Great spot to come hang for a few hours and enjoy some wonderful trails and the beauty that is outside! The nature center is quite lovely and had way more to see than we were expecting. The lodge has an impressive number of taxidermied animals line the walls here and range from tons of birds to a good number of cats(bobcats, etc) and tons of great exhibits about all of them! The far room has a pretty impressive bee exhibit with a hive inside. Very neat stuff, even for those who aren’t avid bee keepers. There’s also a large sitting room that looks over a nice little area outside that has a bunch of squirrel feeders and makes for a good little break area. After checking everything out, you can go outside to check the trails. These things are fantastic! There are a dozen or so trails that range from a half a mile to a few miles. One such trail leads back into mason city around 14th street. Leading out of the nature center, the path is paved and goes for roughly a mile. Great path to take a stroller on. Overall, we were really impressed with this place. The center was well put together and had a lot of goog exhibits and information. The paths are well kept and there’s plenty of different ones to keep anyone busy. We’ll worth checking out be it on foot or on wheels!
