Mud Factor

This was a blast! Of course those you go with make it that much better. This was my first obstacle course mud run with my 15-​year-​old daughter. I told my friend I wanted to do one of these with my daughter and I asked her tons of questions since she had already done the one in Sacramento. I figured it would be an awesome mother/​daughter experience and told my daughter after I had signed us up. She was thrilled at the idea.
I purchased the tickets a few weeks ago on their website and with the fees it was a total of about $ 38.00 a person. It all depends how early you sign up because the tickets just keep going up. This is for ages 14 and up. They also have an area for kids to do their own little version of the mud run.
When we arrived, we were given our numbers with 4 safety pins to put on our shirts, tattoos and a cool little bandana.
Ready, set, go! Immediately after taking off we were doing the military crawl under an obstacle where people were climbing and we were already muddy.
There are many obstacles and there is a lot of running. A bit dusty during the run but nothing unbearable. Rope climbing, wall climbing, crawling, swinging, water sliding, crawling in mud that felt like clay that sucked you in, puddle running, net climbing… Woohoo! Super fun.
In my opinion this isn’t an obstacle course for diehard runners or athletes. If you are not afraid of heights and you are at least somewhat fit, you can do this in a bathing suit. I did see one woman that went up a wall and when she got to the top, she panicked, started shaking and could not move forward or come back down the way she went up. She got help to get down the same way she went up. I don’t think it had anything to do with fitness but more like horror to heights that kicked in and paralyzed her.
The volunteers were great. Cheering you at every obstacle and funny too. There was a water station along the way to take a couple of sips and keep going.
That giant water slide was awesome! I ran and went down face first. I couldn’t wait to make my big splash. Somehow though a few feet before landing in the huge puddle of mud… My body stopped and I had to push myself the rest of the way down. It was very amusing to my daughter.
We ended with a cute little skull medal that my friend pointed out would also work as a bottle opener.
There is an area to wash off the mud. You won’t get all the mud out but enough to sit on a towel in your car and drive off.
Suggestions:
Wear sneakers that you don’t care for and double knot the laces.
Wear sunscreen.
Use the bathroom before you start.
Try to wear clothes that are pretty skin tight and won’t sag when wet.
Bring wipes because you will have mud where the sun doesn’t shine and you don’t want that ish drying up there.
It’s OK to look cute but ultimately it doesn’t matter because everyone ends up wearing what looks like the same outfit, wet and dirty.
Bring towels to cover your car seats.
If you are not the type of person that does any physical activities at all, this might not be for you as it will feel like you are dying even though like I said before this was not a die hard event.
My daughter, my friend and I kicked ass! Mud from beginning to end. We will be doing this again soon.
