Cute bakery with decent pastries but a very poor attitude by the staff. The person behind the counter had zero customer service and was not helpful at all. The staff had an issue with me ordering something hot because there was only one cook. How long does it take to pop a sandwich in the microwave when there is no other customers in the café? A loud sigh came from the cook when my husband and I placed our order. Just rude, won’t be coming back.

When in Jury Duty, might as well scope out the downtown Martinez scene! Saucie’s had such good reviews, and I was really hungry that I didn’t want to skip out! Came in just before the rush for lunch did. I had the lunch special which is listed on the blackboard menu to the left when you walk in. It was either a full sandwich or salad, a drink and a cookie. The menu didn’t list the price, but that sounded like a good deal so I went with it. Had the Turkey sandwich on a croissant(best.decision.ever), an iced tea and a choco chip cookie. Came up to be close to $ 12… OK a little bit more than I thought it would be, but hey, this is downtown Martinez. The sandwiches are all served with a DELECTABLE pesto herb cream cheese spread that is homemade and ahhh-maaazing. The croissants are super delicious too — not France good, but much better than your average joe Café/Bistro around here. The cookie was soft and moist. the perfect ending to a nice little Jury Duty day type meal. If I ever have to appear at this courthouse again, you know where I’ll be eating.

Saucie’s didn’t have a lot of baked items, 2 commercial stands with 3 shelves each. all items unpriced. maybe the breakfast or lunch is the better choice. java city is the brew. eats: lemon bar(2.25) –powdered sugar on top, thin crust on bottom, tart lemon filling in middle. –some aftertaste. crumbs: –less than 10 tables –quick service.

I have nothing but good stuff to say. Owner was decorating so she was still there even though it was past closing time. Still offered to make me a sandwich, and lucky me I ordered stuffed croissant with mushrooms. Delicious! This is exactly the type of local person and local business we should support all the time. For customer service: 5 stars plus bonus star for reason listed above. For food: 5 stars plus bonus star because I had been craving for a savory pastry all day. I will be back… during regular business hours of course. You made my day today!

I was one of the first customers to ever go inside and order a piece of pastry from Saucie’s. I have been a semi-regular customer ever since. I go to Saucie’s whenever I have succeeded in getting a large donation for our foundation. I stop at Saucie’s on the way home from the bank and share with the terrific staff about our recent success. They all cheer for us and ask after our health and make me a coffee and a piece of cake or pastry. They know I am not ever going to be a daily customer yet they love me all the same. Pour the French Roast coffee or the Morning Blend, those are the freshest. I love the place.

We arrived at closing because we didn’t know the time had changed but when I mentioned to the owner that the closing time was posted wrong on the internet, she graciously invited us in to have our lunch anyway and it was very good. We split a turkey sandwich and tortilla soup. Everything was fresh, the soup was not salty(thank you) and we did not feel rushed. We are going back tomorrow in fact.

I love this bakery. The ham and cheese croissant is my favorite morning snack and for lunch the Peggy Salad is amazing. The owner, Teresa, is great, as is her entire staff. I highly recommend you give this local ship a visit!

1 star for the café atmosphere although completely empty 1 star for cleanliness 1 fast service again no one here it’s 2pm They lost me at hello with crumby customer service by the lady who was as vague as ever not excited about anything. The sandwich is $ 10!!! Gee! And just so-so. Nothing but a couple pickles, I would serve this with piece of fruit, chips, potato salad or a cookie? Just saying … Anyhow could’ve been worse, but certainly not worth a special trip here.

I really wanted to like this plac. I have a tendency to support smaller local businesses. However my first visit maybe my last. I only ordered an espresso drink and therefore cannot comment on their food though their pastries look delicious. The staff was friendly. One lady in the kitchen saw the line was forming and quickly went to the counter and started helping customers. The price of my espresso drinks was a bit steep considering what I received: watered or milked down mocha — it barely has any coffee flavor at all. It was also way too hot. I’m a bit picky when it comes to sweeteners. They only offer white sugar(in addition to artificial sweeteners). My preference is for brown sugar or turbinado sugar. $ 4.15 for a medium though one would not know that because they do not post the prices of any of their food or drinks. However they do post a sign that tells patrons there is a minimum $ 10 total for debit or credit card purchases. I had to go back to my car to get cash which I did not have a problem doing however while waiting for my drinks another patron had a total of less than $ 10 and was allowed to use her card. The impression they give is unequal treatment of customers. Was it the fact that I was not wearing business attire? Whatever it was, that is the impression I walked away with… a less valuable customer.

I really don’t like giving bad reviews to mom&pop shops but I went in for a coffee and it was weak and just plain not good. They don’t have fresh milk or cream, just those gross little creamers. The place smelled like onions so I just left with my coffee.

I was feeling saucy, so of course this was the place to be! An early morning appointment in Downtown Martinez calls for a breakfast treat, and I was very happy to offer my $$$ to a private business. Upon venturing in, their pastry case is right in front of you, with their expansive bakery visible behind them, and off to the right are several bistro tables for dining. The service was quick but not rushed, and very kind. I ordered their small iced white mocha, and when I inquired about the croissant fillings when I spied them in the case, the employee came out from behind the counter to make sure she told me the correct filling of the croissant in question. How nice! Chocolate as suspected — one PLEASE! I grabbed a table with my treat in hand, and the employee brought my coffee over a moment later. The total came to $ 8 and change, a little steep perhaps but my coffee was tasty and that croissant was divine. Heavenly buttery dough, a sprinkle of powdered sugar, and just enough smooth melty chocolate. You know how so often the chocolate inside a croissant is in large chunks? Not this one, just a velvety filling that balanced beautifully. I sipped my cool coffee, marveled at my luscious breakfast, and watched the world go by on Main Street while oldies played softly overhead. If only every morning kicked off like this! If you’re lucky enough to start your morning downtown and need a pick me up, definitely check out Saucie’s, they are sweet and wonderful!

Tortilla soup is to die for and comes with a slice of quesadilla. So good! Reason for the four stars is because they’re a bit overpriced, but I would still go back.

Places like this blow any Starbuck’s or Peet’s away. Maybe, a lesser selection of coffee, but the breakfast and lunch bites are freshly made and special. The people behind the counter are friendly rays of sunshine, and the inside is quite spacious with modern, clean café style seating to enjoy your ailment. There is also a small fenced off area outside to sit too. I enjoyed my coffee but was totally enamored by all the yummy goodness behind the glass casing. So many delectables filled with so much sugar and carbs! My bf got some bread pudding which was absolutely heavenly. I nearly inhaled my fresh ham and cheese croissant. It left me yearning for more, but my self control was intact. I’ve never had their lunches, but considering the exceptional quality of their breakfast bites, I’d be inclined to return for some afternoon fare too.

As far as the coffee goes, I was not impressed. I came in here prior to meeting up with a friend. I discovered Saucies on Unilocal while perusing for new cafes in the Martinez area, and Like any new café shop that I have not tried, I was curious to check it out; and especially considering it took over where Le Gâteau Elegant once resided, and which has since moved to Walnut Creek. I have to be honest, the interior ambiance of the café is nothing to exceptionally impressive, however, it’s still decent, and certainly has potential. It was around noonish, and the pastry selection was scarce, with only a few items that didn’t necessarily call to me. I did try a sample of their pumpkin muffin with a cream cheese frosting I believe, and from my one tasting, I was impressed. I ended up just ordering a small latte with almond milk(a plus that they serve almond milk). It comes with one shot in it, however, I ended up adding an extra one. The girl working the counter and helping me, was an absolute sweetheart and really went out of her way to assist me by answering a majority of questions I had. As for the coffee? Ugh… I’m not sure if the almond milk was old, or if it was just the coffee, but sadly, it was horrendous, preventing me to being able to finish it. I really didn’t want to go back and say anything being the girl was so sweet and went out of her way to answer a ton of questions I had, so I just let it slide. And aside from the fact that I was not impressed with the coffee/latte, based upon the friendly service I received, and the one tasting of the tasteful pumpkin muffin, I would most definitely give them another shot by trying one of their pastry/treats when in the area again.

Passed by en route to an antique /thrift store. I peeked in, still walking, and the lady behind the counter was just smiling out at us! I’m already a huge dessert, pastry, anything-sweet fanatic, and she was so welcoming that I had to turn around to check out their fresh made bakery goods. Glad I did. EVERYthing looked AMAZING! I got a lemon loaf cake, and omg! That think was ridiculous… can you say YUMMYYYY! I can already feel a new addiction starting, dangit. Not to mention how nice & friendly both ladies were. Even the tables of customers were chiming in to engage us. It was so refreshing to walk into that kind of atmosphere :) Another plus, I didn’t even realize until I checked in that this place was on my Bookmarks list to try, so that worked out perfectly, hah. We’ll def be back!
