I stumbled upon this place on my way home from work. I was in a rush ready to get home but starving for something to eat. I pulled out my handy dandy Unilocal app and this place popped up, I’ll try anything once! When I entered through the door I was greeted by Susan, she is a lovely women, very kind and open minded. I stumbled upon her while she was creating a new dish«The Mediterranean Singing Shrimp,» which might I say was great. I had a sample of the dish that was prepared prior to me entering and it was great. After I tasted the rough draft, the chef asked me how it taste, I picked the food apart(in a good way), we discussed ways to improve the dish. The rest is history. The presentation of the dish was pleasant, not only was the final draft a new experience to my taste buds, but the experience was on that I will never forget. The process she take to prepare the food is appreciated. She made a salad, which was made with a sauce she has crafted her self. It’s made with organic ingredients. When I finished my meal I was not weighted down or miserable. I enjoyed the experience and will recommend this place to anyone. She has specials that are more than affordable for any budget. I love this place

Good traditional food. Not your common pita/gyro menu. Well prepared dishes. Casual with friendly staff.

This has to be the best Mediterranean food in our area. Excellent food & service. Fresh and filling. You will not leave this place hungry. You need to go and experience it for yourself. Awesome.

This place was absolutely fantastic!!! The food was amazingly delicious and fresh. I ordered the lamb kabob and it was cooked to perfection and so flavorful. The hospitality and customer service was the best in Augusta during my time visiting. Definitely recommend!

Everyone was raving about the salad dressing so I was sure to get a side salad. Turns out Unilocal was right in that the salad dressing is very good. I ordered a falafel wrap and was really blown away by how soft and well seasoned the falafel was-not dry at all! I’ll definitely be back for more of that. The atmosphere was a little off, I went for lunch on a weekday so it was a little dead inside and awkward, and like most of Augusta, it just didn’t seem well put together. But I’d be down for takeout anytime here. It seems that their actual Mediterranean food here is the star, so even if gyro wraps and fries are on the menu together as the obligatory offering, go for a side salad instead of fries to spare yourself joining the slew of reviewers criticising a Greek restaurant for having poor fries, or any other American based cuisine.

Disappointment. My husband and I came here for lunch b/c we were craving some Mediterranean cusine and this place had good reviews. Boy I don’t know what they put in some of these other reviewers food but our food was not GOOD at all. This was the laziest, poorly thrown together, cheap Mediterranean food that we have ever had. The pita bread was super thin and cheap. Tasted like it was bought from the«needs to go» sales shelf from a grocery store. The hummus was horrible. It was obviously made from powder and water; the texture was like dry paste. The fries and rice were the only decent items. We got a gyro wrap which had more pita than filling and we also ordered the Mediterranean gyro which was the worst of all. It was nearly double the price of a gyro wrap $ 15 versus $ 7. Expecting some authenticity we were let down. Half the plate was rice topped with old, dry, and salty beef and lamb. The rest of the plate had a tini bowl of tzaziki sauce, a thin slice of tomatoe, a pinch of pickled onions, a sad piece of bell pepper, and last but not least 2 triangle slices of the same old pita bread. We will not come here again. If we want gyros or Mediterranean food we will look some where else. On the plus side, our service was good and the waitress was timely. On a small note, we weren’t sure if the air conditioning was broken but it was pretty humid and stuffy inside the restaurant :/ If u decide to go here I hope that you have a much better experience. My advice got to pita pit for a quick gyro wrap or head down Washington to find another joint.

Service was very good however the food left a lot to be desired. We were only the 2nd table in the entire restaurant on a Wednesday evening at 6:30. My draft beer was flat & my husband’s pizza tastes like a frozen Totinos pizza. I had the chicken gyro wrap which was just ok. We probably wouldn’t come back here again. Disappointed.

I enjoyed my lunch — grape leaves were delicious. The gyro meat was moist but I like a little char to let me know it was fresh and this had none of that. I 100% loved my lunch but the pita bread needs an upgrade. Deserves a fluffy warm, fresh pita to accompany the meal versus the flat, thin bread they use.

We ordered simple things. Gyro wrap, hummus and a Caesar salad. It took 20 minutes for hummus to out. Then at 30 minutes we walked out. We offered to pay for our bill but the owner was nice enough to apologize for the delay and let us out without paying for the hummus. On our way out we were told their cook was a no-show that day. Too bad. The restaurant was packed.

This place is fantastic! The people working were very nice. Nice family run place. It was raining and the place was empty the day we came. We ordered the sampler platter and everything on it was great. The spices they used were perfect. We decided to try the Greek beer while we waited for our take out. The lady also gave our son a free soda while we were waiting which was very nice. Once again everything was excellent. Rice, gyro meat chicken lamb. There was nothing that wasn’t great.

BLUF: Food was okay, service was friendly. Definitely good for a quick cheap bite, but don’t expect too much. Had the falafel wrap and another wrap, both of which were tasty and came with a side of fries. Not particularly good in any remarkable way, but tasty enough for me to give this place a three-star rating. Service was friendly, but not super special.

The food is exceptionally fresh. No steps are skipped in delivering the tastiest meal possible. For example, I ordered 3 gyro wraps so they needed to use a new cone of gyro meat in order to fill my order. Instead of using the first layer, they wasted it in order to make certain that our food was as fresh as possible. The portions are ample and served with a smile by Susan, the owner. The menu includes classic Greek dishes, along with Italian and American fare. We had gyro wraps and a side Greek salad. The gyro was bursting with flavor and had a generous helping of trading sauce on it and was wrapped in a nice fresh pita.

Finally! A delicious and *affordable* Greek restaurant! My wife and I dined here over the weekend and tried many dishes. We started with the fried feta and tzatziki. We loved the fried feta and recommend you ask for more cherry tomatoes with this dish. I had the Mediterranean salad with gyro meat and my wife had the falafel wrap. Both were fantastic. The portions are very generous. We also loved their grape leaves. We will definitely return and introduce this restaurant to our vegetarian friends in town as well as there are many options for them.

The food could not have been better. The service was beyond phenomenal and the owner is a wonderfully blessed lady. That baklava was the single most hands down best dessert to top off my meal. And the price is very manageable. Especially for the quality I will be going back.

Small businesses strike again! I would have never, ever heard of or seen this place if it weren’t for the fabulous reviews on Unilocal. For Augusta standards, and even big metropolitan areas, this gem of a place is a hit! Restaurant/décor: Probably the only thing I can really complain about is that the restaurant itself looks a bit… old, outdated, and gives off a strange vibe. Its a huge, huge space, but it looks like chairs and tables in an abandoned bar. There is indeed a bar in the back, but the big lighted beer signs and the bad lighting make the eating experience here a bit odd. However, they do have very relaxing and interesting Italian sounding music. Service: love the owner here. She was so sweet. The chef brought out our food and he was even wearing a chef’s hat! Food: I sat behind this old couple, probably in their 70’s, and the husband literally could not contain his joy for this food. The entire time I dined there, he could be heard audibly groaning LOUDLY, about the salad and gyro he was enjoying. Hilarious. The bf and I each enjoyed the gyro — which comes with either a side of french fries(not special) or a side salad. The side salad is actually a huge Greek salad with the most delicious dressing I’ve had in a while. I would order this on its own! Definitely get this over the french fries. The gyro was HUGE — it was loaded with meat and veggies and tzatzkiki sauce. It was amazing — the only complaint I might have is that the sauce had a bit too much dill in it. Other than that, no complaints. At under $ 8 each for this meal, it’s a great deal in Augusta. Probably one of the best restaurants if not the best I’ve had during my visits to this city. Best Bites also does fundraisers and caters, too, if you are interested.

Wonderful restaurant! Our family decided, since the Greek festival is this weekend, to introduce our children to it. To make sure they like the food prior to going and to enjoy a nice night out. We ordered quite a bit of food, 3 appetizers, an entrée each, and baklava. Not only was the staff friendly, the atmosphere quiet with the soft touch of Mediterranean music in the background, but the food was delicious! The Calzones were almost literally the size of footballs, the Falafel was fresh and soft, and the baklava even had a bit of really good vanilla ice cream in center of 4 pieces. The only reason I am giving this restaurant a 4 star review is because with only one host/waiter times between ordering or getting drink refills or paying our check could be pretty long.

This is one of the few good Mediterranean places in town, and the folks who work here are wonderfully friendly and helpful. The gyro platter, kofta platter, and borek rolls were absolutely delicious. I’d intended to save half my order for a later meal, but I wolfed the entire plate down. There are only a few things I think they should try to improve on. For starters, my kids were disappointed that they didn’t offer kids meal sized offerings of the mediterranean dishes. The kids menu only consisted of burgers, grilled cheese, and the usual fare, and my son REALLY wanted his own kofta. They need some music or something playing in the background, too. When we got there, we were the only people in the building, and it was creepy quiet. We’ll definitely be back here when the family gets an itch for Mediterranean.

Best Bites is not off the beaten path, but if you blink, you’ll miss it. After, you discover the location; it’s all uphill from there. A friend and I dropped by on a weekday and decided to dine at the bar. First off, the welcome was nice and inviting. The restaurant is family owned and you can tell right away. The bar was not packed so, we had the bartender’s undivided attention. She was awesome. Her service was superb. She checked on us often, but not in an annoying way. I wasn’t in the mood for a big meal, so I had the hummus and Falafel, which was great. I also had a few of my favorite cocktails. The atmosphere is really chill. The restaurant is spacious and very clean. They even had a Karaōke machine. I may put that on the to-do list for future visits. I plan to bring my appetite on the next visit. Best Bites has authentic Mediterranean food and I must fully experience it. This is a great place for groups because of the space. One of the owners came by to say hello and she was very nice. I’ll be back for round two!

I kept coming back over and over to this place because they had gyros and ’cause I try to keep it local when possible. But after my last takeout from this place, I can confidently put this restaurant in my list of «never again.» I was probably their only takeout customer for the day every single time as well. The lights are never on, there’s no music on and there’s a real creepy vibe going on. I’ve yet to have a consistent wrap at this place. Or price for that matter. I regularly would order a gyro wrap or a gyro platter and there would be times that there was no cucumber in the wrap, or too much mint in the tzatsiki sauce or no tomato or onion when there was an abundance just two days before. I decided to try something different this last time and took a chance on a falafel wrap. My fondest memory of fried chick peas were learning to scoop and shape them with my girlfriends in their grandfathers restaurant and I could feel my mouth water as I drove home. I had visions of aromatic goodness and that wonderful crunchy bite and my stomach grumbled terribly but I prevailed did not eat it in the car. The falafel wrap was the worst meal I’ve had in Augusta yet. And there really was no place that held that honor but most certainly is now. The wrap had no flavor to it unfortunately and was so try, I had to drown it in the tzatziki sauce they charged me for. First of all, I asked for tahini sauce. And there was tzatziki sauce in the falafel sandwich so maybe that’s how they do it. Second-they charge $ 1 for a 2 oz. Solo cup that isn’t even the correct sauce, adding insult to injury. Speaking of sauce, I asked if they had any sort of hot sauce but was told no. Lo and behold, I see a gallon of it in the kitchen right by the door… Hmmm… And the falafels had no trace of green to them, weren’t the correct shape and had the wrong consistency altogether. It gave me a stomach ache which tells me there was some sort of flour filler as I didn’t eat any of the pita and I have a wheat issue. And in the end, I’m down $ 20 for 6 bites of «falafel» and 3 strips of gyro meat that was decent at best and the only gyro I know of in Martinez. My stomach hurt and I was terribly let down. But at least I know better now and I’ll avoid this place like many people already do. I don’t see how it has 30 positive reviews but then again, most of these people have just one review under their belt so I’ll start screening my Unilocal visits again thanks to this place. 2⁄2014
