Driving by and stopped for lunch. What a great place for lunch. We had the dry Ridge chicken sandwich and the beef brisket sandwich both were awesome. Nice bar for the evenings as I hang out.

Not what you’d expect — pleasantly surprised by the creative and delicious menu. Had a few wings which were done perfectly — nice and crispy, well sauced. The chipotle bbq sauce was great! I had the fried chicken sandwich — top of the sandwich menu. Incredible, different — loved it! My husband had brisket sandwich — also excellent. Our server was very friendly and helpful — made our dining experience all the more enjoyable. Highly recommend.

My husband is a major burger connoisseur. States their burgers are up there with the best. He was completely satisfied with everything about it. The brisket was tender and smoky. Home made salads dressing superb. Service spectacular. If you are ever in this area you must stop!

If you’re ever in the area of Mars Hill, North Carolina, do yourself a favor and stop by the Stackhouse. It’ll be the best decision you make. If you want to talk about getting the most bang out of your buck, not only will a Stackhouse burger fit the bill, but I guarantee you will have one of the best custom made burgers you have ever had in your life. The pictures that are posted do not serve the burgers justice. All the ingredients are fresh. All produce is locally grown. The beer selection features the best breweries North Carolina has to offer. The wings are massive and flavorful. I recommend getting them covered in their beer-b-que sauce for a rich and tangy flavor. The onion rings are MASSIVE, crunchy, and delectable. Try them with the chipotle mayo sauce. As for burger choices, the Big Little Bro and the Mt. Mitchell are fantastic choices. If you’re feeling a chicken sandwich, the Dry Ridge is delicious and filling. Hands down, the Stackhouse is the BEST restaurant in the area and you would be doing yourself a disservice if you don’t take the time to grab a burger and a beer while in Mars Hill.

The first time I came here, I had ordered takeout. They said it would be 30 minutes until it was done, and when I had gone to pick it up, I had to wait another 30 minutes for my food. While I was waiting, I was discriminated because of my young age and not treated the same as the other customers. I had gotten their wings and they were not what I expected at all. The wings tasted horrible. The sauce was nasty. The wings were really small in size and could not fill me up. They use big boxes for something small, which got my hopes up. Prices are really high too. Very disappointed.

What a pleasant surprise! Right here close by. Lovely Hot Springs Chicken sandwich with a very nice spring mix salad. Hubby had the brisket sandwich And it definitely met his approval. As did the beer selection which, surprisingly, was Foothills Sexual Chocolate. Hubby was very pleasedEven a Malbec as a by the glass wine selection. Desserts from Geraldine’s-nice! Take the quick trip to Mars Hill from the hustle and bustle of Asheville and try it!

I never give 5 stars. Never. So what happened today? Stack House. Stop reading reviews. Just go. Go and get appetizers — like the Cajun dry run chicken wings or fried pickles or onion rings. All excellent. Go. Get the French Broad burger. Get a local beer on tap. Just go. OK. Don’t believe me. Check out the photo of the burger they just served me. HOUSE made mustard. Caramelized onions. Mushrooms. Awesome. and to top it all off, the people were actually NICE! On second thought — don’t go. I don’t want to have to fight for a seat the next time I come…

The best burger in Asheville is in Mars Hill. So juicy, tasty with a good variety of toppings. The place has a small selection of beers and a few appetizers but the stars are the burgers. Service was friendly and the place has a nice casual vibe. My burger was perfectly cooked and I chose the sweet potato fries and they were really good too.

Very solid burger joint. Decent selection of local craft beers on tap. Burgers can get pricey when adding a lot of extras. Definitely one of the few cool hangouts in Mars Hill. The pimento cheese is awesome.

This place is awesome!!! We had their signature burgers and it was and local wine and beer. The brisket was the best I’ve had in years and their fried pickles different but yummy. It’s a must stop and eat place if you are visiting. If I lived here I’ll be here at least once a week.:):) Atmosphere relaxing and fun.

This was one of the best burger joints I’ve found so far, easily stacking up against the competition. Diners can choose from one of several popular burgers, or create their own from the bun up. Along with a large selection of sides, salad, and a kids’ menu this place is stacked for any type of visitor. I took a day trip with the grandmother and her two friends, driving them along a scenic route to Mars Hill just so we could eat here. It was the lunch hour on a Wednesday and, as I expected, there was not a seat to be found. The locals from Mars Hill University and nearby towns love coming here, so we had to wait about 10 minutes to get a table. Once we sat down our waitress was friendly and prompt, getting us some drinks before we knew we were thirsty. She explained how the menu worked: choose a «House Stack» with a list of the ingredients, or create our own«Stack» from the bun up. You can choose from one of five types of buns, 6 types of meat or a veggie burger, pimento cheese, or a grilled cheese, toppings, and sauces. Loving spicy food as I do, I created the ultimate Death by Burger(patent pending): country white buns, double burger, pepper jack cheese, jalapenos, chipotle mayo, and their famous Death By-Q sauce. The burger was well cooked, but still a little pink in places. The buns were soft and fresh. But the pepper jack cheese and jalapenos got on their knees and bowed to the spicy sauce that left me with several tears streaming down my face. It was an amazing burger and a fun meal to eat! Everyone enjoyed their meals, and the service was great. No one ran out of their drink, and special requests(mixing sweet and unsweetened tea 50⁄50) were granted immediately without a need to «check with the manager». Located just ten minutes off I-26, this hidden locally owned place is now on my list of restaurants to visit whenever I’m in the area.

Ok G.G. The pressure is on. Stopped by on our way home from the beach and was looking for a sit down place to eat. This came up as only or first 4 star plus place in the area and here we are after reading your review, hope your taste buds know good food! Ok so the verdict is in. The burger flavor rocks and the char flavor definitely compliments burger. That being said my burger could not have been more well done and that was the same all the way around the table. A bit of juice would have rocked this burger and really complimented the meal. Onion rings good but a bit bland but sweet potato fries did meet the bill. I would come back but would have to ask them to pull back a bit on the doneness of the burgers a must!!! Service was very good and she had no hesitation making personal recommendations. Noting to wrong to rate 3 stars and just those few points would have given it a 5 without hesitation.

Tried this for the first time today with my Wife. We started with the spinach dip and that set the pace for the rest of the meal. This was one of the best creamiest warm comforting spinach dips I have had since I lived in NY back in the 1800’s. I even ate some on a cucumber slice and the mixture of flavors, tart, creamy, spinachy was very nice.(And I call cucumbers Pukecumbers cause I can’t eat them plain). Next came the main meal. My Wife ordered the Stack House Pulled Pork and I ordered a burger with the name The French Broad. They came served on what reminded me of a prospectors panning pan.(That seemed a bit redundant). Which was appropriate for the gold laying there waiting to be devoured. My burger was a 8.795 out of 10 and the Pulled pork was a solid 9.9842 out of 10. The sweet potato freedom fries… no… French Fries did not taste like some funky alien oil refinery coated sludge… they were GREAT. Seriously this place was very good and easily earned the 4 stars that are not easily earned from me. Have since been back a second time. This time I ordered the brisket. Yummy Yummy… the onion rings OMG they are amazing! UPDATE: There was a period of inconsistency here.(As I am now a regular). There were two times that we went in and were shocked… the buns were stale… the spinach dip watery with the signature smoked Gouda not put on. The onion rings were half the normal size… and I mean the normally tempura/beer batter style coating was more of a barely on there. The only thing we figured was that the normal Chef was not there and his back up was incompetent. Since that period everything seems to have gone back to normal. And as an fyi, I have eaten burgers from Maine to Florida,(a lot in NYC) and Vegas, and in the UK, and as a stack style burger these are really high up there on the burger meter exceeding some of the best in the grand olé USA. I amend my review to 4.5 stars.
