This place is a gem! First time visiting yesterday after hearing my brother and sister in law rave about how i gotta try it! I WILL be coming back repeatedly. Cozy coffee shop with top of the line coffee grounds and a great selection of teas. I had the Red Mountain Tea iced, and it was so refreshing and really flavorful. I’m a coffee and tea lover so i’m really excited about this spot i just discovered! Really cool staff, all friendly and helpful.

Yes, yes, yes it truly is as good as everyone says. Their Crème Brulee drink was one of the best I’ve ever had! Mountain Grounds employees have an enormous respect for the beans and it shows in their craftsmanship and creativity in their art. Shout-out to Danielle for recommending this drink to me and providing excellent customer service. All this for a reasonable price! Love their employees, love their drinks, and love their prices! This place is a diamond in a rough.

I was around the area, & I wanted to check out the«crème brûlée latte» that everyone was mentioning on Unilocal. As I walked in, the barista already acknowledged me & was willing to take my order. The wait was fast yet quality tasting coffee. I can say this is by far the best coffee I’ve even tasted. I will defiantly come back.

This is my first time here and I love it! I found it on Unilocal on my way to Tahoe and I was so tired I couldn’t figure out what to order. So I asked the kind lady what she would recommend. It felt like a speak easy. She asked me a few questions about my taste and then made me the perfect drink. I will be stopping here everyone I go to Tahoe. She made me a Brown Sugar White.

I ordered a sweetened cappuccino today and finished it within 30 minutes. It tastes way better than the ones they make over at Starbucks. Plus, it only cost me only $ 3.25($ 4.25 with tip). They will charge you much more for the same amount over at Starbucks. This place is super affordable and super good. I also enjoy the outdoor seating for fresh air. They do have wi-fi but you have to ask for the password. The high school girl who made my drink was super nice so I have her a tip(I usually don’t tip people for coffee). I will def. come back if I am ever in the area.

I’ve come here since they’ve opened up and I just love Mountain Grounds. I’ve tried their espresso drinks and hand poor coffees; the best I’ve ever ever had. I love John(he’s currently singing out loud right now haha) and everyone that works here. They know their coffee and they make you feel right at home. I’m so happy they are close to home. They open super early for those early commuters. You can order ahead by texting them your order! Get a stamp card for a free coffee. Oh oh, and please try the Crème Brulee latte!!!(FYI, gotta drink it there)

I am in LOVE! I’ve been drooling over the pictures of the crème brûlée latte since I first discovered this place on Unilocal.I was super excited to come here to try it. This place is kind of in the middle of nowhere(compared to Berkeley) and when we walked in, we were greeted by the workers there who walked up to us and took our order. They were super sweet and told us to just sit down and that they would bring the drinks to us. The venue is super small and just has a few bar seats. When they brought the drinks to us, they flamed the latte in front of us as we saw the top of the latte harden like the top of a crème brûlée dessert. The first sip was just amazing! It was super unique, and I loved the flavor of this latte. It was definitely worth the 40 minute drive from Berkeley. It was kind of sweet, so if you like more bitter coffee, then the crème brûlée latte might not be for you. The workers were all super nice as we were the only people studying in this café for quite a while. I love the feel of the town and I would highly recommend everyone to try this unique latte!

This little coffee shop is located in a small strip mall off Alhambra Ave, in Martinez. When I visited it there was plenty of parking, but then it was a holiday when I went. :) Like I said it’s small, I would not recommend it, if you’re looking for a place to have coffee and hang out for awhile. There is a long tall table alongside the front window with some tall chairs and a couple of other small tables. The barista was really really nice, he was super friendly and helpful and really knowledgeable about the bags of coffee they sold. I really appreciated him sharing his knowledge with me. I ordered the Chai Latte and found it to be yummy. It had more of a spice kick to it, rather than a sweetness. It’s the type I prefer. It wasn’t served very hot, like you didn’t have to wait to let it cool off, or remove the lid to allow it to cool down. Nor was it necessary to have it double cupped. But it could be considered a good thing. Anyhow, I would return to this little coffeehouse.

Excellent pour over. Ambiance/location a little lacking. It’s not downtown like Barrelista is. They had paninis too I believe, but they have a very small kitchen and don’t offer much. There food is mostly premade stuff like muffins and croissants. The coffee makes up for that if you like pour over. They have a good selection of coffee merchandise too like filters and brew equipment.

Really friendly service, really great coffee, this place deserves a sixth star! My wife wanted to try the popular crème brûlée coffee, which I will admit was worth the trip. The latte was not too sweet and light like you would imagine custard in coffee form. They flame the sugared top to create a very authentic crème brûlée look and taste. You need this in your life. I also ordered the house made chai tea. I got the big size over ice. Very tasty and also not too sweet. We also ate the breakfast sandwiches which were small but tasty. My wife was still a little hungry but I was full. Everything we had at Mountain Grounds was delicious, carefully made, and served by a friendly staff that seemed genuinely interested that we have a great time and enjoy ourselves. We will be returning!

I came here today for breakfast and Mountain Grounds definitely lived up to their 5 star rating! I love that they didn’t ask us to pay until after we ate and drank our coffee. It makes you feel like they want you to stick around. Which is the complete opposite of big coffee shops that just want to take your money and make you leave with a coffee which may or may not be the correct order. We ordered a couple of their ham, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwiches(if you’re not super hungry and looking for something small to eat with your coffee it’s a good size and tasty too), shot of espresso(smooth and really nice flavor), crème brûlée latte(what caught my eye after reading other reviews and I would get this again, but not an everyday drink… remember that since they have to torch it, you need to drink it there). Lastly, we ordered an iced chai(order the house chai). The inside of the shop itself is small with limited seating, there are a couple of outdoor tables, as well as a few single chairs scattered around outside. Because of the size of the shop, I’m not sure if I would recommend this as a working or studying location. It was refreshing to receive such amazing costumer service. Today’s experience reminded me of how important it is to support local businesses! I’ll be back soon to enjoy a pour over and another breakfast sandwich.

If your a fan of Blue Bottles or Philz coffee, then you will LOVE Mountain Grounds! Tucked away in a strip mall in Martinez, is a tiny little coffee shop packing some BIG flavor. Freshly brewed by the cup coffee, with unique flavors such as Smore’s(Mocha with graham crackers and toasted marshmallows) and my favorite as of right now now, Crème Brule Latte which they will torch right in front of you. The coffee is neither bitter or too acidic but very smooth and robust and not overly sweet. At about $ 4 a cup, its fresh, unique and custom made. so forget about that watered down and overly sweet Starbucks! ;)

Mountain Grounds has an overhead menu i couldn’t comprehend. so went with a bean which smelled«roasty», fresh. pour over: columbia(3.5) -«highwire» roaster mentioned, coffee definitely akin to new wave, –smooth, not silky nor bold, easy sipping. so good… drips: –really small space, 3 tables in, 2 outside –talkative, gregarious associates. just like uptown barristas… unlike the big chains. –wished i understood the menu, anyway, fab recommedations!

What a hole in the wall! Upon arriving to this coffee shop, I couldn’t help but think about how cute it was! Although it’s small, there are plenty of options for outdoor seating. I went with a friend who frequents this spot, so he told me to order the crème brûlée latte for my first time. The experience was so interactive because they bring the drink out to you and blow torch the top so you can watch. I thought that was pretty cool since I’ve never ordered anything like it before. And the taste was spot on. I plan to return and order something different everytime!
