just what I needed.
I talked to my masseuse for a little while afterward. This spa has been in business for about 2 years now. All of the staff are made up of masseuses who used to work at Spa Manhattan. They also offer monthly specials, including an August special for teachers. I encourage other West Bank residents to give Haven a try.
