Did a quick run through the drive through. Service was quick, ordering fairly easy. The menu wasn’t to cluttered and print was large so my old eyes could read it. It was just after lunchtime and their parking lot was packed, always a good sign. Ordered the 2 original burgers(on sale) and fries. The burger was good, tasted home made and like it was off the grill, Duh Kurt, it is called embers. The bun was a little dried out but still overall a good burger. The fries were very good, with a good color and crunch. I will try this place again when I am not in such a hurry.

Second time here. Unfortunately the girl was more into my accent than getting the order correct. When I got back to the office instead of an original burger all the way, I in fact had a cheeseburger with nothing on it !!! Shame as that’s not really what I wanted.

Decent burger & fries for a good price. Dining area was clean and the staff was quick, efficient and very friendly. Single burger was similar in serving size as a 5guys double and tasted like a standard burger. Fries were thick cut and cooked well — crisp outside, soft inside, but weren’t seasoned or salted. Good value for the $ overall, especially if you’re stopping for gas anyways! I did ring the bell on my way out.

I have visited this restaurant more times than I care to admit. My picture is on the wall several times for conquering the massive Triple Challenge, and I even wound up in the Augusta Chronicle’s write up on the restaurant — which is proudly displayed on the front counter for all to see. The service is outstanding, every one from the cook to the lady taking the order is proactive in making sure every visit is a good one. Service with a smile and laughter — tough to find these days. Yeah, it is attached to a gas station — but if you are hungry and have a huge appetite — it is tough to beat the amount of food for the dollar here. NEVER left here hungry… ever.

AMBIENCE — B+ SERVICE — A FOOD — B+ PRICE — A+ AMBIENCE — B+ — clean and bright! Ok — it’s a burger place attached to a gas station convenience store on the end of a busy highway — Riverwatch! SERVICE — A — The cashier greeted and let me know that he would get to me as soon as he was done with a «drive through» order. I also like that the sous cook came around to also help out. That’s good customer service. They were knowledgeable about their menu and recommended what they liked to eat. Also, when the counter /servers /cooks weren’t busy — they came out to greet the guests sitting in the overly bright dining area and double checked on how the food was and if anything was needed. Very nice touch for this hamburger joint which gets flack and jokes about being attached to a gas station. FOOD — B+ — I’ll assume the burgers were processed and not handpicked… they were just to perfectly sized for the bun. The veggies — lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles were nice and crispy… they also add mayo, ketchup and mustard. I opted to leave off ketchup as it sounded as the burger is just slathered in sauces. The handcut fries tasted great, are thick cut — crispy on outside and soft on the inside– however, i also ordered the special chili jalepeno cheese fries which made the crispy fries soggy… also, I’m not a fan of canned tasting ground up meat chili… PRICE — A+ — eventhough the original single patty burger is $ 3.69… they run a daily special 2 Burgers for $ 5! What a great deal Also, if you’re able to score an Augusta Daily Deal — $ 5 for $ 10… then you get an even better deal for eating here! If one can look past the idea they’ve driven to a gas station to sit down for a burger/take out/or drive through… it’s pretty decent eating… and I would eat here again!

This was a Backyard Burgers place and as Steve G. pointed out the location may throw you off. The hamburgers were really good and the hand dipped onion rings were outstanding! We ordered to go and didn’t check our order until we got home and they forgot to put bacon on our Bacon Cheeseburger. We had also intended on using our Groupon coupon and wanted to buy some friend shrimp to eat for dinner the next day. They were out of shrimp at 5:30p. How can you let that happen? Would have loved to have found a menu online but their website listed on their Facebook page didn’t work. They did have a photo of their Combo selections on Facebook. I’ll give them another chance and update my rating if they improve.

I saw a rave review on this place in the Augusta Chronicle’s Applause section and gave it a try. It’s not at all promising on the outside — it’s attached to a gas station/convenience store, for pete’s sake. Or on the inside, where the ordinariness continues unabated. But wow, those burgers and fries! The fries remind me of my all-time favorites(Mama Berardi’s, at the Cedar Point Amusement Park many years ago). Crunchy outside, soft on the inside. And the blue cheese/bacon burger — that night’s special — was just plain delicious. Fresh, tasty beef, flame broiled, every bite a treat. And this big, heaping basket of food, with a 20-oz. drink, was under $ 6. Tonight I tried their made-on-the-premises peanut butter pie($ 2.99). It was one of the best desserts I’ve had in a long time. It would not have been out of place in a top-rated gourmet restaurant. So don’t let the looks fool you — this place is a hidden jewel!
