We have gone here several times and enjoy the food, atmosphere and servers. At private parties, family dinners or just a quick afternoon lunch the quality is always great.

Went to the tavern for brunch and it was absolutely terrible. Everything was cold, not just room temperature, inedible cold. The piece of stuffed sole had 2 large bones in it. The coffee was put away before people were finished. It was definitely not worth the price. The only reason I’m giving 2 stars was because I attended a shower at the tavern once that was pretty well run with decent food. I won’t however return or recommend.

I wish I had read the review from Jean I 4 months ago, had I done so, I would have realized the service from the blond waitress working the bar cocktail area on Saturday nights was horrible– saving me from experiencing this firsthand. I can say for a fact, the service my husband and I received last night on 12/6, was the absolute worst we ever experienced in our lives. It began innocently enough, the bar was busy, so we opted for a high top table. Unfortunately, the air vent above the table was on and it was absolutely freezing. I had on a winter coat and was still cold, my husband switched seats with me. He is never cold and said that we needed to move. In the five to seven minutes this transpired no one came to our table. We moved to a different table, and about five minutes later our waitress appeared. Her greeting was, «Are you just having drinks?» We responded that we were there for dinner as well. She came over with one menu and tossed it on the table for the both of us. Mumbling something about them closing. We were sitting next to each other, and were fine with sharing the menu, but could’ve done without the comment. I wondered, had we been sitting across from each other would she have expected us to share the menu as well? She asked us what we wanted to drink, to which we asked for a drink menu– we love to sample the seasonal items. Her response-A sour face… When she came back to take our order, I asked if there were any specials. She mumbled again, this time something about she wasn’t sure what was available. I’m not sure if the kitchen was closing, it was 9:30PM on a Saturday night. Having been in the service industry for 20 years, I always check the establishments website to make sure I’m not coming in to order within 15 minutes of closing time. We ordered the chopped salad with steak tips, a cheese pizza, and mini sliders. Oddly the pizza arrived first, with a statement the other food would be right out. The other food arrived about five minutes later. From the time it took to get our drinks and the time it took to get the food, about 20 minutes elapsed. The waitress never came back to our table. The food was decent, steak tips cooked as requested. The chopped salad wasn’t exactly chopped, but no big deal I had a knife. Speaking of the knife, when the food was placed on the table, the knife was pointed directly at me and came within 2 inches of my chest. As we ate our food for about the next 20 minutes, the waitress never came back to check on us. We would have ordered another round of drinks, increasing the tab by about $ 20– but we didn’t have another 20 minutes to wait for them. We joked that we could leave and she would never even notice, and wondered how many people did. We saw tables come and go, sitting there without any kind of service. A table beside us must’ve sat there for 15 minutes without anyone coming to the table. They gave up and went to the bar. The bartenders were probably happy, because everybody kept going to the bar to get their drinks. The bartender that helped me get a to go container for my food as well as put out an APB on our waitress, was very nice. I’m not really sure how a server that clearly hates her job and thinks that customers are an inconvenience can be allowed to work as she has. Either the owner and manager don’t know, or they simply don’t care. Based on this review they should be well aware of their server attitude. If they simply don’t care, I have to wonder if their lack of caring will affect other aspects of the business in the future. .

My 4 siblings and I recently hosted our mothers 90th birthday celebration in The Marshfield Tavern function room, The Webster Room. It was the most pleasurable, easiest party I ever been involved in planning. Due in large part to their function manager Patty. She made everything a breeze. The day of the party couldn’t not have been more perfect. The room looked beautiful and Patty with her assistant Sharon kept everything running smoothly and on time. We didn’t lift a finger or worry about a thing. The buffet meal was beautifully presented and delicious! I would not hesitate to plan any event at this venue.

It’s not a bad bar. Actually one of the better places to watch sports. The TVs are placed in good locations. They’ve got one of the only outdoor bars I’ve seen in the area. Aside from the pizza, there’s not much in the way of decent food. They’ve got all the basics, but nothing very good. When the place first opened, the food was great, but they must have lost their chef. Another thing that’s been changing is that they used to have a knack for hiring fun and friendly bar staff who at least *seemed* happy to see returning customers, but slowly they’ve all left and have been replaced with lackluster people who look like they’d rather be doing anything else than tending bar.

Awful waitress(the older blonde thin one), was there last night 7÷25÷15 about 7ish. The waitress was impatient and angry making awful faces at us when we asked for anything. I got a bug in my drink and i was more offended by the waitresses actions. she made it VERYCLEAR she did not feel like working, we felt like we were a burden to her. I stopped and told the hostess how rude she was, and had her come out to see that none of the empty plates were removed from our table, instead we stacked them out of our way when we were done. She avoided our table and that was just as well! I won’t be returning and neither will my family and friends. Today i went to Family day at at Daniel Websters and there was a table with chilli that was from the Tavern, um no thanks. I got into a conversation with the volunteer serving the chilli and she said said she had several very similar experiences there and no longer would go. She did tell me of a few other places that appreciated the the customers.

The food was not good at all but the outdoor atmosphere was very nice(the indoor dining looked slightly upscale as well). I’d go back for outdoor drinks and maybe an inexpensive pizza or appetizer but the quality of everything else was majorly lacking. For an even better atmosphere I’d spend the extra 10 mins to drive down toward Brant Rock(and get the same overpriced subpar quality of food unfortunately). If they hired a great chef this place would have a TON of potential.

I have yet to get a meal I really liked, food quality and preparation is poor, except the pizza which is not a bad bar style pizza… otherwise they make a good drink and the outside bar is a nice change to inside

Food is delicious but if you have Hope for a waitress… good luck to you. She turned a quick dinner into a hours long experience. When we walked in we were greeted mediocrely by hostesses, not rude but certainly not overly friendly. After we were seating it took at least 15 minutes for our drinks to be brought over and another 30 minutes to for our order to be taken. We had to get her attention so we could place our order, which she rudely rolled her eyes and said she’d be there in a moment. While ordering, I asked what vegetables they had… she told me to look on the menu. When I couldn’t find where they were listed, she acted annoyed and pointed out an ENTRE that came with fried green beans, not a list of vegetables. I opted out. Once we got our food, which again was delicious, she forgot to bring us extra plates(we stated were splitting meals), dressing for salads, and butter for potato. Not a big deal, until we had to ask a three times and then finally were taken care of by a food runner. She never returned to see how our meal was or to ask if we wanted a second beverage. Once we finished our meal, we had to ask three separate times for our check. The atmosphere was excellent, as was the cuisine, but will make sure we do not dine with Hope as our server again. Unnecessarily rude.

Very disappointed in my visit. I will say that I was surprised that at 6:20 on a Friday evening I was sat immediately with only 4 other tables occupied. We ordered the Fried Macaroni and Cheese ball appetizer, only to find out that they had already ran out of it. The wait staff was dressed very sloppily with untucked clothing and faded and worn out green shirts. The bus boy/food runner was wearing shorts. Our meals were mediocre and I had to ask our server to light our candle on the table when we sat down. This took over 10 minutes to happen and she was quite put off by the request. All in all I would say that it’s highly doubtful we will ever return there.

I had my unofficial work Christmas party here and I must say, I thought it was a great venue! For food we just got pizzas and calzones, simple I know, but they were good. No complaints out of me. We had the semi-private room towards the back. It was spacious and on the classy side. I approve. Wait staff was awesome! They were always right there when I needed a drink. I wish I could remember my favorite’s name, Mary or Patty, I’m not sure I was calling her Mary-Patty to cover my bases. You go Mary-Patty! Great job! I’ve heard a lot of bad things about this place. I can’t really comment on a dinner experience, maybe that would be different, but as for the night I was there, I thought it was great!

Wanted to love it. The Tavern looks great, it’s clean and new. Here are the problems… service is incredibly and undeniably slow and the food is just mediocre. I’ve been twice. Did I say the service is slow? No more.

My two friends and I had Hope as a server. She was rude the entire time to us and her attitude was completely unnecessary. We were nothing but polite to her but she was nothing but miserable in return. So as a result, we left her a bad tip. As we were leaving, she was standing at the front desk talking about us and then took down my friends plate number as we drove away. Her actions were completely inappropriate and uncalled for. All three of us work in restaurants but none of us would ever give such bad service to a paying customer. She did not deserve 20%.

This a fair place to eat. We ate there because it was close to Fourth Cliffs where we were staying. Avoid the stuffed lobster. priced too high and NOT good. Being from VA we have learned New Englanders do not know how to cook with crab. The stuffing was a mealy bread, Stove Top type. crab? We couldn’t find any. The scallop that came with it was good, but the whole lobster was overcooked, we’d go back but we’ll keep it simple.

I’m done with this place. The lobster roll will turn your stomach. Half the meat is real lobster and the rest is filled with some type of imitation lobster meat. It is truly gross. The food there is not good. Since they have opened I tried eating there several times. I kept trying to give them another chance hoping somehow the food would get better. Shame on me because it has only gotten worse. Do not eat there. The food is not good and the lobster roll is truly revolting. It’s really too bad because there is no good food in the entire town.

cheese & crackers, Two salads, two entrees, two dessert, a bottle of wine, POPOVERS(love them). $ 35 bucks. Not a bad deal. The place has a sort of club house feel(as if it were part of a golf course or something). It’s uncluttered and simple inside. The food was both tasty and a good sized portion. We ate here in the dead of winter but it looks as if the outside has a patio or perhaps outside dining. It seems well suited to the woofs(well off old folks) who live in the area. If you live in the area, I’d say it’s a good alternative to places the 99.

I had my bridal shower here and the food was excellent. The waitresses were friendly and the venue was pretty nice. I’ve also come to the bar a couple times, and it was also nice. Bartenders were friendly and fast.

I’ve eaten here many times and have always had a positive experience. Love the fact their specials are always different(some places the specials aren’t so special). Food quality has been good on each of the 8 times I have dined here. Waitresses are very friendly to the point me and my kids know a few by name and any minor issues we have had they deal with quickly. Good family place.
