This Walgreens itself is fine, the employees are pretty nice but the Take Care Clinic here was a complete sham! First of all I had no insurance since my job did not offer it so I figured this would be cheaper than going to a doctor’s office. My appointment was for 2:30 and I wasn’t seen until well after 4:30. There were only 3 or 4 chairs to wait in and that was definitely not enough for the combination of people waiting to see doctors and waiting for their prescriptions to be filled. Once I got inside I had a nurse practitioner who basically listened to me with a stethoscope then checked symptoms off of a list on the computer while she asked me questions one by one. If I tried to go into more detail she would get impatient, probably because she was so far behind. However, that’s not my fault, and I deserved my time in the office just like everyone else did. I was required to go to this doctor’s visit by my job at the time, because I had to have a note to go back to work. The np acted like I was an idiot for going to the doctor on the second day of a bad cold. Believe me lady, I surely didn’t want to come but I couldn’t afford to lose my job. After seeing online that the price of the visit would be 70, I was charged 95 for the visit and 150 for my medicine. I know that medicine is very expensive but considering that all she gave me was cough medicine was there not a cheaper option? If I would have known it was going to be that expensive I would have gone to a real doctor and not a nurse practitioner. What a sham!

This Walgreens has the Take Care Clinic — basically a walk-in clinic at the back of the store with a doctor on staff who can give vaccinations, examine you for minor illnesses, etc. It was my first time going to a Walgreens Clinic. However, after researching it online, it seemed the $ 70 fee for an exam was probably cheaper than paying out of pocket for any other walk-in clinic. I love that they have a check-in kiosk instead of a receptionist. Yes, some people won’t like it because they prefer human interaction… I’m perfectly fine with entering my name, date of birth, etc. on a computer myself. The doctor was friendly and easy to understand. He explained everything in normal, non-jargon filled english, for those of us who haven’t attended medical school. All in all, it was a pleasant experience(at least, pleasant for a trip to the doctors office). Best part? I was able to get some necessary items while I was there, like toothpaste and cough drops. Can’t do that at a normal doctor’s office, can you? ;)
