Haven’t had any issues with using them. Their staff seems friendly and always answer questions honestly and correctly. It’s single stream recycling now, so there are no issues with restrictions other than the normal chemical restrictions seen elsewhere.

The volume of recyclable refuse to non-recyclable refuse in our home runs about ½. That’s really not a lot — some super-green people boast 2⁄1 or 3⁄1 ratios. I get the impression that the mainstay of Macomber’s business is absentee landlords providing trash service for their summer rental homes. And for that purpose, perhaps Macomber’s is just fine — renters probably don’t focus on recycling and Macomber’s does a good job with trash pickup. It does a really good job with trash pickup, no question. However, Macomber’s make it hard to recycle with weird and conflicting restrictions of what the company wants separated and what it won’t handle at all. Because it’s frankly easier(not to mention cheaper), we’re going to terminate our service with Macomber’s and just drive our trash and recycling to the town transfer station. In short, if recycling is a priority for you, avoid Macomber’s.
