We came here while on business in Marshall. We ordered the goat cheese and bread in tomato based sauce. We loved it… the sauce had chunks of veggies in it. We also loved the bacon wrapped dates. We also enjoyed calamari. One of us got the home made ice cream which she wholeheartedly enjoyed. We order a gyro which was on the special board. It was OK, but I’d choose something else next time. Random observation… There seemed to be an unusual amount of mother /daughter gatherings during our visit. The service was attentive and friendly. We will come back next time we have a meeting in Marshall.

Thursday lunch special is quarter chicken with roasted potatoes and chorizo. The sausage is perfectly crispy on the outside! Moho sauce(tomato with a mild pepper flavor) is excellent on the chicken. Great choice, and the best 9.95 lunch ever!

Watch out for the added fee that they try to stick you for using a credit card. Will never eat here again.

Love this place. The food is great and the atmosphere is friendly and lively. Bacon wrapped dates are amazing. They have a couple of Dark Horse beers on tap.

I’ve been there a couple of times and the staff has been pleasant, the food is wonderful and the service has been great. I have never been to Spain so I don’t know about authentic but I do know good. I will be back.

Horrible. Terrible. This isn’t Spanish food and it’s definitely NOT tapas. A couple of us didn’t even get what we ordered. I lived in Spain and was JUST there in May; the paella didn’t have traditional ingredients– like saffron– and who puts garbanzo beans and red beans in paella??? Not to mention the«tortilla» was nothing more than an inflated omelet, and not even a good one. How sad. Don’t go.

Old school ambiance with mediocre tasting food. Portions were little too small for the price. They didn’t impress us at all. Probably will not go back.

The bacon wrapped dates & Sangria are delicious. I’m not a fan of the Filet Gorgonzola its overpowering

The interior was nicely decorated and had a good atmosphere. The service was fine. The food was a little disappointing though. The homemade chips were great, but a $ 3 appetizer shouldn’t be the highlight of the meal. The paella was the biggest disappointment of the night. This was the first time I have ever had paella with such a lack of flavor! The prices were fair, but the food could use some work at this price point.

My absolute favorite place in all of Marshall. Delicious food, great atmosphere, beautiful décor, and great service. The desserts are out of this world. Favorites are the filet Gorgonzola and the bacon wrapped dates. Everything is good, and so fun to share. All soups and salads delicious. The chef, Rick, is an amazing guy – you can spot him in the community theater doing plays sometimes. All around a great restaurant.

Very accommodating and friendly/attentive staff for our large party. Wine selection is good and portions are large. I ordered a pasta dish that was a tad salty(probably due to the huge amount of olives), but others at the table had great things to say about their meals.(I believe we all had pasta). I’ll be back if in the area again.

Just had a lovely dinner here, no real complaints. We had the baked goat cheese tapas, a classic and they did it right. I had the chorizo stuffed meatloaf, it was very tasty, flavorful and juicy, if the serving just a tad small. My daughter had a special: chicken with caper cream sauce and it came with some lightly sautéed spinach with tomato. It was juicy and flavorful. We finished with a piece of flourless chocolate cake. Quite good. All in all, an amazing meal considering the location. I would definitely go back. This has to be one of the best restaurants in the area. I’m reserving the last star for them to spruce up the décor. There were some unsightly Christmas lights and bad tulle, and some really bad fake flowers.

Just enjoyed a delightful lunch. Wine was delicious as was the soup. Broccoli-cheddar soup was so good that I had a second bowl. Steak and blue cheese wrap was exquisite. Ambience was much more than expected from the cloth napkins to the non standard restaurant flatware. Price was very reasonable and service was above expectations. We will return soon to try their evening menu. Thank you for being there. You really should give this wonderful restaurant a shot.

Seriously, who on earth opens a Spanish Tapas restaurant in a place like Marshall, Michigan? What were they smoking? Or maybe someone slipped something other than citrus spritzer into their sangria. Whatever the case, I’m damn glad they did, because this place is stinkin’ fantastic! It’s a lovely little storefront on the east end of town, looking like, well, pretty much nothing special from the outside. You actually enter a foyer through a 30’s era screen door, not necessarily what I’ve experienced in other tapas joints, as you might imagine. But once past the foyer, the place is pretty cool: High ceilings, exposed brick on one wall, lots of Spanish/Hispanic-themed art and decorations adorning the walls. Our waitress greeted us immediately after we set foot in the main dining area and seated us at a booth towards the front. The menu is, not to put too fine a point on it, HUGE. If one has never eaten tapas before, this may be overwhelming, but I loved it. If you can’t find something you like on this menu, you just don’t like food. Or eating. Or both. I was with my client, who’d never eaten Spanish cuisine before, so I ordered for both of us. We had the watermelon and feta salad, pomodoro basilico, calamari, and some sort of traditional Spanish potato dish with paprika. The watermelon/feta stuff was phenomenal: I’d never have thought of mixing those flavors, but it worked wonderfully — plus, it was prime watermelon season, so it’s hard to go wrong. Same with the tomato, mozzarella, and basil: It’s prime tomato season, so this was a no-brainer and Zarzuela’s execution of the classic was perfect. Well, maybe it could’ve used a bit more basil, but then, I like my basil more than the next guy. Calamari was great: Crispy little bits of succulent fried squid, light, not greasy, not too salty, with this great dipping sauce. The finishing bit were the potatoes: Our waitress said they were fried, then baked, then sprinkled with smoked paprika, cumin, and something else. My mouth is watering remembering how good they were. They too were accompanied by a mayonnaise-based sauce which was good. Another bonus, being a wine drinker, is the place has a VERY nice list of wines, with four or five reds and four or five whites, each available by the glass. The bottles are a nice selection of Spanish, Italian, and American, all reasonably priced. The bonus: The pours, at least mine, were quite generous, so you get what you pay for. We had wonderful experience, in marked contrast to so many of the reviews I’d read. It’s like I was at a different place. Irrespective, I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town.

Pricy sub par food. Disappointed every time we give it a chance. $ 6.00 hummus was served with stale bread. My husband ordered the special which said roasted red pepper, rice and vegetables served with marinara had frozen peas and corn. Mine was equal to an Olive Garden but definitely not special. To expensive for the low quality food. Bar was nice.

Visited Zaruela’s twice while on business in Marshall. The first time I followed Unilocal advice, and the 2nd time I had to return since my first experience was so good. All the food is delicious. The staff is great. and the Sangria is amazing! By far the best restaurant I’ve been to in Marshall. Would put it above Schulers, Dark Horse, Stage Coach, etc.
