I lost my nerve after a bad fall. I tried several different trainers, who only made it worse. I was on the verge of giving up on riding when I found Marguerite. She is a miracle worker! She is a knowledgeable trainer with years of proven experience in and outside of the show ring. She has a barn full of well trained safe lesson horses, and the kindest students on the planet of all ages, goals and abilities. The barn is more like a family than a barn. But most of all she knows and understands people and how to coach them to succeed in pursuing their goals. Within a gear she had me jumping 2.6 confidently and loving it!!!

Marguerite Barrier is an incredible trainer. She shares with her students practical«in the moment» advice on how to work with their horse and achieve skills that lead to successful communication. When training in the arena, her focus and ability to see what you are doing and why you are, or are not, getting the results you want are timely and on the spot. Her directions are clear and she will repeat them adamantly until you get it! Marguerite is always spot-on with her observations and is patient in working with you until you get your body to follow her instructions, then there’s that awesome«ah-hah!» moment both student and trainer and even horse all get to share with a group of supportive and team-minded students cheering you on(literally)! Training at Star Canyon Ranch, where Midnight Blue and Co. is located, has made a huge difference in my riding abilities and the atmosphere at this barn made me want to stay and be a part of the community. The horses there are happy and well taken care of with a «no-fuss» relaxed attitude, the people that are there reflect that, too! I’ve trained and worked at many many barns and grew sick and tired of snobby barn-politics, Midnight Blue is just not like other barns. You want to learn how to really ride and are prepared to check your ego and listen? Then this barn is for you. I have trained in many equine fields over 30 years including college equestrian competition, cross-country, horse wrangling in the Big-Horn Mountains, to working with and retraining rescue horses and a few years ago obtaining a P.A.T.H. certification teaching degree to work as a therapeutic riding instructor for people with disabilities. I’ve been through many different barns and been turned off many times by people and places I just didn’t want to be around. Star Canyon is a different type of place that made me want to get back into show training, I was re-inspired to jump again! I am such a believer, that after months of training as one of her students, I now work there as Marguerite’s assistant trainer because I am so dedicated to learning how to work with horses like she does. I consider this an investment in my own knowledge of horsemanship and feel great to be a part of this team.
