I found myself in need of a new back door and started getting some quotes around town. I wasn’t all that excited about the options that I had found, so I asked a friend who had recently renovated if she had any suggestions. She was more than willing to recommend Cincinnati Entry Point. Cincinnati Entry Point, eh? Sounds local, sounds subject-matter appropriate. Being the good little Unilocaler that I am, I decided to call in for some information. They sent a rep to my house to measure and quote. I was really glad to get the house call because before I was running all over town getting quotes and getting skeptical responses when I told them the door dimensions. Yeah, not every door has the same dimensions. The rep brought a catalog with all sorts of options, materials, warranties. I found just what I wanted — full glass, low-e, no grid and with internal mini-blinds. The price was great… a lot lower than some other places and just in-line with Lowe’s. The only complaints that I have was that they seemed really, really busy and that slowed down the process a little. I opted to have the lock customized to match another door’s key. I could’ve waited for them to come and pick up the key, but I chose to drive up to Mason to drop it off. I also had some slight issues with their communications. Most of the information about timeframe and other details I got when I initiated contact. In fact, I was sort of given a vague timeline for when the door would be ready. One day out of nowhere I received a call from the installer who was ready to set up an appointment. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m glad everything went quickly, I’m just used to getting a little more information on the progress. The process required me to be a little more proactive than I would have expected. Perhaps they deal more with contracters than individual customers. I was most pleased with the installer. He even found some rotted wood under the threshold that he replaced, gratis. His helper also gave me a business card for a recommended painter. My door was one of the much simpler jobs that Cincinnati Entry Point does. When I visited their show room in Mason, they had scads of huge, beautiful doors. If I’m ever in need of a new front door, I will go back.
