My 5-star rating here goes to the food quality. It’s the best Indian food I’ve had anywhere(including Chicago, Miami, Boston, and NYC). Don’t let the appearance of this place fool you. It’s incredibly authentic and flavorful. Not the most modern atmosphere(everything’s outdated), but the service quality is genuine, prompt, and prices are reasonable.

Excellent meal tonight! My sister and I took my nephew to try it for the first time. The service was great, they even made a separate dish less spicy of the chicken masala for him. I tried a vegetarian dosa it was a good break from the spicy masala. You can’t go wrong with the nan bread.

Entrees weren’t that great-sauces were very thin/soupy, thali dinner is waaaay too much rice to main course ratio, and things we ordered that are not usually spicy were indeed too spicy for our palates. Garlic naan IMO was way overboard with the garlic-wife liked it that way though, so 2 stars vs 1. Not enough reason to go back with other establishments to choose from.

This is THE place to get authentic South Indian food. They don’t «Americanize» the food here. If you’re a carnivore or a vegan, they can cater to you. My favorite here is the Chole Batura. It’s $ and delicious. I have random cravings for Priyaa’s Chole Batura that no other restaurant can fulfill.

I’ve carried out and ate the lunch buffet. Both times this place has been great. The staff is very attentive and did not rush us at all. I strongly suggest the lunch buffet(9.50) if you’ve never had Indian or want to explore more. The place wasn’t that crowded but they still brought out fresh food and made suggestions.

I haven’t been to this place in years(worked here for a year or so, but back on the east coast now), but I still dream about their butter chicken. Priyaa was my gateway to Indian food and I often came for the lunch buffet. I’ve eaten butter chicken in cities all over the world(ok, really just the US, Canada, UK and Ireland) but I’ve never had an Indian dish that I’ve loved as much as Priyaa’s butter chicken. What I wouldn’t do for their recipe!

This is a solid Indian restaurant that has been a favorite of mine for years. It suffers in location being near Thai kitchen and sushi Ai or else I would be here much more frequently! It is one of be best Indian buffets in the city. The food is constantly replenished. The food from the buffet is a little spicier than other restaurants. Also the butter chicken here is the creamiest and most flavorful that I have ever had. While it was not on the buffer today I look forward to the Chana masala. The soups(sambar, maybe sambal) are spicy and delicious. The menu also offers some great meals. This is one of those restaurants that has good take out and buffet. That is a rare thing in St. Louis The comment about it being hot in here is well founded. Today it was not bad, but I have ordered take out and ate in my car because it was too hot in here.

This is small indian type tea shop near indian grocery store. We went to the lake side and on our way back to home we planned to eat dosa. I never had their buffet but went their for dine in 2 times. Specially for dosa. I have mixed feeling for this place. I like the masala dosa but sambar and chutneys were not good at all. Vada and uttpam was not cooked properly. But idli were so soft and big. All over i like the food but my husband and his friends didn’t. I

The most convenient and closest indian restaurant. Food is good but you must emphasize the amount of heat you want or else you’re in trouble. I always get the chicken tikka and meat samosas which are very good. They also have a lunch buffet M –F, which is passable. I only visit this restaurant I’m having a craving for those fantastic samosas and/or the tandoori chicken/chicken tikka. 7⁄10 would visit again.

First trip there was lunch with a vegetarian co-worker. I am far from being a vegetarian but certainly favor the vegetarian offerings at Indian restaurants. Apparently, the group of co-workers at my new office that enjoys ethnic food favors this place for Indian so I am sure it will be part of the regular rotation. This is a small family-run place. Everything appears to be made in-house. A notable difference between the lunch buffet here and some of the other places in town has to do with the heat of the dishes. I like to order things medium when dining in an Indian restaurant and enjoy that amount of heat. I’ve dined with a number of people who find medium too much… including the wife and our children I would quantify the majority of the offerings on their buffet as medium. Those who don’t enjoy a little heat probably won’t find this place to their liking. For my palate, it was spot-on. I’m an absolute sucker for a cream sauce, regardless of the cuisine. Their cream sauce dishes(tikka masala, korma, etc.) are really good but the sauce was a bit thinner than that which I have been served elsewhere. That seems a little counterintuitiive although it may have something to do with the use of coconut milk as opposed to cream(pure speculation). The buffet was long on chicken although there were plenty of vegetarian offerings and a goat curry. I also found their tandoori chicken a little short on the flavor that most places infuse through the marinade but still juicy and tender. Also, the naan was denser than other places — not bad, just different. I am sure I will be back here time and time again…

Priyaa is fantastic; they have great food and huge portions. They can make their curry spicy or mild, and you get 10% off for calling in a pick-up order. As an Indian food lover with an American palate, I enjoy how the chicken Masala has a savory taste and doesn’t have the sweeter flavor some of the other Indian places have.

Love this place. Have been going for years. Great flavor. Super generous. You get a bottle of wine and three dishes for $ 45! And it’s delicious. Who can beat that?!

I’m not Indian so my review is not based on how authentic everything tastes — just based on how I think it tastes compared to other Indian restaurants I’ve been to. I have had a few Indian friends take me to their favorite authentic Indian restaurants in college, but I won’t pretend I’m an expert whatsoever in taste. Let’s just start by saying I was working until 9:20pm on a Tuesday night before I had time to even think about dinner. I quickly pulled up Unilocal, searched nearby restaurants that were open that late, and found Priyaa. I called my order in at 9:39pm and they said it would be done in 20 minutes. I rushed over as soon as I could and got there at 9:58pm. CLOSECALLRIGHT? The staff looked tired but they close at 10pm, so why wouldn’t they? Not the friendliest crowd but not unfriendly either. Again, 2 minutes before closing time. I ordered paneer mahkani a la carte so it came with rice and 2 slices of nan bread. It cost me around $ 14. The paneer mahkani was delicious — I scarfed down as much as I could before my stomach told me to stop. I’m not good with spicy foods and this wasn’t spicy! The flavors were great and the naan hit the spot. I will say the rice was not that good and it didn’t seem like basmati rice which is disappointing since I look forward to basmati rice every time I hit up an Indian place. All in all, very enjoyable. Who knows, maybe everything tasted 10x better because I ate dinner at 10:30pm.

Many people had recommended Gokul for Indian food in this area, but now that we’ve been to Priyaa, we’d have to pick them over Gokul. The prices are reasonable and if you get the thali style meal, you get a ton of extra food for only a few more dollars(that tamarind soup is amazing!). There’s plenty of delicious options on the menu. We had the chole bhatura and the paneer makhani thali style. The food was absolutely scrumptious! We’ll definitely be back.

First Unilocal review… Amazing!!! The waiter could’ve been more personable, but the food topped Gokul.

This is the best Indian restaurant I have been to, and that is saying a lot! The garlic naan is to die for, I love the huge buttery cloves of garlic throughout the bread! The chicken curry is spicy — just the right amount! And there are NEVER bones to pick through in your food! Each piece is perfect! I eat here every week and have enjoyed the lunch buffet as well as the extensive dinner menu!

With the day being an Indian harvest festival, being a South Indian I decided to head down to Priyaa. They had a decent lunch crowd but were not too crowded. I wanted to check out the buffet spread before deciding whether to go for buffet or a la carte. The buffet looked so good, I made my decision within a few seconds. My first round consisted of the appetizers– onion pakora(onion strips batter dipped and fried), vada(fried patties made of flour, spices, onions etc) and Punugu with chutneys(dips), upma(South Indian breakfast dish) and sambhar(mild soup with veggies used as a side or dip with South Indian breakfast items). They were all really good. Second round consisted of veggie biryani(basmati rice with veggies, spices), Dal fry(lentils), vegetable Khurma(vegetables in a creamy sauce, egg bhurjee(fried egg with spices and onions) and naan. I didn’t have a single complaint. They all surpassed my expectations. The biryani was so good, I went for a second helping, this time topping with Raitha(yoghurt dish, perfect for cooling your stomach after a spicy meal) and finally finished off with Kheer(dessert made of rice, milk, nuts, cream). The server/cashier seemed a nice and friendly man. The service was up to standards. Most people at the restaurant were American. It’s usually a sign that the food is not too unbearably spicy. I shall definitely recommend this place to my American friends in the city(Indians know about this place already :-)).

Priyaa has become the gold standard by which I compare all other Indian food to. It’s just so consistently tasty. It’s great for takeout/leftovers and is amazing fresh when you go in to sit down. You can order a palatable mild, or have your dish extremely spicy. Being Indian food, they have a lot to offer to vegetarians but have several dishes for non-vegetarians. When you sit down, the service can be a little spotty since it seems to be run by a family, but not the worst I’ve seen. I just highly recommend them and have ordered many different menu items from them several times.

I wanted to get some Indian food, but when I walked in I was surprised that they had a lunch buffet. I really enjoyed their food, but was upset that they didn’t refill the food when it got low… I think it was because the buffet was about to be over., but was sort of bummed out that I couldn’t try some of their dishes. But other than that it was good! I would definitely come back again.

I wasn’t a fan of Indian food until I came to Priyaa. Now, it’s one of my favorite places to go with friends. If Priyaa’s walls could talk — they would know all of our secrets! I always get Chicken Mahkani and I am always beyond satisfied. I’ve gotten Chicken Tikka Masala and though that’s great too, I always revert back to my favorite. The staff is friendly and accommodating and I always feel welcomed with eager arms. Priyaa is more than just Indian cuisine, it’s an experience that must be had by all!
