Mrs McCracken’s Diner

Be advised that this place closed before the 2016 New Year started. Not sure what happened. One day they were open and the next they were closed. Just so you all know in case you are traveling through the area and counting on Unilocal to find you a good place to eat.

My wife and I found this gem while we were on our way to another establishment nearby. We’re so glad we saw the sign for this diner and came here instead as it was head and shoulders above any other breakfast place we could have (and would have) gone to.
The staff were very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Gave great recommendations, provided some insight into the restaurant and its owner and made us feel like they appreciated our patronage.
Most importantly, the food was phenomenal as far as quality, freshness, flavor and portion size (more food than you need but that’s never a bad thing). While it took a little longer than we’re used too, it was worth the wait as we got a meal that we loved at a price that’s fair and we’d happily pay more for.
The eggs, whether scrambled or in Omelette form, were fantastic, the meats, especially the sausage, were extremely delicious and the pancakes, each the size of a dinner plate, were out of this world!
My wife and I have found our new breakfast watering hole and can’t wait to come back!

The first time we went to this restaurant the food was very good staff very friendly. On this trip however one of the cooks brought our food out and he had a very large infected looking burn on his thumb which he had in my plate. I instantly lost my appetite and told the waitress that I could not eat the food and sent it back. The we’re very nice about it and asked if there was anything else they could get me I of course said no. While we were still there I could hear the cook in the back of the kitchen complaining and he came out very aggressively said that he didn’t cook my food. I said that it did not matter and asked him if they provide gloves he said yes. I understand if you work in a kitchen you will get cuts and burns however there is no reason not to have them covered at all times while working.

This was my second time going here the food was ok but both times I been there looks like the whole staff likes to hang outside and smoke the whole time and I just wondering if they wash there hands

I tried this place out for lunch for the first time. The service was good, but I’ve had better food. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce tomato mayo and a side of fries. The fries were seasoned and good. I was surprised that the sandwich consisted of chunks of grilled chicken as opposed to a chicken breast. It’s hard to eat a sandwich when pieces of it fall out when you pick it up. Maybe change it to a wrap? Also the chicken was kind of dry. The mayo would have helped, but I couldn’t taste it. There was a small dollop on the bottom bun. Maybe have the mayo in a little cup on the side would have been better? I gave three stars because the service was friendly and prompt. I’ll try it again for something more diner-​like, such as breakfast or burgers.

I’ll give them 3 stars since they are new. I was there for breakfast. Food was Ok. Coffee cups are tiny and need to be refilled too many times for real coffee drinkers. If it doesn’t improve, SERVICE will put them out of business soon. Very few people and SLOW SLOW SLOW. I’ll give it another shot in a few weeks to see if there is any improvement. I would rather support local businesses if possible.

The food was great! The home fries are big slices of potato that are crisp and delicious (mooshy homefries are yucky!) and the bacon and sausage were high quality! The food came to the table quickly after we ordered and was hot and fresh.
The waitress and a lady who we believed to be the owner or manager checked in with us to see how everything was going and both were very friendly.
It still has sort of Asian buffet décor but don’t let that put you off. The food is great and the staff is attentive. I wouldn’t expect a new restaurant to be able to throw a lot of money at redecorating.
Go try it! You’ll love it!
